  • Today on Classic Gun Reviews I do a review of the Choate Polymer side folding stock for the US M1 .30 Caliber Carbine. This fits the US WWII military M1 carbine.
    * Note: I forgot to mention that the Length of Pull (LOP) is 13.8 inches.

Those Choate stocks are great. The one for the Mini-14 is excellent. The folding stock is solid, and doesn't jiggle at all. When it's locked in either position, it stays. No play or movement. Enjoyable video!

Thank you! I appreciate the nice comment. I had an early Mini-14 that had a choate on it and like you said very stable platform and much cheaper by far than the Ruger folding stock.

@@ClassicGunReviews Life sucks because I have a Mini14 - 180 Ranch series and I can't find a tactical stock and limited to the 5 rnd. mag it came with... I really want to modernize her with a poly tac stock and 20 - 30 rnd mags...

I love my Iver Johnson from the 80's. They built her to military specs... not so much like other after-market models. I went a picked up the Choate and changed the iron sights with a HUD/laser sight combo

That's great that the Choate fit on your Iver Johnson, sounds like a nice setup.

      Whats Hud Combo?
Iver Johnson is the second Owner of Plainfield Machine Company
I actually Bought a Primary Arms ACSS Cyclops.
But I put Iron sights on m1 .
Once you figure out 250 is 300 yards center of gap between 250 and 300
      is 400 yards .
and 300 yard mark is 500 yards right on the money.
I am having trouble blocking my iron sights lol.

@@alonzahanks1182 A simple hologram/laser dot, sighted to no more than 100 yards. My idea is to use her as a close-quarters tactical sidearm... think MP5 in an Urban setting.

I got one and love it. I had to do a little fitting so while I had the dremel out I removed the webbing in the butt. It looks way cooler like that, but after I did it, I realized it's probably there to prevent snagging. I've never had that as a problem but can see where it could happen in brush

I have a chotes 5 position stock on my m1 carbine. I love it makes it look like a mini m1a EBR.
Lots of people think it ruins the carbine, but it literally just drops in just like the wooded stock. Plus, it holds zero much better with the chotes stock.
If ammo wasn't so expensive, I'd shoot my carbine every week.

I like the folding stock and the pistol grip. It would be nice if there's a shorter barrel like the Uzi and a 30 round magazine.

I purchased a Auto Ordnance that came with a Choate stock from the factory. It was the only available M1 at the time
Very well built, super solid and perfect lock up. However the length of pull is a little to long for me.

    • @ClassicGunReviews
      @ClassicGunReviews  2 года назад +1

That's good to know about the Auto Ordnance fitting in the Choate stock, it must be close to mil-spec I would think. Too bad about the LOP is long for you, the AO should be a drop in fit in a walnut stock if you don't mind the wood.

My friend has a transferable m2 carbine with that stock on it. Its pretty awesome and way fun to shoot. Id love to find a M1 carbine that isnt collectible but reliable and well made so i can shoot it willy nilly. Not sure if id go for this stock but I think Choate makes a semi pistol grip stock as well that follows the lines of the original but in black plastic. Either way thats a cool M1 carbine. Thanks for showing it.

Wow, shooting an M2 that must be fun with it's low recoil. I think you're describing the Choats Sporting stock, it's a good stock too reminiscent of the polymer Ruger Mini-14 stock.. both very ergonomic for me.

Yes that would be nice.. like ultimak style built in. I want to put a flashlight on it so I wish it had a small side rail. I'm thinking of drilling holes for screws and mount my own small rail for the light.. I think it will work since it's solid strong polymer and not hollow.
      Happy New Year too !

Hi Shawn.. yes! I'ts a Roman numeral clock, I bought this on ebay over 15 years ago and has been running ever since. I love this clock and never had seen another like it. It sets by tilting the right side up and it makes the LEDs count up faster and faster depending on how high an angle you go and lower it to slow it down and stop. No buttons anywhere. Runs on 110vac. Keeps good time. I've had this clock on many of my ham radio videos and this is the first time anyone has mentioned it!

I haven't tried the Ultimak rail on it, but no reason it shouldn't fit since the Ultimak doesn't take any more room than the wooden or synthetic handguard. It sure would be a nice addition to the M1.
