- The Lionheart LH9 pistol is a military handgun at its very core. This South Korean 9mm is one of the most unique double action autos on the market. The LH9 is available is several configurations, however in this video we take a look at the LH9N MkII, which is their top of the line model.

I actually forgot I had one of these and had stowed it away in an old bugout bag.
The slide still runs as smooth as it did 5yrs ago and there is zero rust on any part of the pistol. I can't wait to shoot it again.
This gun looks amazing and I love the idea of the trigger. It also looks to me like a 1911 and beretta 92 had a child, all grown up!
Red pilled patriot so a high power?
Except it's not as ugly as a Hi power
Nah, more line CZ-75 and 1911
@@ClintEastwoodenDoors hi power is beautiful.
to me p226 and 1911
Thanks for the video. You've managed to keep your no-bs, informative & to the point style of reviewing after all this time, something I've always appreciated.
Thanks, brother. It's appreciated.
I was researching this gun online when I found your channel and this gun review, thank you for such a comprehensive review! One of my first autos was a S&W 59 which was one of my favorite guns. I've been looking for a gun to replace it for years. After seeing your review we decided to buy the LH9 mk ll. what a great gun I'm so impressed! And it's so accurate! Thanks again and keep up the great work!
One more for the "Must Have" list.
my next check is going straight to lh lol
I would highly recommend checking one out. I have a DP51 that I got well used in 2006. It still shoots great and I don't ever plan on getting rid of it. The LH9's are basically like the DP51 but with some modernization or upgrades to them from Lionheart.
I find that gun attractive looking. Think they did a good job with aesthetics in comparison to the DP-51.
I agree. I think it's a handsome piece.
Thanks MAC for the review! I've been thoroughly impressed by my LH9 and find it to be one of the more instinctive pointing handguns I have ever shot. I have talked to the guys over at Lionheart a few times and they are a great company and I look forward to purchasing their other models as well. Also I must say they did a great job on pairing with my favorite holster maker (G-Code) and firearms lubricant (Froglube). Keep up the great work!
Another excellent review. The LH9 looks like a really well built handgun. Thanks for sharing...
Great video Tim. I need to get my paws on one of these now…
It's a neat pistol. I've had it now for about 8 months and fired over 1k rounds through it. I always have a lengthy review cycle... but in that time I've really grown to appreciate the gun. The one thing that made me move away from double action pistols, and to striker fired pistols for carry, was the heavy double action first shot. The LH9 changes that. This is one of the very few double action autos I would consider for daily carry.
Been waiting on one of yall to do a review on this
love seeing two of my favorite youtube channels in the same place. maybe a collaboration is in order??
Now's the time Mr GnG...they're on sale right now $399 for LH9 (but you probably already got one by now).
I don't know about the LH9 but the old DP51 will work with a Smith 469, 59, 5904, 5906 magazine, but it does not seat all the way in. Marlin Camp 9 30 round mags fit, and so do ProMag's Woo 32, and S&W 5904 30 or 32 round mags, but ProMag's quality, quite frankly, sucks ass. Some judicious work with some large needle nose pliers usually helps, but for carry, stick with MecGar or Factory Daewoo mags.
I own one and love it. I'm glad to see a trusted opinion on this gun. Thanks for the videos. Can't wait to see the next
Beautiful pistol, I really like that "double action plus" feature.
Fantastic as usual MAC!
Also have been waiting for this review. This pistol has been on my radar for over a year, I'm pretty certain you just sold me on it! Looks like a great firearm
Your review of this weapon was brought up in general discussion on 1911Forum. I went to the Lionheart website, and reviewed their options. After your review of this weapon, I will be purchasing the Model you reviewed as my first 9mm. Great channel, and so much more informative than other channels where some guys like Nutn more than to hear themselves talk
Third review on this I have seen and it made me change my mind, I want one : ) Comparisons of similar options and going through the usefulness of certain features helped me see why I would consider this over a glock or m&p in some situations. Thanks for the video and the work behind it!
ohh finally a review of my pistol. Well, I still have my DP51 with the tri-action. LOVE IT. But been worried about replacement parts so was happy to see Lionheart coming out with this one.
