It may seem that everything was very easy and simple. Took the stones, brought clay from the river, and laid everything neatly and quickly. But everything was much more complicated. The lower part of the fireplace is not complicated. But the middle part - the firebox, and the upper part - the pipe - were very difficult to build.
It was especially difficult to make a semicircular arch of stones, which is the upper part of the fireplace window. And it was also a big problem to lay out the top of the firebox in a semicircle :)
But i made it pretty well. True, the skin on my hands was worn off from constant work with rough stones and clay. When rubbed, the effect of sandpaper is obtained. Try getting your hands wet and rubbing them with sandpaper. Gradually, the skin will begin to wear off :)
But I survived that too.
The moment with the release of smoke into the dugout turned out to be not entirely successful.
When the pipe was heated, the thrust turned out to be very strong. However, some of the smoke still gets inside the dugout if the fire weakens.
I haven't been able to figure out the reason for this yet.
Perhaps you need to make a chimney tooth?
However, despite this, if you stoke the fireplace and do not leave the fire for the night, the stones remain warm until the morning!

I checked the temperature and humidity inside the dugout with a thermometer-hygrometer - inside it was warm and dry, but outside it was quite cool and almost 100% humidity.
This is a good result, I think.
I also tried the fireplace in the preparation of various, albeit simple, dishes. I baked a tortilla on the inside wall of fireplace, baked a lingonberry pie, cooked a baked potato. Very convenient and most importantly delicious!
Also, I made a cellar in a dugout for food storage. The temperature there turned out to be much lower than in the heated dugout. This is good.
And to add some daylight without opening the door, I removed some logs from the front wall and made a window there that is covered with floating poles tied with rope.
Finally, a mattress was made from moss and canvas bags. This will give more comfort for spending the night and add warmth from below.

Survival......when the cities become nuclear bombed wastelands after World War 3....Putin pressing hard on it as we type....the preppers will have gone into hiding in the wilderness to try and survive when literally billions of people are dying due to radiation and nuclear bombs....why else....build in the wilderness some cabins....maybe just a hobby like to camp and fish.

Дело в алгоритмах ютуб. Он считает (зачем-то) аналитику по первым 30 секундам просмотра ролика. Исходя из этого (и конечно других параметров) решает, показывать более широкой аудитории или нет. Это не мода, это вынужденная мера :)

Your plaster mixture for the fireplace is that just mud, or are you mixing the mud with something else?
This is clay with a small admixture of cement so that it does not get wet from the rain.

you need build RAM pump water can move near cabin. and fill lot more clay to stove ewerytime u come to cabin. because if back wall crack lot burn all cabin off.

There are many channels that tell you how to better set up the camera, choose a shooting angle, improve the sound, and more.
And while shooting a certain scenario, I just don’t have free time to shoot backstage scenes :)
Maybe someday I'll be able to shoot something like that with a cameraman...

would a layer of that clay mud on the wood walls before you lay in the rock been good idea to insulate and reflect/radiate the heat back and also protect from fire in case the mortar in the rock cracks or fails? curious on your thoughts ,thank you very much for what you do and God bless🌎🕊💜🛐

This is awesome but however these dugouts aren’t waterproof. Hard rain running down the mountain is bound to leak in. After the ground is saturated water will start seeping in thru the walls? Just asking. Thanks
Thank you. No, water does not seep inside. The slope of the hill is large, the water quickly flows down the turf. Inside the dugout is always dry.

You are doing an exceptional job on both the cabin and the video quality I think if you could redirect a water source from somewhere so that you have a water stream or even a pond near the dugout that'd be really cool but I'm excited to see more of your ideas!
Will you be insulating your interior walls with clay for winter insulation? Your cozy dugout cabin and the beautiful fireplace and chimney you built is so impressive especially the arch to hang a kettle, pot or cauldron for cooking.

I was thinking about making pottery, that must be interesting. But while I don't have enough skills, I should get the necessary experience :)
I also plan to make a terrace in front of the entrance to the dugout, where I can place a comfortable chair and assemble a stone bowl for making a safe fire in the open air. After all, in the summer there is no need to heat a fireplace inside the dugout, and food needs to be cooked somewhere)

А ,что на саму глину класть камни нельзя ? Обязательно обмазывать? У моего деда в таёжной избушке тоже печь была глиняная с камнями только с дверцей из бочки или ведра вырезанной. Лет 50 назад , помню тепло было в избушке под утро только остывало а так нормально. Ну а по хорошему конечно молодец , только с таким камином прямоходным зимой окочуришься да и дрова будут гореть как порох.

Humidity and temperature.
Relative humidity, tells you how saturated the air is with water at the given temperature which the meter also displays.
Any values above 100% and you get condensation or maybe rain :)

For the potatoes, put down a flat stone in the coals and get it hot. Put the potato on it and cook. That will make the skin more edible. You can even baste with water if you like.

Да, я придумал такой вариант вывода для трубы. Просто сделать и легко открыть потом :)
Отличная идея! Еще вопрос: - многие настелают на бревна крыши всякие тенты, чтобы земляне сыпалась, и потом уже закидывают землей. Но там свои тонкости(конденсат и тд) ... У вас как с потолком дела обстоят? )
Я сначала просто песком и дёрном укрыл. Но песок сыпался и я переделал. Постелил мембранную ткань, как для крыш в домах используют. И конденсата нет, и песок не сыпется, и не протекает 👍

Привет. Когда тестировал, получилось так:
Топил часа 4, до 11 вечера.
Температура ночью была около 4 градусов.
В 7 утра камни были ещё тёплые.
Большой массив камней, долго остывают.
