I think one of the greatest reasons the Philippians have a strong connection with America is because of what I call "MacArthur's Biggest Promise" in which at the beginning of the Japanese invasion he promised he would return. America played a huge role in freeing the Philippians and he rest of the Pacific, and what do you know, he was greeted by 1/2 of Manila.
