Property taxes is unethical. It means that people never really own property. The government can always take property back by making the taxes too high for most people to be able to afford to pay. Here in the UK, there's no property tax, but instead there's a council tax, which is paid by the resident of the property, whether that's the owner or not, basically whoever lives there. There are different levels of payment called 'bands', ranging from A to H from the cheapest to the most expensive properties. Tths could be anything from £1400/US $1780 per year for band A, to £4100/US $5200 for band H. In this scenario, the wealthiest benefit the most, as there's a cap on band H, so even million pound properties only pay on average between £3000-£4000 per year. Hope this was interesting.
True. Squeezing out more money. I was convinced for a second why the high costs so the government wouldn’t have to pay the red dragon family when it’s absolutely not. I recently had to think about my own family members and their homes. Property tax is hidden as land tax so they won’t have to owe us. I’m from Dallas, my great grand mother moved here from Houston. We have always celebrated Juneteenth since I was little. We all barbecued and she told us stories of living in the 1920s. Her mother was first gen free, born in Galveston. So our family always knew and appreciated this time of the year! And they had like 2 lines about it in the Texas history books in school 🫤It’s sad and victorious at the same time 🥹✊🏾 it’s always been a Texas thing to celebrate Black Independence Day ❤

(July 4th,etc) The origins of America is a tale of three stories- Native Americans, White Colonizers, and African Americans and it does feel good to be recognized because we truly were not free on July 4th 1776 so what were we ever celebrating? I'm from Jersey and we always celebrated Juneteenth in church and in the community. It's a start of recognition that we are a separate nation within a nation. More will come from this in terms of the restitution we deserve.😊

Juneteenth reminds the country that we were held captive 2 years after emancipation and the heart of businessmen continue to begrudge a living wage because the country was built on free labor.

It’s hard maintaining, but it’s very rewarding. A lot of people who talk bad about ownership, are steering people from building long term wealth. All of the Mexicans and white people I know have flipped multiples homes from the age of 18/19 and their parents gave them the down payments. My coworkers showed me the big check in their bank accounts. They buy sale, buy sale and keep moving with the market. I say buy your house, because the value for that location is only going to increase over time.
Reparations has been paid to all groups: white Jewish, Japanese, Native Americans, and Affirmative Action (written in the Constitution) for whites since the inception of this country in the form of land and housing, government, employment, legal system, banking, education, medical, etc. and what do we get with a day of freedom celebration in the month of celebrating homosexuality! I’ve always said Juneteenth was a stupid Holiday b/c it was a celebration to celebrate specifically the last freed slaves in Galveston, TX. It then became a Southern holiday that later caught on elsewhere. But the slaves in Galveston found out they were free 2-3 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. So basically, they worked 2-3 years as slaves when they didn’t have to. What’s to celebrate? That would piss me off! But, a free Holiday is a free Holiday if you don’t have to work I guess.

We had been free two prior to date but they celebrate the last state that didn’t want to let go of the slaves. It’s still a slap in our face. Know your history yall!

●I sold my first home in North MS. 3yrs ago and moved to Biloxi, MS. Last year, I was telling a widow elderly woman who lives in Biloxi that I wanted to purchase a home in Biloxi.
●She told me that when her husband was living, the mortgage, taxes, & upkeep of her home were easy. Now that he's gone, it's a major struggle for her.
●She said I'd be better off renting an apartment without all the extra responsibilities, taxes, different home insurances, & high mortgage!
●Listening to this video about Tony's high taxes on his home makes me want to not purchase another home, especially on the GulfCoast!

It’s hard maintaining, but it’s very rewarding. A lot of people who talk bad about ownership, are steering people from building long term wealth. All of the Mexicans and white people I know have flipped multiples homes from the age of 18/19 and their parents gave them the down payments. My coworkers showed me the big check in their bank accounts. They buy sale, buy sale and keep moving with the market. I say buy your house, because the value for that location is only going to increase over time.

Reparations has been paid to all groups: white Jewish, Japanese, Native Americans, and Affirmative Action (written in the Constitution) for whites since the inception of this country in the form of land and housing, government, employment, legal system, banking, education, medical, etc. and what do we get with a day of freedom celebration in the month of celebrating homosexuality! All of this symbology does not and cannot replace what is due!

Tony you are entitled to your opinion as I am. Celebrating Juneteenth to remember how we have survived does not minimize our desire or entitled compensation we are due. They are different and can legitimately coexist. We are Freeish but we still remember and celebrate those who have become ancestors. Because of them we are still here. Two different conversations.

The salves was freed on this day in Galveston Tx In 1865 on June 19th that is why it is celebrated and called the day of freedom. The truth freedom we have is knowing Jesus Christ.

We should have free therapy to overcome the trauma in a healthy way and the black therapist should be compensated AND their education should be free. With a renewed and released mind from trauma we could use our minds the way God intended us to use our minds. Don't get me qrong ALL education should be free to us, but I feel like there should be an additional monetized incentive for those helping people heal from trauma. 🙏🏽 Just thinking (typing) out loud.
I was having a conversation with one of my younger clients and she wished a happy Juneteenth and i wished it back but i also made the comment that we are celebrating a day that Texas was finally free but now that they made it national EVERYONE gets the day off. 🤦🏽♀️

I’ve always said Juneteenth was a stupid Holiday b/c it was a celebration to celebrate specifically the last freed slaves in Galveston, TX. It then became a Southern holiday that later caught on elsewhere. But the slaves in Galveston found out they were free 2-3 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. So basically, they worked 2-3 years as slaves when they didn’t have to. What’s to celebrate? That would piss me off! But, a free Holiday is a free Holiday if you don’t have to work I guess.

I like this video. You bring up good points. However, slavery ended 159 years ago. I came to this country 26 years ago not knowing one word of English and packed pots and pans in my suitcases bc I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford them once I got here. Now I make a 6 figure salary, speak fluent English and conversational Spanish. Determination and drive are the foundational key to success. You can’t tell me different! I’m the pure proof.

Their mission isn't tied to helping Black people specifically anymore, it's to help ALL when clearly we need it the most since many of our issues have been left unaddressed. Every other organization specifically focuses on helping their people own people as they should but ours was co-opted yet again to be inclusive. By design.
