How I wish this was the whole movie. I haven't seen it and can't find it anywhere, not even on cable. Pat Boone, Ann Margret and Bobby Darin! If Sandra Dee was in it, too, watching it would have been heaven for me. Thanks for uploading!
Sharon H Same here! I still have the 40s version on VHS. I'm interviewing for the WI State Fair Police Department tomorrow as the grounds are a year round venue. I've been going to "our" state fair ever since I was in a baby stroller in the 60s. Would be so "great" if I could work at "Our State Fair."
Thank you for posting. Had to watch since "Our State Fair" is about to begin this month. I like this version of the movie best since it was made in Dallas. Also the 60's is when my parents began taking me to this fair, so I remember it looking just like it did in the move.
Dedicated to my friend Jo Ann Klein and her family who worked at The Texas State Fair many years. Dr. James Griffin has used this theme to promote The Texas State Fair on KEOM 88.5 FM. Mesquite Texas for many years.
Steve Burstein : Link? I'd be interested seeing this one! I believe the1940s version of State Fair was the only Rogers and Hammerstein musical created just for film. All other R&H film musicals were from Broadway plays adapted to film. Love them all, even tho they are as corny as heck. WI State Fair just ended last weekend. Just as wholesome as the film. LOVE IT.
Hi, I was at the Minnesota state fair last weekend. They set the single day attendance record for that state fair over 236,000. I would like to see the Texas state fair some day. I herd Texas and Minnesota are top 2. Texas Has the Highest total attendance. Minnesota has the highest daily attendance.
@bryandavidmalone Your welcome. Sadly to say on 9-27 Jo Ann and her caregiver; a good friend of mine; both became very ill. They were found 2 days later unconscious. My friend had a cancerous brain tumor. Both were in the hosptial for over 2 months. Thankfully my friend's tumor is gone. Jo Ann continues to be on a feeding and breathing tube. I am Praying for a full recovery. Thanks to both of her kind and compassionate neighbors; who have given of themselves during this time.
No offense taken. Actually I posted it because my sister generally works at the Texas State Fair, I thought she would get a kick out of seeing the Big Tex billboard.
Hi everybody! Does anyone have this film? I'm a film collector and I'd like to have it in my collection, but I couldn't find it anywhere! Please, try to help me on this! I'd appreciate a lot! Thanks!
This version of the State Fair is not as good as the forties version I like the 1945 version best 1933 version second best and this one third-best they really should make a up-to-date version
this version copy the 1945 they should Texas Shoulda came out with a own songs and they own version other Fair even though is from the 1933 fair but the 1945 version they did it their own way this no they should have wrote different songs and did it their own way
27 years later and this song just popped into my head
I'm going to the fair today and thought of the aong
Popped into my head this morning lol
Driving home from the State Fair listening to this.
Love ❤️ this 🍿 movie 🍿 very handsome pat Boone and beautiful Ann M nice 😊
Pamela Tiffin a beautiful woman as well in her own right!
That state fair is a great state fair; won't miss it, won't even be late!

Check your PBS station. It was on mine a few months ago.
It's on You Tube. I watched it. The whole movie.
@@carollewis3912 Yeah. I've watched it here several times already since last year. But thanks for replying!
This is one of my absolutely favorite movies. I watch it every year at this time because our fair is coming around soon.
Oh, and I LOVE Ann-Margaret! I also had a major crush on Pat Boone back then but got over it when I realized he was a RW religious prick.
Sharon H
At least he's not going to hell.

I have suspected for a long time there are deeper reasons that I like these older movies.
Every year I listen to this to get in the mood for the county fair.
Bro it's state Fair....
Fuck the county fair, this song is about the STATE fair. My state's fair to be precise 😆
I found the DVD version on Amazon! :) Amazon has everything you could ever want.
Other nice part from this film, thanks again for sharing with us!
My Freshman year we did this musical in High School!!
Actually this was like a homecoming for Pat Boone since he grew up in the north Texas area around Dallas!
Reminds me so much of my mum
i didn't know there were two versions of this film!!
there are three actually, this was the third one

I love this movie and song!💗
And this was the "modern version." Now it's old fashioned! Still like the 40s version the best.
Hasn't anyone seen the(not musical)1933 original?
Steve Burstein : Link? I'd be interested seeing this one!

I'm from Dallas. I like this version!
me too.. first version seemed more authentic
That’s why it seemed weird. I’ve only seen the 40’s version.
The 1945 version is the GENUINE; it featured the Award-winning 'It Might As Well Be Spring", written by the big ampersand--Rodgers and Hammerstein.
My favourite version of the song.
@tatulover01 There are actually three versions: 1933, 1945, 1962.
Ahh, my childhood
All I know, all I owe, I owe Ioway.
@trailboyus66 ... Good stuff, thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for the info.! I'll try that and maybe I'll get lucky and also find Annie Get Your Gun there.
It's dollars for Dallas at our state fair. Big D little a double l as. We even named our airport Love. ❤ 😍 💖 ❣
Devin sports car
@luckysailorfuku So do I, and I was even BORN then.
once again the Minnesota state fair breaks the all time single day attendance record
for a state fair over 252,000
I'd like to see a video featuring every scene from the movie that has the real Texas Sate Fair or Dallas in it.
@ChucksCherubs The 1933 version was a drama, before 'The Big Ampersand' wrote the musical score.
@squirell1952 I think there was back in the 70s, but it might have been a pilot..

I don't like this version of State Fair, but it did have some good qualities in my opinion.

I like this song, but did Hammerstein have writer's block on this one? The song has only two lines, repeated several times.
No offense taken. Actually I posted it because my sister generally works at the Texas State Fair, I thought she would get a kick out of seeing the Big Tex billboard.
Dollars to donuts that this movie blows.
Someone needs to post the opening from the 45 version..
What state fsir lol, Texas is not even mentioned in the song. must have been used in all state fair promos
Here played Meat Loaf with 14 years as stand boy
Hi everybody! Does anyone have this film? I'm a film collector and I'd like to have it in my collection, but I couldn't find it anywhere! Please, try to help me on this! I'd appreciate a lot! Thanks!
Ioway is the only correct state fair. A Chip on the shoulder atttitude.
This version of the State Fair is not as good as the forties version I like the 1945 version best 1933 version second best and this one third-best they really should make a up-to-date version
1945 version is much better..
How can a movie open with a bunch of different people singing the same 2 lines over and over again???!!!
I did, and it’s a great movie!
this version copy the 1945 they should Texas Shoulda came out with a own songs and they own version other Fair even though is from the 1933 fair but the 1945 version they did it their own way this no they should have wrote different songs and did it their own way
I like the 1945 version better....no offense
None taken. The 1962 version was, as my late father put it, 'for the buzzards'.
