- This is the BAUER NEXUS ADV. One of the craziest hockey sticks that I've ever seen...what do you think?
BLADE: Why a hole? (SlingTech)
By adding a hole in the blade, they were able to create two separate blade sections with different properties that work together while loading and releasing shots.

What's the point of a stick with a hole if you're just gonna cover up the hole.

The point is to create a slingshot effect. The bottom half, when taking a shot, is very flexible and will pull back with the puck while the top part above the hole will stay put. The top part gives the bottom part leverage to whip back into position during the last part of the shot, giving the puck more velocity off the blade than if there were no hole. Putting tape on the stick doesnt affect the whiplash effect bc the tape material isnt strong enough to hold the top and bottom part of the stick together during a shot. Not entirely sure why I took the time to explain it but I have so there you go

I feel the exact same with the shot, I do actually think it makes impact on your shot making it a bit harder and a lot more easier to pick out certain corners.

Bauer gloves, helmet, jersey, pants, socks, skates, stick. Definitely was told everything has to be Bauer or he can’t get the stick. 😂

I have the Nexus ADV (87 flex P92) and I love it. The stick is VERY responsive and shots launch effortlessly. It does hold up with a slap shot with no problem. The shaft shape didn't affect the feel at all. As for the SlingTech there is definitely a different pop that I haven't felt on another stick. And yes, the blade IS durable - some douche slashed the top of the blade during a game and it was fine. THE HOLE IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR A PUCK TO GO THROUGH IT. Had to put it out there LOL...
Bauer has definitely improved their ADV sticks. The original Vapor ADV felt fragile and too soft for the flex rating, and the blade cracked very easily. I also have the Supreme ADV, and the slap shots are where that one shines. Slap shots are really powerful on the Supreme ADV. Wristers and snappers are just as good on the Supreme as they are on the Nexus. As for puck handling, it is top notch across all three ADV iterations, and when you charge down the ice with one hand on the stick, it feels like you're not even holding anything.

I recommend taping it the way you did it, and then grabbing some sharp blade like a box cutter or somethin, and cut right down the middle of the hole in bother sides, then fold the ends of the tape into the hole and then you have the hole exposed with the whole blade covered. I’ve been running this tape job and stick for about a year, and it is amazing. It’s very easy to move, the shaft felt weird when I first got it but now I can’t use another stick without the adv shaft style. If you got money and are trying to find a stick that can give you a great feel on the puck and look sick, this is the stick.

I feel like taping the stick up completely is counterproductive considering the biggest reason of having a hole in the blade is to allow air to pass through it allowing you to have a quicker shot.

Why didn't you cut out the tape where the hole is, so it actually has an effect
that's not the point of the hole, that design as a whole creates a slingshot effect for a harder shot with less effort. The tape has no impact on this

1000 Subs With 1 Video Challenge air resistance is not the point of the hole. With the softer bottom half of the blade and stiffer top half it’s creates a slingshot effect.

in the late 80's early 90's I had a Titan that used on street games but it got worn down to was that size of blade is and my slap shot on ice was nuts!!!! fast and powerful!

You made me want to play hockey but I am 13 and I need to use a stick that is not that expensive what do you recommend nasher?
I'd like to see how the blade reacts to receiving passes and pucks that aren't flat on the ice.
Surely the hole will effect the angle a puck will fly off at and make it less predictable.
As in the puck hitting the edges of the hole and ricocheting off

It probably barely changes a thing if you tape normally. If you tape through the hole then i supposed there'd be less wind resistance.
