- Robin and Barry Gibb attend a ceremony at Douglas Town Hall, Isle of Man where they are to be made freemen of the borough of Douglas. Sir Norman Wisdom also made an appearance.

The song the children sing is called Roll Away,written by fellow islander Davy Knowles and released by his band Back Door Slam.
Last week I went to this beautiful island,to their home town of Douglas,took a short walk to 50 St Catherine’s Drive their childhood home,and also saw the lovely statue of them walking back to the town from the sea depicted as they were in the Stayin Alive video.
Have listened to their music non stop ever since,they seemed such kind and humble people as well as wonderful song writers and performers,what talented people we have to thank Mr and Mrs Gibb for,Barry,Robin,Maurice and not forgetting Andy.
Loved it there - and I’ll return to the island someday x

How enchanting! What a proud moment for Sir Barry and Sir Robin Gibb. I love the way Robin introduced their 'mum' to the crowd. Fitting tribute to the most famous and honourable sons of Isle of Man. I always get emotional when I watch the brothers. Wishing you a healthy long life to Barry and eternal peace for lovely Maurice, Robin and Andy. ❤

Robin was nominated as was Barry but had the audacity to die a terrible, painful death before it was awarded. It can't be awarded posthumously. Maurice died years before but his CBE was received by Adam. At least Mo knew he was getting the honour before he died. Had Barry died before knighthood was awarded he wouldn't be a "sir" either. To me they ALL deserved to be SIRS. Jimmy Saville, the paedophile who introduced Barry to Linda, was a "sir" too. Knighthood is a BRITISH award. Robin spent most of his life in the UK. He did a lot of philanthropy dedicated TO and FOR BRITISH causes - President of the British Heritage Society, President of the Composers' Union, sponsor of Outreach for underprivileged children, sponsor of his local air cadet corps, spoke in Parliament on behalf of veterans, driving force for the Bomber Command Memorial beside Buckingham Palace dedicated to WW2 pilots, mentored young British singers and composers like Alistair Griffin (did an LP of songs from unknown composers) and other endeavours. I repeat a BRITISH honour. He deserved it too and so did Mo. When you throw "sir" at their fans as if they were somehow less deserving, that is an insult.
@@susieq9801Then perhaps their cousin (who nominated them) should have done so before Robin was very sick. My understanding is it wasn't done before then.
@@susieq9801 So well said Susie, I wanted to say the same. Robin actually deserved to be a Sir, for all that you outline. He believed in Britain and lived here for a long time, whereas Barry was only a visitor. Robin was active in the history of Britain, for many, many years before he tragically died. He was a shining star, and without him, the world is greyer.

Robin always stayed true to his roots.
Considering Robin lived in the US for many years & owned 2 homes there, I'd say they all stayed true to their roots. After all, Barry & Mo also had homes on the Isle of Man & in the UK.
@@kthor Robin never considered the states his home. When he wasn’t working he lived in England. Robin was in England much more than he was in the states. He also purchased a home on Peel, IOM.
@@kl3620 He owned a home in Miami Beach & Lloyd Harbor, & they didn't necessarily sit empty! In fact, the one in Miami Beach, Dwina & her "girlfriends" helped decorate to their liking & that's where they lived when RJ was born in '83.

What moment for this childrens! So close to these stars...
I've been watching all the videos of the BeeGees and their life, their story. This is the only one that made me cry. Mo definitely deserved to be there with them! I loved Mo. He was often not filmed as much, but he could always make me laugh when Barry and Robin were in the spotlight! What fine and humble gentlemen!!!❤❤❤❤❤

Robin looked very moved by the children singing, and was totally involved in their efforts. Barry looked like he wished they would hurry up and finish. Two brothers, but very different from each other. No wonder Robin missed Mo so much, and no wonder Barry wasn't on good terms with either of them when they died. It was always the big 'I am' with Barry.
That darn Barry just so uninterested and all and just a horrible person being all on bad terms with his brothers and such and having a god complex as well. And that angel Robin so very moved and all.
