Okay, first thoughts of the video:
Descendants 3 should’ve been the point where Disney said “okay, let’s move on” because at that point, Dove was already off doing her musical thing and, unfortunately, Cameron Boyce died. And because Descendants 3 just felt like a very natural conclusion, the Royal Wedding special just felt very out of place. (Same with the “Genie in a Bottle” and “Stronger” music videos. What purpose did they serve?)
Fr like the Genie one especially made me think Jordan was gonna appear in that movie but nope.

Melissa tried to at least make the various kids of same character work.....but despite Escape saying Freddie is Celia's older sister.....they just ignore Hades actual son cause....guess only Mal can be a child of Hades.....like Disney be weird with these books, given we never see these books be acknowledged so like

I feel like the books in this case were kind of like The Clone Wars: patching up all the weirdness in the movies and giving them more meaning. But then the movies just up and ignored the books and they were back to square 1.

We can all agree on is the fact the franchise as a whole is the result of very poor planing. The thing that causes raised eyebrows for me is the fact that a sentient mouse and crew are confirmed to be a part of this freak show of a universe. Overall, I do not view this as cannon to Disney as a whole.

Descendants 1 and Descendants 2 are my favorite from the Descendants franchise. D3 was poorly written, rushed, and VERY Mal-centric. Like... what about everyone else? D3 could've been a 2 hour film or maybe even 3 if they slowed down and got better writers. And in my opinion, D3's overall Audrey plot would've been so much better for D2 had Sarah been free. Ending D3 on the Uma storyline I THINK, would've been better because literally, all she wanted, was to be free and off the isle and imagine her going from angry, pissed, jealous, etc. because she sees her cousin living her dream, to ending the film with her watching the barrier come down and having her moment of freedom would've been so much better timeline wise, because, yes, the timeline for Descendants IS all over the place. Anyway. I love Descendants and I hope they do better with the continuation of this film series, or, they're going to lose their cash cow.
Ooo and then blonde Audrey/reformed Audrey can be one of the main characters in D3!
im literally rewatching descendants right now like when i got the notification lmao, and yeah ive been thinking about it so much and it’s really the messed up timelines and different canons that annoy me the most like t second book is so good but it literally has no impact on anything, like they go through a whole adventure, find out that there are kids that want to follow their lead, but in the second movie none of that has any impact??? If you want a satisfying story you have to pick and choose and invent your own timeline lmao

I never finished this movie series because I watched the first one with my boyfriend and we both hated it.
I never cared much for Descendants as a franchise because I don't like much of Kenny Ortega's music (key word: much of; I typically like one song from each of his films). However, I keep up with the series somewhat so I do admit that China Anne McClain's character Uma deserved better (she and Harry should have wound up together) and what happened to Cameron Boyce (who shined as Carlos) was tragic.
Anyway, it doesn't surprise me that Disney treated Descendants this way. They had been looking for another original movie series to turn into a cash cow ever since the High School musical series ended and they found that with Descendants.
I did like the first one but stopped at that especially when Cameron died :/ Just started watching your videos and I love it :)
I watched the first one when it came out and the second one when it came out too and then I started going itno the fandom when Boyce died. can't believe in 4 months its been 3 years since he died :(

And I forgot why I didn’t watch after the first i think it reminded me of how Disney (example Camp rock) where it started out really good then the sequel doesn’t work well so I didn’t want to take that chance. Not all but most Disney movies don’t do as good as the first movie

And Wicked World did have comic books, but it was just the whole tv series on paper. Nothing new. And I've seen some comic books of the first two Isle books. On top of that they had the Descendants magazines with the activities and character introductions!
And I'm one of those grown ass adults, and Disney made a lot of money off of me! You're right about everything, but I still love it!
If they're gonna be making two more, they should focus on Dizzy and Celia! Especially Celia 'cause Jadah needs a job after the canceling of Julie and the Phantoms. Also, I know Freddie is Celia's sister, but I could've sworn Freddie had mentioned having a sister (not Celia), in Wicked World. Am I mistaken?

Zombies is trying too hard to be the next "Descendants" and I don't care for it and tbh: Descendants is the best but I hated Chad, Ben was basic & I think the Descendants series should've concluded with the 3rd.
From this video, I just find myself calling Descendants the ideal effect Disney kinda wanted with the Tinker Bell movies.
