Hey Chris & Elizabeth: My wife and I have done a lot of different types of RV's over the years (VW Eurovan, pop-up tow trailer, 30' 5th wheel, 26' trailerable sailboat (for land and water!), Rav4 with backpacking tent, etc). We love the road less travelled, rarely travel on highways.... we use 80% county roads, forest roads, logging roads, etc. For us, we've realized Smaller Is Better! Thank you guys so so much for this video!! I just got a truck camper and you gave me so many great ideas. I had been on the fence as to whether or not to build out a complicated battery/solar/inverter setup in the camper or to just buy a power station that kind of does it all. You convinced me to do the power station with portable solar and generator when needed. Thanks again. You guys have the most honest and practical videos on RUclips. 👍👍
Good afternoon from Godley Texas, came across your channel while surfing RUclips. Great walkthrough of camper and truck. Subscribed to see future videos on your adventures. Live life to the fullest. Stay safe and happy travels 😎
Great informational video. I did the same thing with my truck and camper keeping the camper from draining the truck batteries by putting a switch in great job on keeping the camper drain ing the truck batteries
I know there is a company that made some by cutting the cab of the truck but they were pricy. Our truck cab window and camper windows both open and we can pass through but it’s not ideal. The newer campers and truck rear windows are too small to fit through though
Excellent and informative video, Chris & Elizabeth!!! I have been impressed with the set-up you chose since you imbibed on this adventure!! Honestly, I have followed you three now for quite a while and have always been impressed with the ingenuity you guys have no matter the circumstance. I've always had older vehicles (with the exception of one 1997 Dodge Truck) and because of the simpler electronics in them, tend to trust them more than new ones. Also, my old brain seems to be stuck in around 2000-2002 and new technology now seems to scare me more than excite me. Looks like you found a lovely place to ditch the Holidaze hustle and bustle but, I know you'll be on the road again to another interesting and fun destination soon. I'm really happy that you had a good Christmas and that Santa was good to you and I hope that 2024 is a year of Amazing, Fun and Hilarious Adventures and I pray for trouble free travels no matter where you roam!! Love to you both and Mona!!,....and just like Santa Claus, I'm always watching!! 👀❤ ,...cue the Foo Fighters "Everlong" as performed by a Bass!
We used to have an old dodge truck like yours pre RUclips with the v-10. Loved the truck but the transmission went out. Turn of the century/ millennium vehicles seem to be a sweet spot of reliability and power. Thank you for the prayers and support!🙏
Nicely done video. I know those darn faucets in the shower break. I still have a spare kit with one in the garage even after I let the trailer go. Good idea on the flexible hose.
This was super informative. I love how you guys are so creative at problem solving and that you managed to make the massive PS5 and nice TV fit so well into that tiny space 😊
Love Northstar! We have the same model and love the simplicity. We are getting older and we have ordered the new Night Hawk model. Can’t wait for delivery. Love your videos.❤
We just looked up the new night hawk. That’s an awesome camper! At some point we would also like to try a hard sided model. Thank you for the support !🙏
@@CandEAdventures Over the decades and decades ago, we had two FourWheelCampers. . Based on our experiences with those soft-siders, plus delivering RecreateVehicles manufacturers-to-dealers and dealers-to-shows, we built our ExpeditionVehicle on a 1996 Ford CF8000 commercial truck. We mounted a standard P&D box -- 7.5' x 12' -- so it is 'hard-side'. To prep the box, I removed the rear roll-up door, then fabricated a steel wall with a steel door. . We pared our exterior set-up to pretty much zero, so we get to camp and everything is pretty much ready to use. Bugging-out is pretty much a matter of kicking the tires and lighting the fires. On two occasions, that came in handy after nearby fires got too close for comfort. . We raise and train Heelers, the herding dogs. They understand a certain tone of my voice if we are in potential danger, so they loaded-up and were in their kennels before the air built to release the brakes. We play a lot, and our emergency load-up is just another game for them. . We come from camping families, plus we traveled with caravans headed by experienced 'Wagon-Masters', so a lot of our skills are merely absorbed by osmosis... hanging out with geezers.
