A Day At Sarangkot, Pokhara | Sunrise and Sunset View Points
On day 4, we headed to Sarangkot from Pokhara. Instead of taking the usual cable cars up the mountain, we decided to relax at the hotel with a view and talk to the locals.
Sarangkot holds renown in this locality for its breathtaking vistas of the Annapurna range, especially during sunrise. Numerous visitors flock here for brief excursions from Pokhara, utilizing either taxi services or the convenient cable car. Moreover, this hillside locale is equally renowned, if not more, for its thriving paragliding scene, evident from the city as enthusiasts gracefully soar above the lake.
We decided to skip on paragliding as we had kids and parents with us who weren’t too comfortable with adventure besides it being not safe for them.
After a few tiring days in Kathmandu, we moved to our next destination - Sarangkot.
We had a Yeti flight to Pokhara which was delayed by approximately 2 hours - this is very important - know that local flights are almost always delayed. Don’t be dependent on them to make your plans.
We booked the flights from the official website of Yeti for approximately 2600 per person.
And from Pokhara airport we found these 2 cabs for a total of 3000 to our stay at Sarangkot.
Aapka toh nahi pata but I cannot wake up in the middle of the night, travel for 25 kms and sit near a watch tower.
So I took the next alternative and booked a hotel with the best views.
This is our room - We stayed at the Himalayan front which is a semi luxurious property with great views. The rooms are romantic, and wherever you are in his property, it has mesmerising views.
We went in April which isn’t the best season to go to pokhara and we missed on the clear skies and the views of mt fishtail and the entire Annapurna range to die for.
And even then the views will steal your heart.
Whether it is their restaurant, rooms, or the earth lounge at the top
After a dip in the cold waters and it was really cold, we decided to eat near the pool. However, we were greeted by winds, and had to move inside
After eating, I got my eyes on their massage menu and made sure our moms were relaxed. We also decided to get a foot massage done which made us feel energetic to walk and explore.
We saw the most beautiful sunset from right outside our rooms (yes that’s the watch tower you will go to in sarangkot) and then amit and I went out to explore the nearby area
And came across this small tapri and this dog - junnnu where had chatted with a father and her daughter for hours, drank a local wine called kudu and ate way wai
Next day we wok up early to see the sunrise. Just imagine how breathtaking this would be in a clear day.
And yet, a day at this place was enough to relax and rejuvenate to keep exploring.
We promised to meet the father and daughter again (I am not naming them because they weren’t comfortable being on camera)
And in the morning, while we waited for our car to pokhara, we went there to meet them once again and play with the dog.
While the property, sunset and sunrise were great, the highlight was to meet them bechance in the dark, start talking to them and spending a few hours knowing about their lives here.
It is definitely experiences like these which make travel worth it. It is not the country, the monuments, the nature - it is the people who you meet that make memories.
I will always remember them because I had a great time with them.
