Hi Steve. It's very nice to know i'm not the only one messing stuff up on a boat!!! Seriously though that was great, you learn so much more from watching how not to do it sometimes than seeing it done perfectly. You have also demonstrated that even an Asymmetric spinnaker can be a hassle getting to fly. Have you ever tried a tiller tamer on the sea or do they just not work with all the increased bobbing about. I have found that a very basic tiller tamer that just keeps the tiller amidships can buy me 30-60 seconds of time up front, but that's on a lake.
Hi Dave. My tiller tamer is an elastic loop on the cleat at the aft end of the centre-plate housing! You can see it "working" 4:40 into this video ruclips.net/video/UxoW7ICZ2kg/видео.html I like the elastic as I can still make big and quick tiller movements if necessary without spending time to remove the elastic. When working up front with the spinnaker I like to keep the tiller extension in my hand to avoid anything untoward happening!
