    I’m new to this but have been saying out loud a lot, “my symptoms are not physical they’re caused by my brain perceiving danger but you know what brain, I’m actually fine. I’m safe.” I say it when I’m walking my dog. I say “walking up stairs (or whatever) is not dangerous brain” then I laugh at how silly my brain is. Not condemning myself but just trying to to laugh like oh you’re silly. Same with sitting on the couch or whatever my brain has perceived as dangerous. It is a process but I’m determined. Thank you Dan. You the man.

    This concept is what keeps me stuck. I realize I am hyper vigilant towards the pain, continually aware of it to the point of creating pain. I wake up pain free and cycle through the process like clock work. I pray I'm able to change my thinking that I can regain my life again. This video was helpful!

    Amazing how we program our brains negatively without realising. Trying to just keep flipping it if it gets through security. Today getting out, arm pain sigh anyway got out, pain gone. Bit of shopping. Out half hour IBS symptoms, go with it but the overthinking trying to take over. 3/4 hour on, I'm still sat in car, there's been tears whilst I wait for your post. Symptoms dropped a bit so manageable. Am very aware, still reassuring myself. Will go indoors get warm, eat something and get back out. Thank you.

    Dan, the pelvic pain came on a day before, and I know it was because a thought floated in my mind two days ago thanking God, I don’t see it anymore. And here it was, served to me on a platter. Though I am aware what caused this to arrive, I am sure as hell that with my composure and calm reassurance, it’s not going to stay for long. Always grateful for you and your words, xoxoxo Shveta

    Am loving the membership side of Pain Free You Dan! I just joined this week and started the videos tonight - they are FANTASTIC! After doing therapy with my doctor for TMS (with sporadic success), your program is EXACTLY what I needed. I was too focused on the digging to find the ‘fix’. And the acronym ’TMS’ never felt right - it’s another label for a ‘diagnosis’. PDP actually describes the symptoms! Simple yet profound! I’m so hopeful for the first time in over 10 years that I can get better! 💥🥳🎉💪🏻🕺🏼🙏🏻

    Watching this reminded me I KNOW it’s TMS. I just needed to remind myself again about the amplification of symptoms from the hyper vigilant brain. I had moved close to 6 cubic metres of mulch a couple of days ago and It floored me. I actually thought I had covid I was feeling so bad. But I know I’m strong. I used to work harder than that on a daily basis. I’m 62 but I don’t believe the body just gets old. I was starting to doubt again…. SO thanks again Dan. I’m going through the vids I haven’t been watching as I had been symptom free after seeing my kids interstate. I had ZERO symptoms for five days while in Melbourne. ZERO symptoms until the case numbers of omicron starting going through the roof When I got back home and the youngest in Melbourne caught covid. I needed a refresher reminder on the fear factor. The symptoms have a,ready subsided since watching three. THANKS for your consistency Dan. Nice to come back for some reassurance ⭐️👍❤️

    Thanks Dan, I really needed this message. Also thanks to the people who asked this question, it was going to be my next one during the group coaching! I've realised that when I cured my back pain over 10 years ago by reading Sarno's books, the real threat to my financial and emotional wellbeing was being removed. I just needed to know about tms and why I was experiencing the pain. So I've just got to work on convincing my subconscious that I haven't messed up my recovery from foot surgery, and to not be drawn into feeling surprise when I can put my feet up and I don't feel pain, as invariably this brings it on, and practise positive visualisation more frequently, especially before walking in normal shoes. I do try talking to my brain saying how protective and comfortable normal (ie enclosed) shoes are, but my subconscious isn't convinced yet. Any sort of pressure on my feet is interpreted as a threat, therefore I'm going back to the assessments to do them again. I've conquered tms before, and I know I can do it again, as your perceived danger pain explanation makes so much sense to me.

    Thank you for sharing this. My experience of the awareness is not understanding where that imaginary line is that will put me into pain. For instance when I am doing swim therapy I have to be sure keep my eye on the clock not to go over 20 min. Working on my stamina. I don't fear it I just know that it's smart. But there are days when it smacks me down. I have dealt with chronic pain for over 20 years . I was a 110% person on my job. My whole spine is affected do to so many surgeries, on top of having my
    r/shoulder's rotatorcuff torn off during back surgery. I have a reversed rotator cuff replacement.
    I've gone through the program of mind over matter that had Sorono's info. I understand the concept & try the steps but it hasn't worked like I was hoping it would. So, I keep trying & hoping it will work.

    I absolutely do this and find it hard not to, partly because I’ve never had any experience to “prove me wrong” so to speak. I predict that I will experience bloating after I eat because it’s happened for EVERY meal for 20 years and once it’s there, it doesn’t go. I anticipate it happening so often and as a result it feels like it’s very much directly caused by food / eating / gut dysfunction. How can the brain “create” bloating and visible distension?! Definitely something I need to ponder more!

