    The 3080 was 700 USD. Add around 18% for inflation, and that would be about 825 USD, and that would be an excellent product. Against AMD's current pricing, 900 would still be very competitive. Even 1000 would be somewhat competitive against the 7900 XTX. At around 1100 or more, you're paying a big premium for DLSS and better ray tracing performance, but WORSE Vram capacity and WORSE standard raster performance.

    • @person1745
      @person1745 9 месяцев назад +5

      I do think that a 4080 at $1100 compared to a 7900 XTX at $1000 still makes sense for the Nvidia features and lower power draw, anymore and it’s just not worth it. VRAM really isn’t a huge deal when it’s at 16GB, especially when 4K upscaling is almost identical to native in IQ.
      That said, if Nvidia and AMD weren’t selling GPUs for 3x the MSRP in the last few years, the 4080 would have came out for around $850, while the 7900 XTX have to be around $750.

    16GB is plenty. It’s only recently become that 8GB is no longer enough in certain games for 1440p or 4k settings. Baldur’s Gate and Starfield are titles I’ve been playing and they don’t even hit 8GB at 1440p ultra settings. Also we’re not going to see a new console generation until 2028 so we have to keep in mind that most of the games coming out still have to run on the PS5 and XSX.

    Im about to get a whole brand new setup after 6 years with my 1080 and i7-6800k and i have not been keeping up to date until a few weeks ago regarding hardware so lots of fun reseach has been done, you guys have been very helpful!
    Im going for the 4080 or the 4070-Ti paired with either a i5-13600k or a i7-13700k for a setup with one 4k monitor and a 1080p ultrawide aswell. The setup will be used for gaming, streaming and alot of video editing in 1440p. A few questions for anyone willing to give thier opinions:
    1. What combo of GPU & CPU would you recommend? I think the i5 will be fine for a 4080 given my 4k setup. Or do i still need to get the i7 to prevent any bottleneck?
    2. Ive seen some benchmarks showing the i5 having better 1% lows than the i7 in games like CSGO. What is this about?
    3. Im looking to give the CPU a medium overclock and i have never overclocked before. How much do you think i can crank it up without even needing to test for stability?
    4. The i7 draws alot more power at maximum. Does this mean less room to overclock than the i5? And about the whole cpu bending issue, how much of a problem is this really? Going for a z790 MBO and an AIO watercooler if that makes any difference :p

      I'm no expert but pretty sure the i7 and 4080 will be great together. I have a i7 11700k and I just ordered a new gigabyte rtx 4080 gaming oc gpu to go with it, and I'm thinking about waiting until the next gen i7 comes out before I upgrade cpu again but there's nothing wrong with 13700 cpu.

    • @calvin659
      @calvin659 9 месяцев назад

      1. If you only upgrade every 6 years and want to game at 4K then splurge on the 4090, especially if you game or plan to game at 120/144hz+. The 13600k will be fine for gaming.
      2. Those are old numbers that have most likely been resolved through microdcode updates.
      3. The 13700k and 13600k are not worth overclocking. Both of them are already cranked out of the box and you'll only gain low single-digit improvements. The 13700k is also way too hot to OC so if you're thinking of OCing a few years down the road to get any meaningful performance - don't.
      Get the $7 Thermalright contact frame and a GPU support/riser instead of ever having to find out.

      The 7800 XT is about 43% faster than the 6700 XT, with 33% more vram, a newer architecture, and also typically better quality coolers than many models of the 6700 XT. The difference in price over the 6700 XT honestly isn't actually that much higher considering that big improvement in performance, vram capacity, and features. If you actually care about streaming as well, then the 7800 XT is even better, because it has a better encoder than all of the 6000 series cards as well.
      It is a very good 1440p card, but it can definitely run a lot of games even at 4k, sometimes even with no upscaling at all (but using upscaling at 4k is probably usually going to be worth it, especially if you use the highest FSR quality setting).

