@@MsTringan It is a disgrace because it white-washes Egyptians and Israelites in cinema. Cinematic Colonialism no longer has a place in filmmaking now, representation actually matters now more than when such false portrayals were legal.

Kick one of them CGI demo tapes off that list and put *The Egyptian* on it. Fiction, but tries to depict a context of historic plausibility with improvisational candor.
The exodus is found to be fiction. Moses did not grow up with ramses the second. There is a whole series on the this. Ramses the second was a warrior king who also signed the first peace treaty in the world. He was away warring most of his reigning years.
what about the Cecil B DeMille versions of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS and CLEOPATRA? Kudos on knowing about AGORA. You can hardly count a version of THE MUMMY - and even if you did, Boris Karloff or Christopher Lee did it better. You might as well do ASTERIX AND CLEOPATRA CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA, if only for Claude Rains being almost the only authentically short Caesar onscreen. Another of the many wrong things about EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS: Egyptians and Hittites didn't use horses as cavalry. You missed probably the best: Howard Hawks LAND OF THE PHARAOHS
Do you expect such an uneven list to be taken seriously. One selection was questionable - another downright silly. The fact you overlooked Fox’s The Egyptian is even more glaring. Do your homework.
Ten commandments seems to be the best as far as costumes and erecting the obelisk was probably how it was done. Somebody did some research on that movie. Cleopatra was done ok, but probably over the top on the parade into Rome.

I agree! Hollywood really should give those civilizations proper representation too.

