- An interview with the Brothers Gibb for a programme made by DAM Productions about their visit to the Island in 2009, to receive the 'Freedom of the Borough' award from Douglas Corporation.
The full documentary features exclusive clips of the brothers at their Miami studio taken by Manx DJ Bernie Quayle (who rediscovered the Gibb's Isle of Man links and began promoting the fact in the '90s), alongwith the full performance of 'Ellan Vannin' from ITV's 'An Audience WIth The Bee Gees'.
It is narrated by fellow Manx songstress Christine Collister and includes the full conferment ceremony from inside Douglas Town Hall - including the brothers' meeting with their childhood hero, Sir Norman Wisdom - exclusive interviews, an exquisite souvenir photo booklet, commemorative postcard and specially commissioned footage of Douglas and the Isle of Man with narration by Christine Collister.

@@ellenstewart1773 I'm not sure that person is jealous so much so as they are speaking facts. They did not seem to have strong family relationships. Barry stated himself in an interview that all three brothers passed at a time where they were on bad terms. Nonetheless, it is very saddening. May they rest in peace, hopefully Barry has gained strength and comfort over the years.

No you are not wrong. Aust TV did a 20 min interview with him a few years back, reflecting on the deaths of Robin & Maurice.
At one point he started crying so the interview was halted. I am pleased to see that he is back performing. I bought his new LP recorded with a number of great performers. Well worth getting. Cheers

I saw that video interview too. He broke down after watching a video of them goofing around as little children. Remember him sayin' " Every brother I lost was in a mode when I was not getting on. I have to live with that, I will reflect on that. I' m the last man standing,---and I' ll never understand that, with being the oldest. Can' t,--- just have to keep on..." 😢😢
I do feel that doing his show in 2013 in Chicago and the show in Philadelphia in 2014 has helped him with some healing. He honored his brothers. The video' s were heartwarming.

The Bee Gees feared they could never compete w/The "Beetles", they felt they were their main competition. But the Bee Gees writing was far more superior, and they lasted as a group several decades longer than the Beetles. When they had arrived in England, from the long boat ride from Australia, it wasn' t until then they learned that they had a hit in Australia, it made it to
"#1" there. People in England told them go back to Australia, (that was yet another group/perhaps fearing the competition). They said the time of British groups is past, the fad has passed. But the Gibb brothers didn' t
give up on their dream/ thank God, for the benefit of all of us. From what I can gather, this time they lived in MANCHESTER, England. Not very far at all from Liverpool, (home of the Beatles). But the Beatles had made their home in the U.S. @ the time. And eventually they not only met the Beatles they became friends. Paul & Barry were both honored by the Queen & given the title of "Sir" Paul, and "Sir" Barry!! At one time they were great competitive songwriters, but came to have great "respect" for each other because of their recognized talent.

I live on island and when robin died it was lovely to see the manx flag draped over the back of his coffin. He did a concert at the villa for a local children's charity on the island not long before he died must have been one of the last he did it was fantastic. They are very special to the island and are very highly thought of here

I live very very far from the West and its music. But when I was carelessly tuning our transistor radio for a local music this peculiar band with their unique voice caught my fancy. It was 1979. The song was "Too much heaven." The starting music was a special thing for me which was why I kept listening. And then I was introduced to this uniquely sounding band called The Beegees.

Barry always wanted to be the focus every time they were interviewed. Robin always did a good job of jumping in and putting in his 2 cents. He had a great sense of humor and was very intelligent.
