Dave I'm 6'4" and these blankets are simply not made large enough, i would like the manufacturers to take note and make these at least 7' long as someone else noted a 7x7 would be great.............
Dave, I am not someone who feels I can give you advice, but you have always said to think out of the box. I have used each of the emergency blankets you mentioned. As I was using them, the thought came to me, and I am sure many others as well, is that they would be near perfect if they were 7X7 tarps. I am 6'2 and that makes them a little shy for comfort on very wet days. I also believe that the square tarp gives more more flexibility. It is my opinion that who ever develops the larger version of this tarp, with the same structural integrity as your, will be hitting it out of the park. Thank you for being the teacher that you are and sharing with all of us what you know.
Kind of a whiny thing, but it would be cool if you could buy an OD blanket with a HighVis case or vice versa. That way you could carry one item and use it either for high vis signaling (with the pouch) or for more inconspicuous cover (with the OD blanket). Basically one purchase for both cover and signaling purposes by mix-matching case and blanket colors.
Hello from Oklahoma! Sounds like a great product. I've seen these for years, but really people are bigger now. I'm 6' 3" and never bought one because they are made to small. If it was say 8x8 I would buy several. Thanks for all you do. Maybe I should buy 2. Problem solved.
I like that it comes in two colors. I like the green and am only 5'8", like you, but would like a larger sized blanket.8x8 or 9x9, just being picky. Thank you for a great video and a great product, please keep the videos and products coming.
Hey Dave, I saw Corporal Kelly's video on the other, new blanket. I like the bigger grommets, thicker material and the cheaper price on the Pathfinder version. I will probably end up with at least one of them. What I would like to ask, is why no one offers these in something bigger like a 7'x7' or 8'x8'? The 5'x7' blankets aren't hardly be enough for one person, much less two, like I would need it to do. I watched your video, where you combined two of these, with a long fire, that would house a victim and a rescuer. The two combined would give you, something like a 7'x8', with the overlap. Is that something you could check into. It seems, I'm not the only one who would like to see a bigger one of these. If you do, let me know, I would be very interested. You're the Man Dave, so if anyone can get it done, it's you. Take care, 73's
I have the Pathfinder green. I wouldn't trade it for anything, It has been beat by kids in a youth group, used many times by my grandson and me practicing his skill at set up and lashing, and even put up in a storm. Still going strong... and the bag is generous enough to hold a roll of bankline and other items for an unplanned camp situation.
The pathfinder blanket I received doesn't have the thicker coating. It's almost identical to my arcturus blanket. Kinda sad it's not the same one shown in the video😔
I like your gear because you make it to last like they did years ago. I will be ordering one of these for sure and retire my old SOS one with OD green :-)
Mr. Canterbury I like your channel, your teachings, and your gear.... I have a question and I don't know how to get it done or if it would be worth it... The question is can the emergency blanket idea be made bigger and more robust to use as a full size tarp for better shelters? I was thinking about a 10' × 10' tarp size unit, 2" webbing around the edges, full webbing reenforced grommets, and tie outs every 2 ft. Around the edges and in the center ( like on the DD tarps ), would it be to heavy? Expensive? Or realistic for using for a shelter? Respectfully.
I did a search on Amazon for "Pathfinder Emergency Blanket" and your new blanket did not show up. Could you provide a direct link? The Pathfinder appears to pack into a smaller form factor than my Arcturus. The Pathfinder appears to be more flexible. Is the Pathfinder lighter? Could you give us a comparison in the comments? I too would like a larger version and would be willing to pay for it.
Dang it Dave I need to just have a monthly bill sent to my house to cover your new gear when it comes out I got maybe this deer season left on my grabber tarp so I'm gonna be in the market for a replacement soon just in time I guess thanks again Dave for pushing gear farther
Hey dave, in addition to the idea that tall folks need more material, I thought the next logical step for this product would be to make the hem on thos be a cord material like paracord or bank line..that way one could set it up the way you have in this video, with impunity..
Would you reccomend this for camping use? I'm not much of a tent guy and I'm looking for a more primitive alternative that would be used about as frequently as the average camper uses a tent.
Awesome product and video as usual Dave! I would have to echo some of the dimension concerns as well....I would love to see this offered in say a 12 x12 ft size and would gladly pay $25 - $30 for that size! Just throwing that out there, as there are quite a few of us well over 6ft that enjoy the outdoors! Hope you consider that idea??
You’re gonna hate this, but it would be nice to see some sort of comparison of pulling on all three and seeing which one breaks last. The grommets seem to be the weak point in all of these things. Having said this, I would still go the pathfinder route with this one without the test.
Sadly, I've seen the Arcturus blanket fail miserably under stress, the material is not rip stop and the stitching is low quality. For use as a simple shelter, it looks fine. But I require something that will stand up under adverse [ within reason ] conditions. Most any tarp will suffice in good weather, still looking for something that will hold up in poor conditions.
Is anyone else thinking, hmm... for around 17 bucks, some shock cord and a little work, i could have an awesome under quilt for my hammock?... looks pretty awesome.
Dave, please consider making a 10×10 version.
I would always use this as my go-to camping tarp if it was 10×10.