Great Video!!! I think I will steal your shower hose idea. I still have the crappy white one in my 850SC! I do the same thing with the dinette as you guys do. I bought a couple of foldable tables that I use if I have to be inside. they fit perfectly and fit in the under the bed storage when not in use. the two final things I need for my camper is a new outside shower and a replacement affordable 12V compressor fridge. I'll let you know what I find.
The more slinky shower line was kinda pricy at about 30$ but had been an awesome upgrade! We have a new refrigeration system we are currently testing out that we will show in a new video.
Good evening Chris, Elizabeth & double ear rubs Mona ! Love the set ups you have ! You both done a terrific job at hitting all the highlights in it ! Nice location & like you said. If it works why spend money. When it could be used on something more important down the road. Keep up the great work & keep smiling !
Nice video.. very informative and impressive with the build quality of the older vehicles... You guys keep kicking it with your life choices. Be safe out there and enjoy the ride....
24:30 We built our ExpeditionVehicle with zero cabinets above waist-level. We prefer the visual and visceral sense of openness. Your rig is similar. . This eliminates weight aloft, contributing to a stable ride.
Hey guys. Good job on your videos! Rosie and I are up here in Alaska, enjoying your creations. Rosie lived in Guam for quite a while, so it was fun to go back through your old Guam videos. Keep up the good work, and let us know if you ever want to hit Alaska (I'm 3rd generation Alaskan). We'd be happy to discuss it and show you around...and if you are up here at the right time, you can hit the beach with us for our annual dipnetting (it's how we fill the freezer with sockeye salmon every year), or even a moose hunt.
Hi 👋 We go back through our own Guam videos sometimes when we are missing successful fishing and warm weather 😅 We’ve never been up to AK, but would love to when we have the gas money to make the trek! ESPECIALLY for the fishing!!!
@CandEAdventures well. Please do look is up when you decide to come. We are considering the nomad life for ourselves. If I understand correctly, you guys found work. Can you share what you do, and whether or not it is remote work? Also, what are your educatiinal backgrounds? Wondering if there is something different we need to look into, if we want to be succesful on the road.
I also have a truck camper I do the hybrid system also. I use a bluetti AC And a dual fuel Generator. I also have the fritch otherwise known as front hitch. I understand you guys do this full-time but I wouldn't find it enjoyable if I had to drag all that stuff with me. Also a suggestion on the shower setup I also switch to the more flexible stainless hose you may want to put an elbow bracket coming out of the force so the host doesn't stick straight out like that. I bumped into mine and broke it. I put the elbow on it and never had that problem again.
Great info on everything. I hadn't heard the different system for the roof solar. If you haven't yet, led bulbs or a whole new system work great to use less juice...need to do that with a friend's tent trailer we occasionally use. I just saw a pickup at the gas station that had his traction boards with a lock on the end of two of his mounting posts. If yours aren't, you might want to add that or a cable. It's more hassle, but those things are pricey, though that was the first I noticed ones with locks on them.
Thanks for the tourI am a huge DIYer also...👍to all your add-ons and fixes. When you increased the height of tire size Any problems with transmission, gearbox, acceleration, fuel mileage etc....thanks again...stay safe
Thanks for sharing for electrical setup because I was thinking about doing the same thing and several rv techs have been talking me out of it to get solar but as you stated it’s expensive
Great video. You could reach out to people with property to store your stuff if you were exploring a certain region. The 7.3 is a good motor and definitely better than the 6.0. You're doing it right and great job. Happy healthy wife, happy home. Cheers.
I've owned a pop up truck camper sold it years ago, getting ready to get another one looking at this same model or a laradeo any condensation issues with the 850 lots of canvas the one I owned had plenty of ventilation lots of patches holes in the canvas
Northstars are the best campers. I have an 850sc too on a red F350. What are the odds? 😅 Function prioritized over aesthetics and they’re built like tanks to last. That keeps you on your adventures longer.
thank you!! Not sure what you mean by an outdoor shower on suite unless you mean a shower for just the truck. Our truck and camper always stay together :)
@@CandEAdventuresGuys...you answered so many of my questions...THANK YOU Do you have a video on your Diesel heater installation... I also want to remove the factory camper propane heater
@@camposvazquez no sadly we don’t . The diesel heater was already installed when we bought it. Just eyeballing it looks pretty straightforward. The space left by the propane furnace gave a great spot for the diesel, the exhaust even works in the same spot.