    This is exactly what happened to me this week. Every month, 2 days before my cycle I get a really bad headache, however, due to stress I think, my cycle length has been off. So I have been using an app that tells me when those 2 days will be and it always happens.
    However, this month, my days were out and I checked my app wondering where the pain was and I saw that it was 2 days before, and guess what... later that day, the pain came on. But I reassured myself that it was TMS and I knew I was ok. And at times it started to ebb and flow and fizzle out. So much so I thought sod it and decided to clean the house! It was pretty colourful at times but normally it's like that for 8 hours, but it was for less time. Then the next day my cycle started so I knew 100% that it was TMS not PMS! lol Because that was actually not 2 days before!!!! My brain believed it was 2 days before so it needed pain!
    I've now deleted the app so I can't tell when those 2 days before will be so I cannot predict it. (However, I did see next month's timing, unfortunately). Can you see any other way I can deal with this Dan?

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Год назад +1

      Yes - consistent messages that there is ZERO reason to get a headache at all and the number of days before your cycle are meaningless. Not to say there aren't any NORMAL hormonal changes, but they are not dangerous. Your brain MAY be sensing the NORMAL hormonal changes and interpreting them with an "Uh Oh!" instead of a "No big deal". Clarity, calm, consistency.

      No, you can't change the expectation, but you can change your response to it when it hurts. Regardless of you not being able to prevent it, there may be an automatic fear response when it happens. Respond in a calm reassuring way and see how that goes.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  2 года назад +1

      Everyone is different. I tried meditation and it was not the solution for me. I view meditation as a fixing activity. And every time you do it, you ask - "did it work"? And when you still have symptoms, frustration ensues along with self judgment that we aren't meditating properly. My program does not include meditation or breath work or other fixing activities. Hey Dan, I have been practicing what you've mentioned here. But I struggle with negative awareness - as in, whenever I try calm reassurance, another part of my mind goes into thinking "you are still resisting what is with random affirmations", "you are still caught up in obsession with your pain", "you are trying to push away negative thoughts so invariably these will cause pain". And then I kind of feel tired, overwhelmed and frustrated. How do I get out of these negative associations surrounding awareness?

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  2 года назад +3

      Do less of the calm reassurance. If you notice negative thoughts, you can simply not engage with them at all. If calm reassurance doesn't feel right, don't do it. If you notice negative fearful thinking, simply say "I'm not thinking about that now" and get back to whatever you were doing before those thoughts came along. We don't have to stop our thinking or fix our thinking. We can watch them pass by with zero engagement.
      You will be aware of the pain. It's how you respond that matters. Ideally, a "so what" or "whatever" attitude of indifference is great. If you are unconcerned by the pain, the brain will realize the pain is not dangerous.

    • @markmuzeroll2928
      @markmuzeroll2928 Год назад +1

      I’d like to echo what Dan said regarding watching Thoughts pass by. I can say for certainty from many years of meditation practice and working with wonderful meditation teachers that this is a big key. Just this practice of watching thoughts. The beauty in this as Dan said is that we do not have to stop thinking. we simply do not give the negative thinking any weight. This practice I believe can really complement the practice of calm reassurance that Dan encourages us to do. So we are consciously giving directions to our brain through this calm reassurance. Through the awareness practice we watch the automatic thinking that may be positive, negative, or neutral. Calm reassurance and watchful awareness. May we all be happy, healthy and wise 🙏😎🙏

    My migraines wake me up in the middle of the night, I wake up terrified, soaked and in the middle of yet another TMS migraine. I meditate night and morning, I know this is TMS from an event years ago, I've read the books, the podcasts, by the way, thank you for yours, I'm with curable, done the Dr Schubiner course and yet I repeat this. Any suggestions anyone?

      Hey Toni. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. Since they come on at night during sleep, there is not much you can do while sleeping to influence the subconscious. The two things you can control are whether or not you go to be expecting the migraine and how you respond if one happens to occur. This video explains more.

    I don't get dizzy with certain movements, but 24/7 when I'm on my feet. How is the "I'm good approach" supposed to work here?

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Год назад +1

      That one approach may not work in every situation. But try this. When you notice the dizzy feelings, say I'm good. Give it as little fear or attention as possible.

    How about the fact that I experienced the symptom of numbness in my feet from stenosis before the doctor described the symptoms. Did my brain make that up? I want to believe in TMS ,but how could I create the symptoms before I even knew about them? Really want to believe it’s PDP.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  5 месяцев назад

      The brain can create any symptom all on it's own without conscious awareness. The perception of danger can cause it. My fast start playlist will explain more. The third video gives ideas on how you can tell if this is what's going on with you. DansFastStart.com

    Does this apply to people who suffer from Myofascial pain syndrome along with mild retrolisthesis (C4 in relation to C5),and straightened cervical lordosis?
    In my case, I feel dull ache when using my upper back & arm (right part) for a long period of time and when my muscles are at rest state (just sitting, lying down), I usually feel discomfort like my upper back (right part) is sensitive (when wearing bra, tight clothes), feel a little itchy/tingling sensation?

    • @PainFreeYou

      We don't rule in TMS with medical diagnosis'. There are some assessments that will tell if your symptoms are created by your brain or your body. They are here:

      @@LyraGomez-vd2uq Ok - but the way to know if your symptoms are TMS are to do the assessments that I just pointed you to in my last comment.

      No, I do not have any symptoms whatsoever. But the blue light from devices is not good for us. Especially after dark. The blue light signals to our body and brain that it's 12:00 Noon which can affect our sleep. I simply choose to protect against these blue lights. Not TMS.
