    Thank you for this video. What is the little strap and button for at the front of the carrier?

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  3 месяца назад +1

      @hollyellis318 Believe it or not, the manufacturer suggests that you should have that button done up between 7-10lbs “TO PREVENT YOUR BABY FROM FALLING THROUGH THE LEG HOLE!!” 🤣 Honestly, if your baby is at risk of falling through the leg hole, then they are WAY too small for you to be able to fulfill ANY of the safety criteria mentioned in this video & shouldn’t be in this carrier. If your baby is in the carrier & you’re happy that you’re meeting the safety criteria mentioned, then you don’t need that button. Hope that helps. 👍🏼

    Shouldn't the snaps be undone for newborns at the hip? I thought their legs have to be in the M position?

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  Год назад +6

      The buttons on the front of the carrier, near the hips, are redundant. Infantino say that they should be fastened between 3-4.5kgs to prevent the baby falling out through the leg hole. That's honestly absurd. With the body panel between their legs & the 4 buckles fastened, babies are not going to get anywhere close to falling out of the leg holes. Similar buttons exist on the BabyBjorn Carriers and are equally as redundant there.
      The M Position helps to distribute the baby's weight around your torso more effectively, but as long as you don't have a diagnosis or family history of hip problems, it is not essential. The video does give instructions on how to improve your baby's seated position & mentions why the demo dolls don't manage to do this. I hope that helps.

    I have a question. Aren't babies supposed to be in the m position? With the smaller seat it seams as though babies legs are just dangling. I bought this carrier as a short term while I order one that has more support for both of us. I don't believe this carrier is approved by the hip dysplasia institute, could this be why?

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  5 месяцев назад +3

      The fear around hip dysplasia is unnecessary in most cases. If your baby hasn’t been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and you do not have a family history of hip dysplasia, then I wouldn’t worry too much. Yes, having a baby in the M shape is optimal, but in most cases, a suboptimal seat position will not cause any harm to your baby. As babies grow, keeping them in a nice “knees up/bum down” position helps to distribute their weight more effectively around your torso & so helps them feel lighter as you carry them. 👍🏼

    I get worried that the carrier is cutting off circulation in my baby’s legs.. not sure if I’m doing something wrong?

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  2 месяца назад

      It shouldn’t be that tight around their legs. Make sure their weight is on the back of their bottom & they have a proper seated position. This is the optimal position for baby’s comfort. 👍🏼

    I have a 8 pound 3oz new born baby so I should position the waist band below my bust correct?

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  4 месяца назад

      Start with it below your bust &, if you feel like you need the panel to come higher up your baby’s body, you can wiggle the waistband lower. It’s really counterintuitive but, lowering the waistband makes the body panel taller.

    How can loosen the straps at the front at the top? I cant seem to do it

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  6 месяцев назад

      Treat the buckles at the top just like you would buckles on a bag. If you angle them away from your body they will loosen.

  • @thiswonderlandlife

    If I snap the top down to be to the nape of the neck it's lower than the nape of the neck. Is it okay to leave it up? He's only 7.5 weeks.

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  8 месяцев назад

      Try popping your hands inside the carrier, holding his pelvis & tucking his bottom under. This will help him have a better seated position & you may find he sits a little lower. 🙂

  • @Tinx92
    @Tinx92 Год назад

    What weight would you say to open the flaps on the bottom? My girl is nearly 5m and the manual is useless 😂

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  Год назад +4

      Hi. Honestly, it’s less about weight & more about the length of her legs. If you make the seat wider & your daughter can sit in the carrier with her knees comfortably bent over both sides then she fits. If the wider setting means that the carrier goes past the back of her knees & extends down her lower leg, then she’s still a little small & needs to go back to the narrow setting for a little longer. I hope that helps. 🙂

    Once I button the head part down, it’s too much of my baby head/neck exposed

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  10 месяцев назад

      Most of your baby's head support comes from getting a nice seated/ "M"/squat position - this carrier doesn't do that terribly well. If you feel like you're not getting enough head support from the carrier, I recommend finding your local Baby Wearing Consultant/Sling Library to try some alternattive options.

    Maximum kg?

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy
      @TheBabywearingAcademy  7 месяцев назад

      The carrier has been safety tested to about 14kg, but will probably be uncomfortable long before that. Generally it’s around grown by around 6m.

      What are the small little side things and the bottoms it joins to at the front for ? I didn’t see you use them… I tried doing them up with her legs but sooo tight ouch

    • @TheBabywearingAcademy

      @@emilykate647 Do you mean the toggles/buttons?? They are to make the seat wider for a bigger baby. I have another video that shows that. Check out my Infantino Flip playlist.

      @@TheBabywearingAcademy it’s those small tiny straps on the left and right side that clip onto the front two buttons. They’re really thin strap looking things
      I thought they were for the legs to go in between? It was so squashy for her I was about to throw the whole thing in the bin cos I thought it didn’t fit her legs! So what are they for exactly ?? I noticed yours are just hanging and you didn’t touch them at all during the entire video

      @@TheBabywearingAcademy I just watched it an ok those toggle button things ok I see now
      But no it’s more what I’m talking about those thinnest straps on the left and right that are originally connected to the buttons at the front when you purchase the item. It’s hard to show you as I can’t send you a photo. What are they used for?