@@CandEAdventures thank you for the speedy reply...I am interested in the method to use the factor vents.... I have not seen anyone install a diesel heater that way.... If possible in the future when you have a moment...if you can record the method you used.... Last question... As far as weather.. California vs Florida... Which do you prefer?
@crabbingclammingboatcampin4962 I am a Southern California native....the politics here are so blue it's magenta.... Newsom is going to run for pres.... I fear he'll eventually win... Redwoods is my favorite wild camping spot . May have to visits points north... To possibly transfer there.. Thank you for your reply
It’s the best investment after the leaf springs 😂 The weather can really dictate if it’s an outside day on the e-bikes, motorcycle, or boat to explore where we are and workout…those are typically filming days. Or an inside day is editing and researching for the next video/location. The research takes up most of our time. Finding new places that are unique/interesting, where you can camp, where you can ride e-bikes/motorcycles, learning confusing fishing regulations, etc. There are endless rules/restrictions when it comes to outdoor recreation, so we read forums, scroll websites, and search google maps/OnX for hours.
I just found this channel. You guys are great. I like your set up .I am just waiting if you store your other toys ? You can only use /tow one thing at a time . Do you leave stuff at a storage. Place ? I like you guys so I will start following you now . Thanks
Have you made a video on installing the diesel heater. I have a 2017 Northstar 850SS and in the spring and fall in Wyoming I get a pretty good condensation problem from the gas heater. Thanks and nice straight forward video.
Behind our Honda Ridgeline. When we stay in a general area for a while we only travel in the one vehicle . Then when time to move regions we take the whole convoy.
Not insulated at all. It’s like a convertible top. Awesome when the weathers nice but not the best choice otherwise. In hot weather you have a ton of ventilation with all the windows though and almost 360 views from inside the camper. You get a lot of noise if it’s windy also.
If the wind is fairly constant in one direction the wind noise is negligible. We have had some noisy nights though when the wind speed is gusty and turbulent. Rain is surprisingly much louder than the wind in most cases.
Excellent video! Question? Does the cargo carrier on front cause any issues with driving temps on truck? We have the hitch but are hesitant to add a carrier for concern about temps. Ours is a gas engine. What are your thoughts?
We have had zero issues with cooling with the box in front, or the motorcycle. Ours is a manual so I can’t speak for automatic transmission temps. I think the additional storage is defiantly worth it
13:13 That dribble is by design. The constant flow helps prevent one (or the other) temperature water from over-powering the carefully set comfortable shower. Without a dribble, as you re-start the flow, you would get a burst of the dominant temperature. . And there goes your whole fung schway.
Excellent excellent video … I really enjoyed watching this . Very informative . I’m from North Carolina . Greensboro NC . Me and my wife moved to Venice Florida . Do yall ever go to the Florida keys ?
I think the cup holder is the biggest game changer.

Also a suggestion on the shower setup I also switch to the more flexible stainless hose you may want to put an elbow bracket coming out of the force so the host doesn't stick straight out like that. I bumped into mine and broke it. I put the elbow on it and never had that problem again.
Great tour and thanks for a lot of ideas to steal.
Oh ya, who did the Foo on acoustic, sweet.
Here is the link to the original awesome cover ruclips.net/video/Z5MTmdBwHj8/видео.html
Oh wow! I love those chairs! We have them, but they are about 8 years old and starting to wear out. I want some new ones.
Such an informative and honest video!!
Great looking truck and camper. You guy's are living a great life.
I really like the way you live and the setup.
Thanks for the tourI am a huge DIYer also...👍to all your add-ons and fixes. When you increased the height of tire size Any problems with transmission, gearbox, acceleration, fuel mileage etc....thanks again...stay safe
Yer videos keep getting better and better. 😎🤘🏼☀️☀️. Sweet content
Thank you so
Much!
the camper itself has seen better days but as the lady said, function over form. This setup looks genuine. hope it holds up more years from now.
Thanks for sharing for electrical setup because I was thinking about doing the same thing and several rv techs have been talking me out of it to get solar but as you stated it’s expensive
The Caesar got a great cameo and seems to like his surroundings. No need to fix what ain't broke.
