The ABC Sunday Night Movie theme is just so iconic. I can't get enough of it.
Starscreamlive I have the early 80’s CBS movie theme as my ringtone.
@@chrislang9442 that is awesome!
Yeah the big 3 had very distinct themes over the years.
That yopliat commercial is hilarious. What I love about 80s commercials are the original songs they create for their respective products. Someone actually wrote the songs and then recorded it in a studio.
That’s not a jingle, that’s a famous German torch song. “Falling In Love Again”-made famous by Marlene Dietrich. It was her signature number!
Also, I think the narrator is Kate Mulgrew. Am I the only one hearing that?
It might not be true of "Falling In Love Again," but I know just what you mean about using composers.
Mrs. Unsociable thanks! Didn’t know that
Man, those Sunday Night Move promos really took me back. Shook me, actually, since that's a time and place and feeling I'll never experience again except as nostalgia. Weird feeling.
Burgess Meredith's voice is epic and perfect in those Honda ads - he can a voice over for any product and probably one of the best
I miss this era even though I was a kid I still remember all the commercials and promo's like it was yesterday brings back so many memories
When you feel so much nostalgia your heart hurts...
Scifi FantasyGirl
Thank you you put that just perfectly
If there was one word I've never wanted applied to a yogurt, it's "chewy"...
I highly recommend my chewy yogurt.
So many gems in every upload! The Pepsi commercial with the alien was almost gone from my memory until seeing it now. That was a good one. Just watched the same episode of Three's Company when all that money flies out the ATM. I had Romancing The Stone on Beta Max...I would watch that often. One of my fav movies.
I want my 80's back!
80s where America's last great decade.
OMG!!! March 25th, 1984, 10:12 AM, I was born!!!! :D
So many iconic phrases came from 70s and 80s commercials . Where's the beef ? Time to make the donuts ☺👍
The most interesting ads to me are always the ones for failed sitcoms that only lasted 3 or 4 episodes.
Dan McCarthy yes, unfortunately. So forgotten about until we see these videos...
Romancing the Stone was a fun movie that was the first big hit for Robert Zemeckis who would go on to make Back to the Future the following year. The movie was written by a waitress who wanted to break into movies. Sadly, she died in an accident not long after the movie came out, so she never got to enjoy her success.
Even weirder, it was in a Porsche that Michael Douglas bought for her.
I remember "Romancing the Stone" playing in theaters many months later, advertised as "held over" in the newspaper ads.
Thanks! Lots of memories with the Chicago area ads.
God Damn do I miss these days.......
Boy, the dialogue for that Pablo commercial.
The show had a primarily Hispanic cast and was told from their perspective. The show actually explored the issues of stereotypical humor, the main character was a comedian berated by his family to stop stereotyping them in his act: ruclips.net/video/59WOss8fXIo/видео.html
17:10 imagine being the one that had to wear the leotard that just says "fat" on it and being seen around the studio between changing and filming.
Calm down; unlike you, I think it likely she handled it.
The ham was absolutely worth the wait!
3. Not paying attention? Get a flour powder slap!
15. Wear these pants. You will surely become rugged!
31. Third invention has potential. With a few modifications of course!
When I saw peas I thought "Wait, wasn't this a Burger King commercial?" Burger King Salad Bar!!!
"You so much as twitch, you've seen your last taco." Ah, simpler times. 😂
Burger King Salad bar looked tempting..
3:37 - Dick Johnson... I thought it was SNL for a minute!
Dick Johnson? Seems redundant. lol
- Why was Shelly Long doing local commercials during her second season at Cheers?
- 9:08 Don’t hurt me!
- 9:48 Sheesh, Burger King, why don’t you give me 3-D glasses?!?
- 14:00 Really? A Pepsi Challenge a la Beer?
She started out doing commercials in the Chicago area and seems to have had some sort of business relationship or contract with this particular store. I posted an ad for them that also featured her previously in Vol. 353: ruclips.net/video/72cBWIDiLls/видео.htmlm46s which seemed to have been made several years before Cheers.
I believe that's David Pack (lead singer of Ambrosia) singing the Lowenbrau jingle.
I was only four months old when these commercials aired. Now I'm 35 turning 36 in a few months. Oh how time flies!
I'm almost exactly the same age. You're right on time flying. How do we slow it down?!!
Braveheart Q if only we could! I remember so much of my childhood as though it was just yesterday. Crazy to think how fast it all went by. As a kid, adults used to tell me not to blink because before I knew it I’d be older wishing for my childhood to be back. I didn’t believe them when they’d say it, but they were so right.
I was 17yrs old then. Now I'm 53.
After 20 time just blew by. 😕
Shoot, I want that acutrim 👀
Dexatrim was better,😁
Time to make the donuts
3:14 - Dick Johnson.... lol
Middle name, Harry. Lol
Nissian was good , reliable well-built cars back then . now they're nothing but junk .
Dick Johnson? Unfortunate name!!!
But Mike Adamle would later be on American Gladiators!
Dick Johnson is on NBC 5 Chicago currently.....great name for a newsman. lol.
@@shiznicks74 He was sooo young here!!
I miss salad bars
4:33 - Something about this woman makes me think robot or Stepford Wife. I think it's that unblinking stare she gives the camera.
Ken Nordine did the voiceover on the Levi's Action Suit spot.
Burgess Meredith is a beast
Yes indeed, you are right, the Wilson Ham commercial was very “ yuppie “ as they used to say . Target demographic? Lol !
Had to watch it again...
13:16Is that Peter Bergman from “Young and Restless”? Also known as “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV”?
Yep! That's him.
BK had pasta salad? holy crap man thank god that did not last forever.
Salad Bars were a thing in the 80s from what I have heard but started dying as trends changed.
KHWendy28 ugh my dad loved that whole nutty BK salad bar 😂 I couldn’t stand the smell of that three bean salad!!!!
Alien was TV on in 1984? Cool but edited like heck.
It’s really not edited much at all besides some profanity and a few brief shots. Most of the violence in the movie is implied and off-screen.
And my mom & dad were college students.
17:07 girl looks familiar.
Kathleen Turner Was so freakin hot back then!
Mr. Dalton absolutely! No idea how she fell off so hard
ALIEN
Even on national TV, NOBODY can hear ya scream
Who is the actor in the Wrangler's commercial?? Dang, he was fine (back then).
Why did those aliens steal a vending machine? They don't have alien coins?
I don't think I've never seen this Joe Sedelmaier commercial @12:22
Was the volcano Mt. Saint Helens?
No. The volcano mentioned in the news story here was Mauna Loa on Hawaii, which erupted from March 24th to April 15th, 1984. Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980.
Oh man Dick Johnson on the news.
Funny how early 80s cars looked like garbage even when they were new.
I was thinking the same thing. That Accord didn't even have a side view mirror on the passenger door lol. I wonder if in 36 years from now we'll see things from 2019 and think they look old and strange?
@@jeremiahallyn4603 Not sure, there are a ton of cars from the 50s and 60s that are still beautiful today. My dad had a 69 Lincoln Continental Mark III, gorgeous car.
