Dear sir, the video is really very helpful in checking the common method variance in smartpls. I am able to find put only measured marker variable technique in smartpls, However, no other video available to check CMV through unmeasured marker variable technique as demonstrated by you. For this i really appreciate you. However, i need citation of this unmeasured technique, which i tried to note from the video as you mentioned in the comment section. But i am unable to find out that reference. I would be highly grateful to you, if you can provide the same. As per my understanding, the unmeasured latent variable technique was given by liang et al, 2007. Are you referring this?. Further,, the marker variable technique given by chin et al, 2013. But this article not talked about unmeasured technique. Sir, please help

Hi Derek, this is really helpful. Can you please provide the reference for the used approach (for Unmeasured Latent Variable check using partial correlation - EFA). the mentioned references don't cover the process you followed. can you please assist and provide the exact reference. thanks

Hi, Dr Derek, thank you for your Smart PLS tutorials, they really helps me greatly. Now I have two questions about CMB:
    1. If I have a formative-formative model and a reflective-formative model, and their second order factors are endogenous latent factors which are unobserved, can I check the CMB of the second order factors through the Unmeasured Latent Variable approach?
    2. Does it need to check the CMB of the first order factors (I mean the CMB between the first order factors and their indicator items)?

    Hi Derek
Thanks for such a detail video. Can this marker variable technique be applied if we have just one variable marker item?

If for marker variable it is best to use the Social Desirability Scale before collecting your data

@@derekong1609 thanks Derek.I have already got my data collected.Since I m using PLS SEM I am looking for VIF to check CMB.

    Dear Derek,
Thanks for covering this topic .
At 2:37 your slide mentions that correlation between marker variable and principle constructs should be less than 0.3.
So does that mean apart from the R square changes, we can also check on the correlation using the "discriminant validity" tab of smartPLS report and if there is no correlation above 0.3, we can report the same as an additional validity of no CMB in our results?

      Rosh R yes

      Thanks for the confirmation!
Can you tell me the literature which I can read and site for the same using methodology of PLS?
It would be highly useful as I need to do so for a paper review!

    Hi Derek
I watched this video and found it very helpful. I have question: my model has two mediating variables and two dependent variables. Do I have to point marker var to all mediating/dependent variables separately? Please clarify.
    Best wishes.

point it one by one to the dependant variable

Hi Dr. Derek, I am doingconfirmatory composite analysis as per Hair et al. 2021. If I apply measured marker, do I need to report other results such as outer weights, outer loadings, path coefficients, predictive validity before and after marker variable application like you did comparison for R-square

No need ... it is just used to check for CMV....:)

    Dear Sir,
    Thank you for this information.
Could you please provide the source or sources of this information for a citation, especially for the unmeasured marker variable? Thank you very much.

Hi Dr. Derek, what type of response used for the Social Desirability questions? Is it 'True' or 'False' or the Likert--type scale (Strongly agree - Strongly disagree)?

I'd like to ask if the "Unmeasured Marker Variable" is the same as "unmeasured latent method construct (ULMC)" or they are different?
