It reminds me of the story of Sergei Krikalev, the last Soviet cosmonaut and the last citizen of the Soviet Union, who was in space when the USSR fell on December 25, 1991 and stayed there alone in space until March 25, 1992. The original version of this song sounds loud, optimist and hopeful. This version sound a lot more quiet and distant, the feeling of hope is gone. Sadly it's a fitting parallel to the illegal dissolution of the USSR and the end of all the hope and dreams that once existed in the world. This song sounds like something you would hear in a dream. The dream is still there, slowly fading away.
A better future that never came. To me personally, this song echoes feelings of anxiousness and anxiety, just like the song says, of 14 minutes till your take-off to space, an uncertain place with an even more uncertain fate. Will you safely return? Or will you not? But you do know, that your life and choices lead you to here, and you know that you will put a record into a book somewhere, which will echo your and your Motherland's achievements till the rest of humanity. And the only way to suppress such feelings, is to take a small cigarette break, together with your comrade cosmonauts, and to recite them this song, just without music as a small morale booster filled with hope and mass optimism about the future... just as your navigator goes over your rocket's route for one last time, and your rocket is finalized for take-off.

Eduard Khil singing i think...
fallout vibe
I hate communism with every fiber of my being, but I think anyone who wishes for a brighter future can gather around this song regardless of political affiliation.
Well, except primitivists, I guess.
America ruined the progress.
We must prioritize knowledge over capital!
What nonsense! Now this is not relevant at all. Yes, 1917 opened the way to the stars, but 1991 closed this way.
No one needed to go to the moon it was too expansive
And with china, the last major socialist power, receding into state capitalism, will we ever settle the stars?
