What a transformation!! Sheffield City centre is starting to take shape, first time in years I'm starting to feel proud of the City. Sheffield was nice years ago but over the years it started to look tired looking and was in desperate need of moving forward with the times, well done Sheffield for putting us back on the map.
@@timawells Forge Island is coming along. The hotel is now open, and the whole place looks quite impressive. How long it will last though is anyone's guess.
You are right about the wapentake being there. However when it was the wapentake henrys wasnt there. Henrys was the barleycorn pub which changed to the cambridge pub. Wapentake then changed to the casbah bar and henrys arrived.
Good weather for Sheffield by the sea, peace gardens were lovely back in the day, with all the grass and flower beds. Remember taking the kids to see father Christmas there at Christmas it always looked great. Nothing there for me. I’d rather eat and drink local to where I live. Once you’ve eaten what do you do then. Tim, let us know what the air is like. Is it amazing to experience?
So the guests manage to find their way to the hotel and the driver dumps the luggage at the rear door. Now to get the car to Charles Street Cheese Grater car park. Hey! This is priceless! Barkers Pool to Leopold Street. Campo Lane to Rockingham Street. Turn right onto West Street then left onto Eldon Street. Turn right onto Devonshire Street then left onto Fitzwilliam Street. Turn right onto Moore Street then left onto St Mary's Gate. Turn left onto Eyre Street and continue to Arundel Gate and turn left onto Charles Street. For a council flying the CAZ flag that's a long, long way and a lot of fuel and emissions!! Irony being there's a huge car park over the road at Cole Brothers.😂
I've stayed at the Rad Blu and parked at the Cheesegrater. Had to lug our luggage across the peace gardens. There's a discount at the car park for guests.
@@djhvideo Welcome to Sheffield. You can drive up to the back door and dump your cases, but its a nightmare for anyone to drive from there to the Cheesegrater. There is a massive car park for the old John Lewis building right by the hotel, that the council hotles and its closes.

It is fantastic. A full revision and watering down of the seven stone project which had John Lewis at it's heart. You're getting your information and 'costing' from the Sheffield Star. That hasn't been accurate since when you liked Sheffield last.. Which from watching your videos seems like decades.
The costs for the the hotel came from a FOI request I made to Sheffield city council. Sheffield started to die in 94 when they closed the hole in the road down rather than maintain properly and wasted the money on a pointless tram system that benefits a 1/10th of the people the original tram system provided for. The £470 million comes from here heartofsheffield.co.uk/ As for the £33 million do you think this is inaccurate? n the last six months, it has been confirmed that the cost of the project has more than doubled to £33.6million - which the a council spokesperson previously said was due to inflation. I think you need to think before commenting.
