Great conversation and one that should be a more popular topic. Do you think you could cover this and the attack on masculinity more? As a woman in this era it is very confusing to figure out how to be the “right” kind of woman, we are conditioned by society very young to not listen to our souls desire to be wives and mothers but to pursue high paying careers. Our role models are all basically porn stars that tell us our only real value is our sexuality but at the same time try to make this an empowering thing when it is incredibly dehumanizing. I would love to hear more on this conversation and what the effects have been on men as well.
I have been musing over the possibility that our Internet age is a new Route 66. A road that connects people not just from across state lines but global implications. We are told to get our kicks and stop at everything that catches our fancy. If we treated life like a highway, we would have to spend an awful time maintaining that frivolous lifestyle. The result is a life with no soul or a soul deeply yearning for a better eternal destiny. Video games have been one of the biggest time sucks for young people on the Internet.
Isn't strange that being a "housewife" is a derogatory term? And I think women are behind it. The feminists desperately want to become like men, respected by men, make money like men, have power like men. Men don't really like such women very much, although we can respect them for their man-likeness in a way I suppose. However, women can never compete with men in being men-like. So they are doomed - that is, we all are.
Very true. Gender "equality" these days seems to be about turning women into men. It's not about being the best woman you can be. It's basically saying men are better than us without actually saying it, so we have to try and be like them. In western countries most women already have equal rights such as the ability to vote. Anything more than that is just overkill in my opinion. Femininity and feminine desires for women should be celebrated, not downgraded. We need to still acknowledge that men and women are fundamentally different from one another.
Overall I agree with you, but I think it's a little more complicated then that in regards to equal rights. In the United States a man and a woman performing the same exact work with all the same hours, etc. and all else being exactly the same except gender, the man will still be paid more than the woman. Equal pay for equal work is not protected by exercised law, and though there are definitely improvements in some parts of the country and in some corporations, this is still happening on a regular basis. I think there is a little bit more that needs to be done before saying that the gender "equality" (as you said, basically making men the standard for women as well) is the only issue that still needs addressed. Have a wonderful day, and keep thinking deeply. I have a feeling that it will be women like us pulling themselves up and planting their feet as strong women who are not ashamed of their femininity that will win this battle. We can't wait around for men to realize where they're messing up. God Bless you.

Bro, by the logic of procession in the order of creation, Eve is "higher" than Adam because she was created AFTER Adam. What comes first in the order of creation is the lesser.
Wow, you just re-wrote the biblical theology on the subject, or shall I say perverted it?! And seeing more non-biblical responses, you could all start your own cults!
I always thought that the devil hated women more because Our Lady was made higher than all the angels. For this reason women are so degraded in our society
Spann's logic that women are somehow the "pinnacle of creation" because they were created last is laughable at best and gravely erroneous at worst. The title "pinnacle of creation" is a descriptor that should be reserved for the Blessed Virgin Mary only, not all women. Spann likely wouldn't even realize *why* She is the boast of mankind. God chooses what is lower to exalt. Since women are lower than men, He chose a woman to exalt beyond all other created beings. Even then there are dignities and privileges a lowly priest enjoys that the Blessed Virgin does not, and I do not say this to try and devalue Her. Instead it should remind one of the power of the Blessed Virgin's intercession. Fradd, I implore you and your guests to not raise women above where they belong in the hierarchy, especially in a culture that constantly devalues masculinity, since it does not follow Church tradition nor sound theology and philosophy.
I’m sorry but conversations like this, between two dudes, make me cringe. All the problems with modern WOMEN seem to be a favorite topic of Catholic MEN. I say this as a strong Catholic woman-I’m not sure who is supposed to benefit from this discussion. Women inherently have more at stake in sexual relationships than do men. We risk more if we enter into one. We know what it actually means to carry that vulnerability far better than do men. And navigating that vulnerability is in some measure our strength. I think we can agree that men, even Catholic ones, have a propensity to use that vulnerability against women in all kinds of ways (e.g. promoting contraceptive and promiscuous culture or simply just viewing one’s wife as an object). And that is partly why (not some secret, raging feminism or secularism) that many Catholic women roll their eyes at discussions like these about women that have no female participants.
do you disagree with any of their points? I mean it wasn't a discussion, they were two men explaining things they clearly agreed on, and that they hopefully previously shared with their wives and friends.
I’m saying I see no value in yet another 2 Catholic dudes talking about feminine virtue. At this point it’s basically an over-used trope in Catholic culture: some Catholic dudes in a man-cave talking about how flawed modern women are. Would rather hear from some Catholic women on the subject. Is it conceivable to any men that because they don’t face what women do, they might not have the most insight into the subject?
I would think it’s because most modern feminists are extremely progressive and actively deny women that don’t follow suit as being incorrect or less than for holding conservative values on family and femininity. It’s quite difficult to find a person that identifies as a feminist that actively celebrates motherhood over careers, is pro-life and values the traditional family structure, most modern feminist think these things are wrong and need to be abolished.
