A Refrigeration Tech can do leak test by isolating which side of piping is source of leaks. As long as the leak is not happening on sealed pipe inside the insulated cabinet usually it can be fixed
Is it dangerous to attempt to fix sealed pipe or just not feasible?
I appreciate the video showing how you hunted down the leak. I have a very slow leak on my Engel portable AC/DC fridge. It stop to work after 5 years and I just recharged it with those $8 R143A poke a hole clamp on recharge valve. Evidently slow leak like mine is very common due to production defects judging from the abundance supply of these valve kits. If mine stop to work again I will try to chase down the leak with nitrogen since I now have an access valve.
Due to cost of these appliances, very little time and labor are devote in making of the brazed joints at the factory let alone testing. I am very sure they don't test them at all, but rely on statistical control manufacturing processes.

@DOC FRIDGEE, Hi am having a problem with a chest freezer, its having an internal leak and I can't determine where its coming from I dont want to rip open the silver cover and remove the foam padding inside.. Please help its urgent!!!
Hi Mcgyver Gustavo, it will be challenging to determine where exactly the leaking spot behind the silver cover BUT I have tried a few times before and was able to locate the approximate location of the leak by a nitrogen pressure test around 150-200Psi (you may need to have an access valve welded to your compressor). You need to listen to it carefully and need a quiet moment...
When I did this I can hear an expansion of pressure behind the silver cover & insulation foam. Next, I carefully remove/open a section of that spot and spray with Soap + water to confirm the leak.
I Cleaned the pipe and resolder (oxy weld); try the pressure test again with Nitrogen to confirm no more leak happens, once it was a success I covered the hole with foam spray, evacuate and regas. I hope this will work out for you as well and the leak is easily accessible for repair. Good luck 👍

I thought you are not able to solder when using r600 because it's flammable?
Hi Raul, You can solder R600, M40 or R290 Gas, the unit is already empty of R600 gas due to pipe leak. The line was pressurized using Dry Nitrogen showing leaking joint with simple bubble test. Take extra caution in dealing with Flammable gas especially doing gas welding; ensure system is empty before any weld with good ventilation.

Hi russianhvacguy, In finding gas leak I usually used a regular liquid Diswashing soap, but based on experience Palmolive Liquid soap works better, I guess due to its quality compared to other diswashing liquid soap, I will upload a new video on leak testting. I hope that helps.
I heard the noise a gas sound back in the fridge...is this because of it?
Hi dark soul, The noise could be just a background noise from camera. With the leak confirmed with bubble test, the nitrogen pressure leaking cant be heard. I initially think leak was in the evaporator and not on condenser pipe. Some leaks that are a bit bigger you can actually hear it. Thanks

Why do new fridges leak so soon?
Hi Simon Inga, good question. The leak was due to poor OXY welding done from the Production of Fridge. The Solder did not fully cover the pipe and caused the Refrigerant to leak-out slowly. Once gas level reached critical level the customer noticed fridge is not cold anymore and called Technician to check what was wrong. A good Quality check inspection from Assembly line can help but not sure if manufacturer do this 100%. Have a great day.

The paste used was CA 602 is specifically designed for the brazing of brazing rods containing silver.
It is good to do for silver brazing of steel, nickel, brass, bronze, copper and stainless steels.

Hi huntermark1160, it depends if the leak occurred in a sealed system (pipe inside the cabinet covered by foam insulation) it will be hard to repair, this can be confirmed by pipeline pressure test. Like in a chest freezer, if the pipe inside has a leak its hard to locate and therefore almost not fixable

Привет Кино HD, Утечка не лопнула труба, а вызвана плохим паяльником, сделанным на заводе. Чтобы исправить это, просто нужно правильно очистить трубу и припаять, используя правильный тип флюса и припоя для меди и стали. Спасибо.
