Everytime a school shooting happens and kids are mercilessly taken from this world, it's like a knife just went through my heart 💔. It breaks my heart that people think that they need to run these drills with children because of school shootings. The problem is that these parents really know nothing about what they're teaching their children which is also just as heartbreaking

Do it all for all four of my kiddos every year...listen to your teacher but if someyhing happend when your alone, run until you cant run, hide until you cant hide, fight until you cant fight...these are the vulnerable spots to get the person hurting you on the ground, then you run. You want to make attacking you not worth the effort, youll fight back, make noiseetc. Its not on you to stop or incapacitate rhe shooter, uou just need to buy urself time to run...

It's honestly horrible that we even need these drills at schools, let alone at homes. The world is such a cruel place, I don't understand why people would shoot up a school, especially an elementary, they're just innocent children.
At my school we had to do a realistic drill which they will start doing more now. It's so sad that even younger kids have to do it too. But you have to prepare them in case they have to see their classmates dead bodies. Which shouldn't even be something we have to warn kids of.
I remember this real lock down I go to stem for school it happened in third grade so this guys car had broke down so he was walking and then the officer he said for everyone to go inside so everyone was running inside getting in classrooms and we were all quiet and my teacher let us do whatever we want because we still had a couple minutes of recess but we just had to be really quiet and so I was about to cry because I was really scared and while my friend and her friends were laughing a little bit it’s probably because of some thing this song but I was about to cry because I was really scared but it was just because some guys car had broke down so he just went to the front office to talk to them if they can call it tow truck so yeah that was like a really scary moment because I thought it was a shooter but it wasn’t so and then the principal had came in our classrooms and told us it was someone who needed something so yeah…
As a Latina I never experienced this type of things, and watching this and more stuff about this really breaks my heart….Kids from USA have to get trough this horrible situation. I hope this never happens in my school

I’m legit crying right now like I wouldn’t know what to do I’m this situation at all and the best thing I can think of is if the shooter is on the other side of the school or just far enough I’m using all my strength to punch and break that window with whatever I can find and run immediately through the woods to anywhere safe and just to not stop running is my best bet to live cuz the cops better not stay outside forever like in Texas and if I can’t run I’m hiding behind a dead body or just anyone

as someone who has been in a school shooting, i have never regretted something more in my life. i was 9, and it was aftercare. it was only me and 8 other kids. we hid underneath the desks and every one was spelling out words in sign language to talk. our 19 year old instructed spelled, S-T-A-Y D-O-W-N. I-N B-U-I-L-D-I-N-G. i was THE anxiety kid, and i will never ever have enough thanks for the kid next to me, he was a boy 2 years older than me, and was my neighbor, for scooting away and giving me room while i was having a panic attack under the desk, and he covered my mouth. the shooter was dressed in all black and I SWEAR i saw him look through the window, and everyone else did too, because we all looked at each other. before all this was happening and it was just a warning, this guy who teased me was telling the guy who covered my mouth that he was sorry for him, having to live next to me. then that same kid signed sorry to me under the desk across from me.
It’s sad. People shouldn’t have to be doing this, but it’s sadly necessary for our safety, you can hear the seriousness and tremble in her voice if this ever happened to her kid. “Mommy will find you” she says it as ferm as possible. She’s being a good mom.
At my school we run to the field at the bottom of the hill but I will run home I know the I would call my mom when I got home, call my brother because he goes there and just be thankful I’m alive. My school setup is an elementary school at the bottom of the hill and my middle school at the top. My sister attends the elementary school and my mom works there. The chances of a shooting are slim due to that but not 0. The elementary school would go on lockdown if something were to happen, but I would still call. I would probably wait a while to call my brother bc what if the shooter was nearby? I could text him tell him I’m okay and I ran home and that I love him.

We had a bomb threat in 35 counties including mine last year and the fact that it could be real is what scares me. Even I know it’s bad bc on the last day of school, someone popped a balloon and I looked back to make sure it was a balloon and not someone shooting up the school. I’m all for hunting and owning guns. I, myself, know how to safely use guns, but we need stricter laws around them.

TV commericals used to sell toy guns to kids all the time in the 70s that you can watch on RUclips. The fault is at the society in which we live in. You’re a student in America that’s going to wake up one day and see a country on fire very soon. Climate Change is going to change our way of life in the following decades very fast and sudden… and there is nothing we can do about it anymore. Yet, we still fake as if we still have a future…
My 2nd grade teacher said if we ever have a school shooting I’ll have an axe or a strong thing and break the window and run to the nearest church and if one of us is still in the restroom she would say wait and hide or she would risk her life and pull us in the classroom
