I like the fact he was just part of the band. He has said on many occasions that being in the back and just being a part of the whole brings him so much joy. This is a fine example and for you guitar playing heros take a lesson from this.
what more?? Eric Clapton himself singing Layla, on top of that jazz style....for those who have any doubts where heaven is ...well look no further ...it is right here...
Eric Clapton !... Et son Musicien soufflait dans un Saxo Baryton !... C'est plutôt un Saxo d'accompagnement... C'est Extra !... Et toujours un plaisir de l'écouter...
Times like this, Im so grateful for my father and how he exposed me to various forms of music at such an early age. I think thats why I can appreciate this so much...
I loved the original by Derek and the Dominoes and all the shapes it has taken since then, but this is the top of the heap for me right now! Sweeeeeeeetness
@napkinshower Exactly! Couldn't have put in any better myself. Clapton is jazz. And blues. And rock. I just got tickets to see him this March in Sacramento as a b-day gift from my wife!!!!!!!
John Scofield said it best: When you go around comparing [the worthiness of] one music against [that of] another you lose the beauty of any of it. For all you Clapton purists, John Scofield is a phenomenal jazz, blues and funk guitarist.
Wow! Amazing! Thanks for share it! #SmoothJazz #SmoothVocals
I remember David Sanborn when he was just beginning and opened for Al Jarreau. 1976. Playing at The Troubadour on Santa Monica Blvd near Doheny in West Hollywood. They were both new and they both used the same musicians on tour.
I don't think people realize just how skilled Marcus Miller is to play the Bass Clarinet like that.
He is the best part of the song
Thank you for naming Marcus Millers' instrument the Bass Clarinet It is the 1 st time i come across this amazing instrument.
What I love about Clapton, apart form the fact that he's a world class musician, is that he's always open to doing something new
Wow! I have never heard the bass clarinet be played so beautifully! Plus I love In a Sentimental Mood.... and that version of Layla is sublime!
Amazing sax intro by marcus miller there, quite a bit of soul in that jazz intro ;)

Magnifica variazione di Layla; l'attacco sax di David Sanborn è una delizia
I love how clapton gives everyone the finger when he plays some chords :D
Oh yeah gotta love an asshole
I'm not normally a jazz fan, but this is a very soothing version of a classic clapton song.
I like the fact he was just part of the band. He has said on many occasions that being in the back and just being a part of the whole brings him so much joy. This is a fine example and for you guitar playing heros take a lesson from this.
Veramente spettacolare. Da ricordare questa.
E' di una bellezza assoluta. Sono rimasto veramente impressionato.
... this is wonderful, so inwardly enticing, the quintessential jazz interpretation of a classic rock song.
GREATEST VERSION! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been thankful for over a decade now!
what more?? Eric Clapton himself singing Layla, on top of that jazz style....for those who have any doubts where heaven is ...well look no further ...it is right here...

MarcuuuuuuS Sanborn...Clapton : Magnifique !!!!
Yes, Jet, Marcus is playing a bass clarinet. Notice there is also a saxophonist. I think it is a young David Sanborn. He, too, can play.
Never heard a bass clarinet played like that before. I kinda like it :)

That's Marcus Miller, and the instrument is a bass clarinet, not a sax :)