I got a beat up used DP51 in 2006 and absolutely love it. People laugh or sneer when I tell them it's a Daewoo, but after they try it put they are pretty impressed. I had no problem carrying mine and trust my life to it. One reliable and good shooting pistol. Also insanely easy to field strip and clean.
Great video and review. I have been very interested in one of these for awhile and will definitely be getting one now.
Great Review, I definitely going to have to check the LH9 out.
Excellent review Tim. Looks like a sweet shooter!
Great review! Interesting pistol with a unique action.
Great review I've been thinking if buying this gun and have watched a read reviews and I think this review just helped me make my decision!!
I purchased a VP9 last month and absolutely love it. It makes me a better marksman!
Tim thanks for doing the review on this firearm, it was great! I am picking it up tomorrow ;)
I plan on getting this for my first carry gun. Thanks review!
Very good review, I have owned one of these for almost a year now. Mine is an LH9 MKII, the novak sight option was not available at the time. I have had no malfunctions in that time, it will take any ammo, everyone I have let try it loves it. One thing that MAC didn't mention about the pistol, the slide has a barrel bushing making for a tight lockup and very accurate pistol. Another thing if you are concerned about it being made in Korea don't. I had received a pistol with a slight issue, Lionheart bent over backwards to fix it even contacting the engineers in Korea to advise me on what to do. They have some of the best customer service if your pistol ever has an issue, which it shouldn't I was the first one to ever have one. I would buy from them again and recommend them to anyone who is a fan of service pistols.
Two reason why I believe its quite expensive (and has to be):
1. It comes with a soft case with froglube, lock, cleaning utensils, and two mags.
2. It is imported from S&T Motiv in South Korea.
3. Full metal frame, hammer forged barrel, factory-applied cerakote finish.
Awesome video MAC
Very nice gun - that I have never heard of before. Love when I hear about new guns.
I own and very much enjoy my CZ 75 P01. I love the S&W 59 and plan on getting a used one someday. Now the Lionheart has my finger itching. Very nice handgun. Perfect size.
The LH9 sounds like a outstanding pistol. Will have to get my hands on one.
Hey Tim, I know this video is old as sin but I just wanted to thank you for the review. It nudged me towards my purchase and couldn't be happier with it. Looking forward to more obscure cold war peices.
I've actually been seeing these in gun shops and even big box stores. I'd love to try one out. They look cool as hell
Nice to see these getting more attention. Always wanted one and now I might have to invest.
What a Great review on the Lionheart pistol. The double action plus is such an interesting feature on this pistol. I have to say that the high end pistol does fit into my budget and I just might have to put this on my wish list. It is one Very Good looking pistol.
awesome gun, I'm thinking in get one, and everyday and every review I'm close to a lionheart on my bag :-)
Great review MAC. :-)
Thanks Mac, another buy added to ever growing list..Thanks.
Great review. Thanks for sharing!
That's one good looking firearm. I liked the color combinations as well
I finally got my hands on one of these. They are great feeling in the hand. Ii am looking forward to range time.
That hammer trip is really cool. I like that. Also that light is really cool.
Seems like a nice pistol. As always, excellent review. Thanks for sharing.
The DP-51 was under $300 retail in @ 1992-1993. A great value at the time. Nice to see that has been reincarnated is available in the U.S.
Great video. SK makes great stuff! Weapon looks marvelous.
Picked up a LH9C few hours ago from Blythe's Valpo. half hour and 100 rounds later myself and a few other shooters were sold on it. Now to get a holster from Contact Concealment for it.
