  • this type of fix will work with all type of small fridges but before you do this job you need to have general knowledge on how to use HVAC gauges and oxygen welding after that everything will be easy for you.

    I'm feeling anxious about re-gassing of my car's air conditioning system and was 'floating about RUclips ' for inspiration and ideas ,as you do, and was mesmerized by your video. The music and calm, slow rhythm of your work mellowed my mood. For that I thank you 🙏 lloyd.

    You'd make something wrong, when you charged at the yellow hose, you supposed to remove the air from the hose by opening the right side wheel and close it again to remove the air.

    Do u also use epoxy or pratley to close leak on the evaporator coil especially that is difficult to repair by welding

    Also when i cleaning the system i can use second compressor as my vacuum pump by using thinners and liquid flush, so doesn't these affect the second compressor when vacuuming because they will enter into the second compressor not all but maybe little. And the thinners and liquid flush will mix with compressor oil. Again when blowing air to remove the remaining thinners and liquid flush you pressure it to the highest level on the gauge.

  • @education9135

    So the second compressor its air being pressured qnd not R134 a and again on the second compressor the suction is also has access valve just like the discharge and charging side and lastly u can use this method on R600 a

    Great video Moe! But how do you power the spare compressor? I see you ran a power cord but I can t figure how you hooked it up to compressor.

    During pressurised the system for checking leakage, we have to start only old fridge (second) compressor. I.e. not to start both compressor?

    • @mmo198111
      @mmo198111  4 года назад

      Right never start the 1st compressor during the the fix only when you start to charge the system

    Instructional video thank you for sharing!
    Two questions:
    1. Do you only charge through the low side for this repair? Don't believe I ever saw you use the high side port on the gauges.
    2. Could I use an air compressor to charge the system with air?
    Thanks

      5-8 psi is too high for a Refrigerator/Freezer using 134a. Should be about 3 psi and 0 for a deep freezer

    • @Jake-by9ly
      @Jake-by9ly 3 года назад +5

      It is best to charge system with nitrogen to test for leaks to prevent contamination from water and other stuff in the air. Thus guy is no professional. He likely put water in the system using air which could plug the filter dryer and corrode the tubing from inside out. Pull into deep vacuum for 5 minutes to remove condensables and hold in vacuum for at least 20 minutes before adding R134a. If guage moves up even a little, then you still have a leak. One should have a scale to weigh the amount of Refrigerant being added. Some auto parts dealers will rent them or even lend them for free if you buy refrigerant and supplies from them. DO NOT use any R134a containing oil, dye or leak sealant for automobile systems. Vehicles use a different oil than home and commercial Refrigerators do. You'd contaminate the system with the wrong oil. Refrigerators use pure polyester (Ester) oil.

      @@Jake-by9ly appreciate the response and recommendations!
      Is there a need for a high side port connection or just low side?

    • @Jake-by9ly
      @Jake-by9ly 3 года назад +1

      If you purge a system of air and water (including your charging hoses) you can use a scale to measure the weight of Refrigerant removed from the tank when you open it. Then open the the HIGH SIDE (keeping low side closed) valve of your manifold with the frig compressor OFF. Thst will put maybe half or more of the needed charge into unit quickly as a LIQUID. CLOSE HIGH SIDE valve. Turn on the compressor of your frig. - REMEMBER low side is meant for return Vapor. Since you'd gave to heat the refrigerant to turn it into a vapor and you don't have the expense device for that - you need to SLOWLY, a SMALL amount at a time - as liquid refrigerant (R-134a). Basically open valve for two seconds -it will instantly jump up to about 45 psi. Let it gradually come back down into a vacuum before adding more refrigerant about 1 second at a time (shake can between each fill. You a typical Refrigerator evaporator at about 0 degrees which is about 3 psi. A deep freezer at about 0 psi (atmosphere). If it's just fresh food cooler or soft drink vending machine or de-humidifier, then pressure should be higher so evaporator won't frost uo. You want A/C at about 45°F. MOST low side guages have an R-134a scale which shows the evaporator temperature at a given pressure

    • @Jake-by9ly
      @Jake-by9ly 3 года назад

      @@isayz762 Invest in a 3 hose manifold set 4 hose is better -with guages. Also get a set of 3 ball valves - available at any auto parts store or AMAZON . Those valves are need to prevent air from getting into hoses when yo remove them. Yes, if you don't have a recovery pump - NOT THE SAME AS A VACUUM PUMP - THEN you need the high side guage and valve to evacuate the system with the Refrigerator's compressor. Once at 0 psi, you can use as vacuum pump (yes an old working Refrigerator compressor will work as one if fitted with a schrader valve on the low side with other low side stem pinched off) to bring system into a vacuum

    For how long to do a pressure test for leaks on household fridges?

  • @ericallen3006
    @ericallen3006 3 года назад

    you really should use nitrogen. oxygen is flammable. and when you braze without, like it looks like you did the first braze you made, you now have debris inside your lines from the oxidization, which can cause damage to the compressor later.
