I am currently in iceland Its nice to know that we weren’t the only ones who had our camper break down. The vans seem to get pretty roughed up with not a lot of maintenance between rentals. I would not recommend renting a large van either. Narrow roads and high winds, you want a small vehicle if you’d like to keep your nerves.
Ac w I believe alot of the campsites close at the end of September. You may want to research which ones are still open. As far as the weather, the van we had definitely kept us warm and out of the wind. It was about 40 degrees when we went. The heaters inside the vans will keep it really warm, though i don’t recommend sleeping with the heater running. If you do rent a camper van, make sure the heater and food cooler work. We also brought our own low temp rated sleeping bags, which i highly recommended doing too. If i were to do it again id skip the camper-van and get a small car and stay at Guest Houses. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions. Id be happy to try to answer. :)
Also quick note. We drove north west up to Dynjandi waterfall on route 60. Be careful of dirt roads especially when it rains. They turn to mush. We ended up sinking into the side of the road and almost tipping over. Had to get the camper van winched out resulting in a $800 fee. Boo
Well done getting to the American plane crash, it's not exactly next to the carpark :) I was massively underwhelmed when I got there. Although, I do need the exercise I was glad of the steps haha :)
For about 9 hours of it we slept. We stayed right in the van all night. The rest of the time we hiked to the waterfall in the rain and got some dinner, but there wasn't anywhere else to go so we stayed close by. My wife and I recently made the trip again, this time without breaking down anywhere, and it was an incredible trip.
Sorry about the breakdown but shit happens to the best of us. You don’t mention much about the visit. How are the people, the roads, nights in the van; cold, ok, bring a 30 degree sleeping bag? How expensive was the food you carried along? Is all this outside the scope of what you were trying to convey?0

Danielle Chrysogelos I’m gonna go to Iceland in end of October. Is a camper van enough in this season? I mean the weather and all that.

Thx for the great vid. I like this one because it shows some of the cons, which most don't. Been once and want to go back to do the ring road. Cheers~
Jajaja This video isn't the best promotional advertisment of happy camper van but the music is amazing
I'd say 2 dudes can definitely get by with a smaller vehicle. A van that big more appropriate for a small family (3-4).
What time of year did you visit Iceland?? Thanks for the vid!! That’s a bummer the campervan gave out :/

Curious what did you do for this 18 hours and where did you stay?

We will also rent a Camper Van in Mai 2022....
No Happy Campervan for me then.