      @guilhermeodai 9 месяцев назад

      Since you will be doing streaming, I'd go with either 7700 XT or the 7800 XT because of the AV1 encoder. And if you can find a 7800 XT that fits your budget, that would be my choice, it's gonna serve you longer with the extra VRAM and raw power

    • @VaginaDestroyer69
      @VaginaDestroyer69 9 месяцев назад

      I have the 7800 XT and it has been outstanding. Day 1 drivers were relatively painless with a single occurrence of a green system crash that was resolved easily with a restart and likely had more to do with how shit Starfield's performance has been. Every game I've thrown at it has either held a consistent 60FPS or pushed upwards of 200+ frames depending on the game. I've streamed a few times and the AV1 encoding makes a notable improvement over my old card. Not to mention you'll have 16GB VRAM so you won't have to worry about the card's longevity. I have nothing but praise for this and I'd say that aside from the now heavily discounted and steadily dropping price of the 7900 XT, the 7800 XT is the best value card for this generation and for anyone looking to upgrade from a 20 series or 5000 series card.
      I've got an ITX system and I bought the Sapphire Pulse model. It's had great temps, undervolting/overclocking is easy to do in AMD's Adrenalin software, and I can hardly hear it even when the fans kick in. If you've got a larger system, then the models I'd recommend are the PowerColor Hellhound, Sapphire Nitro+, and XFX Speedster MERC319. They've got great coolers and the designs look beautiful in any case. The 7800 XT should also pair well with your 5800X. I've got an i5-12600K myself and it's been great, no bottlenecks.
      Good luck, friend!

    • @GregoryShtevensh
      @GregoryShtevensh 9 месяцев назад

      The 4080 actually has better price to performance according to Roman Debaur or whatever his name is. And Google's 1st source states that it's more like 75% more raster, depending on the game.
      The 4070 also has less VRAM again and a more cut down BUS.
      The 4080 put out 25% more performance than a 3090ti and beats the 7900xtx in about 45% of games.
      It runs rings all over the 4070, which is basically just a 3080 again with less power consumption

    I can confidentially say that rtx 4080 is a terrible value product despite having 16g of vram. Why? Because even if the 12gig vram in the 4070 isn't gonna be enough after like 2-3 years for most gamers, after that point just buy something like 6070 or anything else from AMD with the leftover 600 dollars + the interest you get from whatever investment you make of it + the money you make back by selling your current 4070. And I can guarantee you the 6070 or AMD equivalent deal will outperform 4080 in every single way you can possibly imagine. Futureproofing does not make sense if you're paying significantly more amount of money.

    The 4070 normal sells for around $800 -/+ $50 so the 4080 is about 25% better so $1000 -/+ $50 but I do feel that most GPU are over priced by around 25% so by my maths 4070 worth around $600 and the 4080 around $800 but that not going to happen dream on but price have gone up as seen that they charge the extra and people will get pay it.
    Therefore the price of GPU has gone up and I do think will go up a lot more we all know there is big buck to made with AI hardware.
    So the question I be asking my self can I make do with my current GPU (and for me that was NO so I have upgrade to 7900xtx and by do so I making the bet with self that it will last me around 5 years like old my RX580 8gb did)
    But we are getting to point that soon the next generation of GPU will be comming once they out it in past been normal for the older generation hardware price drop (I pay £220 for an 5800x3d which classic example of this) but this is a GAMBLE given that is only so much silcon production and how much of this top end silcon is going to be used for AI and once AI has eat up all of best Silcon and given the fact that top end Nvidia GPU do AI work och that will effect the top of market so the price of older generation of GPU will be effect by this

    Nvidias scummy behavior has presented a major opportunity to AMD if they have the intelligence to take it. The 4080 only has a 256-bit bus and only 16gb of vram. That card is at best a 70-class based on its specs and performance. Its not worth 1000+$. The BIGGEST factor in a GPU's performance is Memory Bandwidth. That trumpes EVERYTHING else. So as long as AMD offers a bigger memory bus and more VRAM at each price-point they will have the superior GPU that the competing nvidia card can never touch. That performance and longer lifespan will make the AMD card the obvious choice. DLSS gives you worse visual quality for a higher frame-rate and nvidia dares to sell this trash to you as a "feature" The obvious counter-response from AMD is to give more bandwidth for more framerate at a NATIVE resolution without shitty up-scaling to give the consumer and uncompromising gaming experience.Why buy a dogshit 4070ti which needs to use DLSS at 4K when you can buy a 320-bit 7900XT which runs 4K natively with a solid 60+fps on max settings?