The Mummy Returns
X-MEN: Apocalypse
X-MEN: Apocalypse ! love it.
Terrible pics.
@@OkurkaBinLadin the fuck is u talkin' bout?
Please, what is the name of the movie?
Agora and Exodus are not on Netflix. Where to watch these?
Bflix
The gods of Egypt. Good film. It's a shame they don't do a lot of films of Egyptian myths. Great story's. Not all ways but mostly abount mummies. Good show.👍
Exodus is the most distorted movie in this list!
I remember really liking Land of the Pharaohs.
the prince of egypt? GOAT
You should have included Land of then Pharoahs , only the Ten Commandments is better
Cleopatra is four hours of my life I'll never get back -_- One argument was six fucking scenes and Elizabeth Taylor wore a different costume in each one! The proper name for that movie is, "How many costumes can we shove Elizabeth Taylor into?"
😂
I remember the hype about this movie a year or more before it was even released. Probably the most over-hyped movie starring the most over-hyped actress and perfect tabloid couple. What you describe is pretty much what I've always expected. Never got around to seeing it. Wouldn't mind, however. Give it a fair shot, eh?
Real Egyptians must be pissed. Only Cleopatra and Agora actually happened. All the other stories were fake...though the Mummy never pretended to be real.
glad you said that
I thought modern Egyptians try to censor old non-Islamic history now. Maybe I'm just confusing different Islamic organizations. I only know of two Egyptians that played Egyptians, one I learned of recently: Rami Malek and Sami Samir.
The Ten Commandments was fake demon!
@@MrAnwer96 of course the demonic are in lock step with the demonic
For Christians, the Bible story is real.
Christian Bale (Moses) great actor and great movie Exodus
I have seen all 4 movies but not Agora. I can not comment about the Egyptians history cos I don't know about it. All I know from documentaries the findings algrologists finds. Sometimes they can be wrong or can they?
Another vote for “Land of the Pharaohs” a very intelligent film directed by Howard Hawks. A splendid performance by Jack Hawkins. Joan Collins camps it up and Dewy Martin is hunky and sincere.
And written by William Faulkner!
"Exodus: Gods & Kings" was a disgrace! Elizabeth Taylor's "Cleopatra" and the 1956 version of "The Ten Commandments" have always been one of my favorites. "The Mummy" I liked when it first released yet now wish had been filmed differently (primarily with casting). "Agora" is excellent and one of the best on this list! The era of whitewashing History is over and it is good that Hollywood is starting to understand that.
Disgrace why? I do not know if it's hystorically accurate but it's certainly entertaining
@@MsTringan It is a disgrace because it white-washes Egyptians and Israelites in cinema. Cinematic Colonialism no longer has a place in filmmaking now, representation actually matters now more than when such false portrayals were legal.
@Amanda Allison I was unaware of the new "Snow White" and "Hercules" film you mentioned. However, I am aware of the upcoming live version of "The Little Mermaid" (which personally I do not have a problem with as opposed to the other two). The new series about Anne Boleyn I did see and yes while it is a fact she was not African, I did like seeing Jodie Turner Smith play her (even though there are real black figures in Tudor/Elizabethan England whose stories are worthy of being told). You make a clear point, that I agree with you on. The "washing" has not gone away yet it is good that more films are being made with actual representation in mind.
The modern Egyptians are descended from the ancient Egyptians, they are not black
@@amore1918 A lot of their artwork and the mummies gives proof to the contrary.
Where is the ancient egypt? Only bible movies where the egyptians are the bad guys, and was NOT during ancient egypt, and the rest is during the ptolomeic dynasty, again not ancient egypt
youtube bring back the wide screen on the side remove the black bars i like youtube like it was in the old day full screen was full screen with no black bars full screen like you tv
Kick one of them CGI demo tapes off that list and put *The Egyptian* on it. Fiction, but tries to depict a context of historic plausibility with improvisational candor.
The only Pharaonic dynasty that was white was the Ptolemaic dynasty. They were of Greek/Macedonian origin.
I'm Egyptian and your words are true, man
@@saadayad202 my brother
The exodus is found to be fiction. Moses did not grow up with ramses the second.
There is a whole series on the this. Ramses the second was a warrior king who also signed the first peace treaty in the world. He was away warring most of his reigning years.
God of Egypt 1 more movie
How could they leave this out?
Polish Pharaoh is also pretty good. It actually tells story from POV of egyptian ruler.
@@OkurkaBinLadin I have been meaning to watch that one and read the novel its based on.
"Gods of Egypt" was totally whitewashed.
The egyptian was a good movie from the 50's
I would not have done the Exodus movie. I would do the movie called The Egyptian from 1954 instead.
Land of the Pharaohs?!
Army of the Pharaohs 💙📉🏁
what about the Cecil B DeMille versions of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS and CLEOPATRA?
Kudos on knowing about AGORA.
You can hardly count a version of THE MUMMY - and even if you did, Boris Karloff or Christopher Lee did it better. You might as well do ASTERIX AND CLEOPATRA
CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA, if only for Claude Rains being almost the only authentically short Caesar onscreen.
This list is made for purely publicement. Where was THE EGYPTIAN and LAND OF THE PHARAOHS?
❤❤Wow
The mummy films are class tbh
they are bad
Ten commandments seems to be the best as far as costumes and erecting the obelisk was probably how it was done. Somebody did some research on that movie. Cleopatra was done ok, but probably over the top on the parade into Rome.
I agree with The Ten Commandments.
Land of the Pharaohs Jack Hawkins
I still have a vivid childhood memory of the sealing of the pyramid at the end. Gave me the willies for days!
My favourite is exodus when ramesses the great and cleopatra are brothers
So,
No.5) Moses
No.4) Cleopatra
No.3) spooky timetraveling mummy
No.2) Cleopatra girlboss mode
No.1) Moses again
What’s the song used on the trailer of Exodus (0:13) ?
This movie name
Mad to think none of these films have no accurate historic depictions... I dont see one black person
Because there were barely any blacks in Egypt (except for the Nubians in the south).
Lmfaoo Egyptians we’re mostly black you clown, there are literal historic facts at your finger tips you are on the internet aren’t you ?
maybe because they arent portraying slaves
I don't why I love ancient Egypt and Egyptian misiv
Thank you
i've always been fascinated with ancient egypt but.. all this movies w white actors and horrible modernized costumes are... so disappointing, I can't even get into the mummy as much as I used to as child. i so wish we could get a more diverse cast for a truly ancient Egyptian setting in a movie, with no Christian morale to distract from the amazing culture long past.. i know we don't 100 % know what ancient Egyptians looked like skin color-wise but we also 100% know they weren't white.. soo Hollywood at least do this right.. once
Totally agree with you.
i like egyptian vibe
Agora wasn't about Egypt it was about Greece
The Egyptian (1954) is the best.
Exodus!