I really like how David Fortier referred to the DA+ as 'triple action' using the original South Korean / Daewoo terms. You guys really know your firearms :]
What a beautiful gun...great review.
very interesting pistol. Adding it to the shopping list.
I just bought a MKII. I love it! I based my decision heavily on your RUclips reviews and what you wrote on TheBangSwitch. thank you for putting in so much work on your reviews. I wanted to buy mine from you but Copper Custom didn't have one on the website.
I picked up two Mec Gar S&W 5906 20 rd magazines. So far they are working well. However my stock Lionheart 15rd magazine has stopped locking the slide back on the last round fired. I have yet to hear back from them.
Perfect music in the background!
Very nice review Tim. Tell me, how would you compare this pistol to the Ruger 10-22? I will wait patiently for your smart alec response. :)
The 10/22 is tough to beat, it's the caliber that I really admire. .22 is a little cannon.
Hitting consistently at 500 yards, we realize that 9mm is out of date.
My new EDC is a 10-22 in each hand.
I prefer the 10-22 as it makes a much more effective whoopin' stick.

I like this little gun the more I see of it. Reminds me of a Sig P series. Maybe I'll own one in the future :) great video guys!
I really like the action sound as it is racked, sounds positive and solid, a real quality piece of machinery... The accuracy seems to be outstanding, it doesn't take a backseat to any other auto,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the upgraded Korean LH9:pistol. Greatly appreciated as I still weigh my Korean pistol purchase.
Thanks again and have a great weekend, my friend. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Very cool firearm, great review
I've been considering this pistol for some time now. I think it is VERY attractive looking gun, almost like a cross between a Hi power and S&W 59 series. I want. now.
Another great review!!!
Nice gun. I like that it actually follows all the ideas of the top guns that I like...HiPower, P38, 1911 and the S&W Mod69. All of them fit in my hand which makes for fantastic shooting for me. Thanks for the comparison tips in mags also.
Another great video!!
That is a really good looking pistol, especially the grip
Ordered a LH9N-MkII (In Black) last night. Can't wait till I get my hands on it :D
Lionheart is offering Black Friday sale from November 28, 2014 - Monday December 1, 2014. LH9 for $399. Savings from $170-$270 on 3 models.
Yeah, their Black Friday sale / deal is an amazing value! Wish more American companies would follow their lead and offer some fantastic discounts. I love my LH9 and am I definitely thinking of adding another. =)
I was REALLY surprised how simple the take-down is.
Very good review looks like a Pistol worth looking at, Thanks
Wish I could have bought one during the black friday sale last year but I hadn't started my new job yet. The LH9 without the rail is certainly on my shortlist though. Great review.
Nice review on a unique firearm.
"Lionheart " Sounds soo good
Nice looking pistol you got me interested now
Damn that's a sexy gun.
Great review.
This is a really nice pistol. Something else it kinda resembles, I have a model 39-2 S&W SA/DA but instead of pushing the hammer forward you have a decocker on the mod 39. The only reason I feel confident about carring with one in the pipe. Also when you use the decocker it disables the trigger.I wouldn't mind having the LH9 very cool. Thanx for the vid.
LH9C is so awesome luvin it ... so accurate but its just what pistols were before polymer and as a bonus it fits in my glock 26 holsters, if you want to start a conversation tell someone you are carrying a lionheart 9mm
that is a really nice handgun its a really good firearm and i like the features
My god man did you eat Kevlar to grow face armor? That beard is taking on a life of its own.
I store spare ammo and a couple days worth of food and water in there...
The Canik TP9 pistols are destined to go the way of the DP-51 and the HS2000; when they were unknown they were dirt cheap and great pistols, then a big company (Lionheart and Springfield respectively) slapped their names on them and the price rocketed upwards. Bud's wanted $700 for the LH9N but I made an offer for $600 last night and to my surprise it was accepted. I've seen Bud's selling them for around $400 on sale but that was a while ago and I doubt I'd be able to snag a new one at that price anymore so I'm happy with the purchase. Not only is it a capable weapon it seems but IMO it's drop-dead gorgeous. And it's not a pistol you see often at your trips to the range (or wherever it is you shoot) so that added to the appeal for me, it's a pleasant deviation from the normal range suspects, the Glocks, the Kimbers, etc.