The Caesar has been there through good times and bad! He’s a real one 😂.
Great video!
Love this. Thank you.
Great video. You could reach out to people with property to store your stuff if you were exploring a certain region. The 7.3 is a good motor and definitely better than the 6.0. You're doing it right and great job. Happy healthy wife, happy home. Cheers.
Amazing video
Thx for sharing
Love the tour! Did I miss a part though? You said you don’t use your camper’s toilet. So where do you do your business when camping?
Stay out west...You two belong here!! Timmy C Arizona
We love all the open space !
I've owned a pop up truck camper sold it years ago, getting ready to get another one looking at this same model or a laradeo any condensation issues with the 850 lots of canvas the one I owned had plenty of ventilation lots of patches holes in the canvas
Like your content ,Very informative .looks like something me and my wife can do.
Northstars are the best campers. I have an 850sc too on a red F350. What are the odds? 😅 Function prioritized over aesthetics and they’re built like tanks to last. That keeps you on your adventures longer.
We also value function over aesthetics so it’s a good fit. Ours is a 2006 and seems to be holding up well.
Great video I will start following. Do you guys remote work?
We were doing work camping jobs, now kinda in between employment
@@CandEAdventures the wife and I are retiring in 6-12 months and we are going to work camp and live the life we want instead of work work work.
You might want to put the tire behind the truck by getting a spare tire hitch carrier
You guys are awesome. Great video
The adventure dream.
We are trying to !
Awesome video!! Have you guys consider a outdoor shower on suite. We installed one on our overland f350.
thank you!! Not sure what you mean by an outdoor shower on suite unless you mean a shower for just the truck. Our truck and camper always stay together :)
@@CandEAdventures sorry meant to say a Vehicle Awning Shower Room. It bolts up to the camper, ours is from kickass products.
Ohhhh lol. That awning solution looks awesome. Looks like it’s easier to setup and more space !
You guys are real love it !!!
I could see you two possibly purchasing some raw land in Arizona or out West for future homesteading. While you continue your adventures. 🤔
That’s the dream we have had for a long time! It would be really nice to have a place to drop non essential items off and use as a home base.
@@CandEAdventuresGuys...you answered so many of my questions...THANK YOU
Do you have a video on your Diesel heater installation...
Love the versatility of the cup holder. How do you spend most of your time while parked? Jerry D. in Pa.
Thanks
I admire you both.
Have you made a video on installing the diesel heater. I have a 2017 Northstar 850SS and in the spring and fall in Wyoming I get a pretty good condensation problem from the gas heater. Thanks and nice straight forward video.
Awesome content! How do you carry the boat and the bikes?
Behind our Honda Ridgeline. When we stay in a general area for a while we only travel in the one vehicle . Then when time to move regions we take the whole convoy.
How well insulated is the pop up canvas? Looks thin. Do you get cold/hot leakage? How about noise insualtion?
Not insulated at all. It’s like a convertible top. Awesome when the weathers nice but not the best choice otherwise. In hot weather you have a ton of ventilation with all the windows though and almost 360 views from inside the camper. You get a lot of noise if it’s windy also.
Do you think you could rock an F150 or an F250 a must with this camper?
Kara and Nate could never.... Lolol
How do you move the boat , Scooter & Dual Sport ? Two Vehicles? Thanks.
It’s perfect 👌🏼😎😊
👍❤Happy travels!
We just found your videos and are enjoying them. We have an odd question! My husband and I were wondering what breed your dog is?
Quick question: I've heard many pop-ups experience loud "popping" and "flapping" canvas in high winds. Has this been an issue for you?
If the wind is fairly constant in one direction the wind noise is negligible. We have had some noisy nights though when the wind speed is gusty and turbulent. Rain is surprisingly much louder than the wind in most cases.
How does the pop up do in the wind? I love going to the desert and wind is a big issue. Thanks

That dribble is by design.
Hard to believe a girl so hot is doing this with you, dude. No matter if you have a good income or not. Hats off. Good luck, you all.
Must be all my great haircuts 💇 🤣
@Dale,
Cooking skills!