Great stuff Dave. But keep in mind there’s a lot of tall people out there. I find all of these types of blankets to be too short.

Very nice! Will there ever be a bigger size available?
Please make one in 8x8 I would use it all the time the current size is too small for me

Good video Dave, you point out things about these blankets that are great things to know in advance of using them.
I've been using the Arcturus mylar sport utility blanket for a ground sheet for a while now, but I'm gonna check the Pathfinder one.
Dave back when he was still in fighting form. He's in eating form now. I love his school, his store, his focus and his grit.
It would seem from the comments that you could sell a lot of these if they were 7x7 , not an unreasonable request.......
Looks great Dave. You guys keep cranking out great products. Will get one. Thank you.
That emergency blanket looks nice and I do like the idea that the tie down holes are made more reliable and can last a long time.

WOW, hands down it’s the Path finder tarp. I’m sold.
Excellent.
Absolutely fantastic stuff. Carry Pathfinder gear with full confidence!

Nice product brother, as per usual! I have alot of pathfinder products and have yet to be disappointed! Thanks again!
Damn, now I have to figure out how to get one of these in Australia without paying more for the shipping than it does for the cost of the blanket...
Looks to be a great value and great product Dave!
Like it, I'll throw one on the order with my canteen set.
G thanks for another great product you are good at getting me to spend money I just bought 2 of them lol.
I'll be adding this to my gear. Thank you.
Why not one with a good like the Grabbers used to have? Maybe with snaps or velcro to fasten it as a poncho or a shelter?
Awesome tarp Dave, thanks!
Hope Australia was good to you cobber dingo
Would be good to catch ya on the next time your here hopefully up the blue mountains course 👍
Are the grommets on the Pathfinder blanket made of stainless steel, brass or brass, plated steel?
Definitely adding to my shopping list! Thanks!
I need one now.

Nice E-blanket, I will have to get one!
Looks like a good product indeed!
I love these "type" of videos

Do you recommend the orange or the green? I know it depends on the emergency, like whether you're lost or bugging out...
Solid video. Great content for the community. Update on a useful product
I wonder what one conceals a person's heat signature better. Got a FLIR for testing?
If a man had nothing to start bushcrafting what would you recommend to buy on your website ( pre made kit or individual items) to start with?
Wish it had a poncho hood !!! But great item .
How well does what you teach on the use of plants and trees translate for use from eastern woodlands to east Texas piney woods?
Great new blanket, Dave! Does the reflective side also have a thicker coating too? Would be awesome if it also came in camo as well! Thanks! :)
add those to the haversack kits Dave, that would be awesome!
Found my new blanket, also I want that millbank bag but don't want to buy the large bottle. Cant find it for sale sole on your website.
Would you reccomend this for camping use? I'm not much of a tent guy and I'm looking for a more primitive alternative that would be used about as frequently as the average camper uses a tent.
Just got your book Bushcraft 101 in the mail.
Also thanks for the video, I am going to change from the simple space blanket.
Very nice product at a good price.
Very Usefull. Thank you David. See you next time on Italy.
Can’t seem to find info on the pathfinder bed roll. I think I’d like to get it but not sure if it will hook up to my scout path or bush crafter pack.
Greetings Dave ;-) If I'm not mistaken, you've been using SOL Sport Utility Blanket for a long time as well. Any comments on that?
Greetings, are there future plans for an international orange version too? There are those time when one wants to been seen. Thanks . pax,
Orange is on the way
I'm looking for good winter hammock setup. Would these work well as sleeping pad and top quilt?

I may be the odd one out in the comments, but as a Filipino at about 5’7” I’m ok with this lol
Orange is already sold out

why did you come out with this 4 years ago :) could have save me some $
I’m assuming he meant Arcturus not Arc’teryx. Hard to distinguish what he’s saying there and they both make outdoors gear.
Boom! 1st view and 1st comment!
Really hate the word ''emergency blanket'', not made to really be what they are meant for to most.
How’s that?
