I installed this lock about 3 weeks ago and I did install the center grill that came with it and it looks good even if the grill is different and it still get plenty of air , this was on my 2020 JT. It will work with a little nip and tuck. Much cleaner look with the already cut out.
Are you able to just leave the cap off and not cut the grill, like you have it around 3:13? Or would the grill prevent the key from going all the way in?
Every time I've used a hitch lock, the mechanism has been rusted shut by the time I go to swap it out. A reciprocating saw made surprisingly short work (under 10 seconds) of one, and a blowtorch caused the internals of another one to just melt out and open up.
So you are saying if someone sticks a screw driver in the key slot twisting and turning so your key will no longer work it is possible to just cut it off or heat it up to get it opened.... good to know.
I am looking for a hood lock, however it looks like the placement of this lock on the gril is where my 2021 4xe JL has the front camera installed. So my question is, will this fit on 2021 4xe JL with front camera installed? Thanks in advance.
This might be a silly question, but if it works with our factory key…can’t anybody else that have a JL factory unlock the hood with their same factory key?? We all have the same looking key for our JL..sorry if it’s a dumb question. I guess I don’t know how keys and locks really work..I just want to be sure before I spend the money to buy this.
What do you do with the front facing camera if you have one? I have the Z Automotive one, and I think I can move it lower. Does anyone know how this may affect the view? Anyone done this yet?
It was right at the cut in scene changes. Here is a hack to make removing the grille easier, especially if you have a winch and lights blocking the grill: ruclips.net/video/wXnxPlB3v34/видео.html
@@northridgenation I actually bought the lock. Very good product, and for my JL - I don't have to cut anything. Was pleasantly surprised - they include push pins and additional plastic snaps it case something breaks - very considerate. So glad programming it takes 3 seconds unlike Mopar lock - just programmed the gas tank plug-lock from Mopar - took me a freaking day. Too bad Bolt doesn't have one for the JL gas tank.

Did the same. No one even noticed the difference until I pointed it out. Lol
I bought this hood lock from Northridge back in April and it came with a free Bolt cable lock. Install was a breeze!
I'm still waiting on that darn free cable lock :D
They need to make one that works with the trail cam.
That would be nice!
BOLT needs to make a gas cap lock.
We would love to see that!
Aaaaarrrrrgggggggggg. Why is it soooo hard to find a locking gas door/cap for a Jeep jl?????????
@@mitchblackmore5230 I got the Mopar gas lock that you can use with your key-fob.
I’m from LA and I hate when things just walk away, very inconvenient.
Hi, Is there a version of this hood lock if you have a trail cam in the Gladiator??? Thanks in advance!
Not yet. Bolt says it is on their list of products to develop.
Ah! That sucks. Hopefully, they have one soon. Nice video as usual 👍
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!

You got it, the body of the key won't clear the grille.
@@northridgenation Thanks man!

Now that we have one installed, we'll see how long it lasts in the Rainey PNW.
Northridge4x4 I’m near Seattle as well, combined with some winter time in Utah, so lots of salt.

Instead of the rivets, can you use bolt and screws to secure the hood lock to the Jeep?
You should be able to.
@@northridgenation My lock is coming tomorrow. I will try with bolt and screws. I'm not sure what sizes would work.
What size rivets are those? I need to figure out what type rivet gun those rivets will fit/work with.
The rivet body is 1/4", the rivet pin 5/32".
They are a steel pin rivet, so you'll want a HD Rivet gun.
What type of Rivet gun was that? I need That. Where can i buy 1?
Those are a 17-1/2" heavy-duty rivet gun, they are usually listed by size,. Hit up your local autoparts or tool place and inquire about one.
I already have one on my jeep, but how to remove it? Because the bolt lock is stuck right now. And I can’t open hoop without remove bolt lock

Unfortunately this is not compatible with a factory front camera.
It looks like some people are able to install it below the camera?
Nice. How about options with trail cam or Taser aftermarket forward facing camera? #jtrspartacus
Unfortunately at this time Bolt doesn't have a hood lock that is compatible with the trail cam. Hopefully soon.
Northridge4x4 thanks for the reply!!

Where did you get the rivet gun?
You can get those online or from a hardware supply warehouse.
Check your local tool rental place and auto parts stores, some have hand tool rentals.

When you first put your key in and turn the lock, it sets itself to your key.
So it will only work with the key for your Jeep.
Will this work with a JT and the front facing trail cam? JL is offering the front facing trail cam as an option now too. Help?!
Unfortunately not at this time.

Hi. Does your hood lock work on 2021 Gladiator?
Yes it does!
Why doesnt Jeep just make a hood latch like normal cars?
Because Jeep???
Don't feel real good about cutting /trimming my grille !!!
Just use the supplied grill insert. It works perfectly.
You skipped a step to remove the bottom of the grill after the 6 top plastics. 🤯
It was right at the cut in scene changes.

Cutting, jigsawing, drilling the vehicle is completely unacceptable.
New to modifying 4x4s?