I plan to EDC this pistol as well and see how it pans out in that capacity and I'll more than likely make my own video after doing so for at least 6 months.
But great video, as usual, Tim. Hopefully your LH9 is still going strong (if you've still got it that is). If you do I'd like to see a follow-up video, that'd be awesome!
Another great MAC review. Next to my SIG P226, my LH9 probably my favorite handgun that I own. Price might be an issue for some folks, but honestly, you're getting a lot for your money - cerakote, a fantastic nylon case with cleaning materials, etc. A brand new SIG will easily cost you anywhere from $900-1000+ after tax. Carrying a LH9 concealed is definitely more comfortable than carrying a full size P226 though, LOL.
Company support / customer service from Lionheart is also quite good too.
One more thing: In support of what Tim mentioned about LH9's being compatible with old S&W 59 series magazines... it's true! I found a brand new 30 round magazine (hangs out like crazy) and it functioned flawlessly with the pistol.
Almost 3 years later and I still want one of these. Just haven't had the money whenever I find one.
Great review Tim, I've been waiting for this review since your ammo test a few months back. This is my EDC, and before I actually tried the DA+ I thought it sounded gimmicky. Now that I've used it I love it. I was also surprised at the fit & finish, even in the case and extras included. I use the Haley INCOG, and really like how it carries.
BTW I found street pricing to be much less than suggested. I paid $150 less than retail new.
Definitely on my list!
Any chance of a video of your top 5 pistols & rifles video? Always enjoy your professional videos, and look forward to them each day.
nice review!
That trigger works very similarly to the DAK trigger on my Sig 239. Had the gun for several years before I discovered you could preset the hammer with the trigger.
My wife (but only close friend at the time) chose the DP51 for her first handgun purchase in 1994. It's still her favorite even though she recently stole my P229. She's 5'4" and it fits her hands nicely.
It's a small, handy pistol. I think a lot of people will overlook it because it's not a mainstream handgun here in the US and dismiss it because it's made in Korea. I think that's a mistake. It's one of the better double action autos on the market, IMHO.
Great overview, that slide fitment is slick..."My lips are freezing" LOL
Damn, I've been all about CZ-75 and M&P 9 but that gun is my new favourite!
Good looking pistol! DA+ action is also pretty sweet.
Oh wow, it really does it all.
Great Review.. Me Gusta... Thanks for the review on this.
This is the 2nd pistol I've seen that has a "trigger bar" on the rightside of frame just like the Beretta 92fs/M9 models.A feature that's not in any other exposed hammer double action semi-automatic pistols.
i was able to take a look at the Daewoo K1 rifle and actually love it and want to buy one you would never think of SK for guns but their stuff is quality
Looks nice and slim. Then again you got XXL mitts wrapped around it.
Looks like a fun pistol.
love this pistol!
very very cool firearm!
Great review. ....NICE grouping. B-)
thats really cool!
This gun reminds me of the BHP SFS system, just shifting the safety recocking system with the trigger. Maybe like a Browning BDA mixed with the SFS. I want one.
Sweet pistol!
I had one of these last summer. Great gun apart from the grips that scrape your side pretty bad when carrying IWB. Kinda miss that gun.
Nice gun bro
Looks cool
Saw these some time ago on a gun dealer's web site and was VERY curious about the 3 way hammer and trigger set up, but i could never find them in stock. Today i was looking at a military surplus site and they had 4 officer DP51s up for sale rated good+ so i ordered one. After looking on the net, youtube and full30 i really can't find anyone that has anything bad to say. I am looking forward to shooting it and trying that 3 way trigger system!!!!!
