    Surely this is just a case of the Chinese shaft being machined incorrectly? I would have liked to have seen if the US made shaft fitted the Chinese reel to confirm. Why not just order a new shaft from Penn?

    4.72 MM. isn't an unusual size. It's 3/16" bright ground standard diameter.
    Ps. The "thin bit'" at the end is called a journal.

    I've got 525 s rocket reel co Daiwa turbo s and akios and to be honest the reels that feel the cheapest to use are the akios You seem to have a big downer on the 525 s calling them in films cheap Well good I reckon they are a fantastic reel at all levels and compared to using some overpriced akios i would take the Penn every time

    This explains whi if I get a slight over run, the line goes in between the spool and the frame.

    I think If I was ever going to buy a Penn 525 I would buy a decent second-hand one. Or get a Penn Fathom or Daiwa and send it to you to mag it up. the Abu 6500 sports mag you did for me is awesome by the way. :)

    Good day. I have purchased a Penn 515 mag4 to learn to cast a conventional a reel. I have been looking for a American made Penn in a 525 here in America. None have been found. Can you give me a hand with the search? Do they go under a different name here? Thank for any help! Carl E.H.

    This might sound weird but make sure you are exporting future videos using progressive scan in your editor. This should remove the lines in your final product. Great info otherwise.

    i know this is an old video but quick question. is the 525 supermag usa different to the supermag xtra usa? like the spool and spindle. you showed the mag2 has smaller weaker spindle. but are the inners the same on the usa ones?

      What size rod are you going to put it on? weight cast? Distance you want to achieve? Max drag needed? Line capacity needed?

      @@PimpMyReel 12 ft surf rod, throwing 4/5oz plus bait so maybe 8 oz - 10oz total depending on bait..aiming 40 yards maybe? Is that too exaggerated? 300 yards braid with a mono top shot for shock.. drag power thinking as much as realistically needed..(not so sure about drag)

    can't you just grind the spool down so it doesn't rub

    • @PimpMyReel
      @PimpMyReel  8 лет назад +1

      That would leave bare aluminium corroding very quickly with salt water use. You would need to strip off the anodised coating first, then re-anodise after the work is done.
