I LOVE this version as much as the original. I always thought it was interesting that Sammy said in an interview once that the first time he heard "Jump' on the radio it pissed him off (he laughed when he said it). He said it was the near perfect pop rock song and was aggravated that they wrote it and it wasn't his!! LOL. Still a great song,.
Van Halen decided to take a Leap of Faith with this song/video. That is why we pop/rock fans felt the need to "Jump" four decades ago. It still serves an inspirational and entertainment purpose.
Roth has always been my favorite Van Halen frontman and he will continue to be but I can’t ignore the fact that Sammy can really sing the songs that the band wrote with Roth very nicely
I think God all the time that I was born in the era of Van Halen that I got to see them from the very beginning with David Lee Roth van Halen 12 women and children first diver down 1984 and then to see them with Sammy Hagar running the band and all the way to the very end. I always loved this song, so upbeat positive & happy. This live version sounds fantastic, a special kind of beat & groove to it. Love hearing Sam or Dave sing it, just a great song. Be nice if people would stop with the chest puffing ego of choosing a 'team' and beating the other team down with the Sam verses Dave stuff, who is better, what's wrong, when there is so much that is right about this song, just enjoy the music :)
Positive and happy? You may have missed the suicide issue..."go ahead and jump" (and how it was released in the news for similar issues)? You missed that, I'm guessing? It is positive in a manly "shit may be bad, but we make the most of things anyway"

+Ron R seen every VH tour 1978 - present, HAGAR was better than GARY CHERONE though, but ROTH era was the best, VH Sold more albums with ROTH and LIVE they were untouchable from 1978-1984. It's not that I hate Hagar he just don't do ROTH Covers any justice, they have 2 different styles, Van Hagar was more Lovey Dubey Ballads, all the girls loved it when I put "Why Cant This Be Love" on the stereos at Partys yet the Guys were like FUCK THIS put PANAMA or AINT TALKIN BOUT LOVE on and lets PARTY!!! Thanks for posting that to remind us of the greatness of the mighty Van Halen!
Hagar is Van Halen. Van Hagar is the foundation of ROCK n Roll child...
The magic of Van Halen is UNPARALLELED! ITS 2020 AND IT STILL SOUNDS THE SAME AS IT DID IN 1984!
The better song on 1984 album and way underrated and is Eddie playing rhythm unbelievable is ruclips.net/video/FcJA2-Vq4xY/видео.htmlsi=_DD6_z7Mn5NYeYCG
This is one of those songs I must've heard hundreds of times in my life but unlike the others I never get sick of it. Its so uplifting
DLR only sang well in studio..he was VH...but Hagar sings good live and studio..he is amazing..period..
Hagar is an astonishingly great singer on all levels.
Fact is they are both talented in their own way. DLR may not have been their best singer but he has enough charisma and showmanship to make up for it.
DLR is too much of a clown for a such a talented band. Sammy is a better fit since he too is talented. DLR belongs in a circus.
DLR was NOT Van Halen... such a lousy, mediocre singer... even in the studio versions he is out of tune!
@TriplePlay Damn right! DLR SUCKS!
RIP Eddie Van Halen. Yet another rock god taken too early
When Sammy came on scene.. I was hooked! Love you Eddie.. RIP! And Alex you're still awesome even though you don't get as much credit♡♡♡♡
Sammy’s vocals are spot on!!!!
RIP EDDIE. He inspired many generations of musicians.
Wow this version with Sammy is amazing!!!!!!
Roth has always been my favorite Van Halen frontman and he will continue to be but I can’t ignore the fact that Sammy can really sing the songs that the band wrote with Roth very nicely
by nicely you mean in tune and with high energy
Probably why they hired him haha. Plus he wasn’t fud
Thanx Eddie for the beautiful music! Keep on jumping !
I was at this concert in Fresno, CA. in 1992. One of the best I've ever seen.
I think God all the time that I was born in the era of Van Halen that I got to see them from the very beginning with David Lee Roth van Halen 12 women and children first diver down 1984 and then to see them with Sammy Hagar running the band and all the way to the very end. You talk about being blessed everyone of us that got to see this incredible band and I seen them many times in concert they always put on a great show yeah there was time is it Edward was pretty lit up but they were still great and I will always miss this band and how I keep them alive is by listening to their music still and turning on other people younger than me to them
I always loved this song, so upbeat positive & happy.
Man Sammy really loves Michael. Pure joy that moment with both of them on mike.
Thanks for the music, Eddie.
Fresno California was never the same after this night! Thank you, Edward, for all your miracles including Wolf. He is not following in your footsteps, he's in them and is you 2.0.
Never a Van Halen fan until Sammy Hagar entered the picture. Most don’t agree I imagine, but between Hagar and the introduction of keyboards, it opened up a whole new world for them. RIP Eddie.
RIP Eddie thanks for some great memories
Sammy can definitely sing. His solo work is incredible as well
no cellphone. pure emotion
The best rendition of that song with the best singer for it!!!!!
Esse vocalista nunca deveria ter saído da banda( the best)
In my opinion, this was Van Halen at their best.
+synthartist69 Seen both as well as Van Halen in L.A. when they first started out and it's just not Van Halen without Roth !
+synthartist69 it was two different Van Halens, and there is nothing wrong with that. Jump however is a Roth song.
+synthartist69 100% AGREE!!
+synthartist69 Sammy was the right thing at the right time. This time of the band was the best of musicianship and songwriting. No Doubt
I preffered Hagar in MONTROSE!!!
I've never heard Sammy sing this song. He did a great job!! I've always preferred the original, but with Sammy its like getting 2 bands in one. Every single album Van Halen ever put out was stellar.
Back in the days when music was sooooooo good , so pure , so harmonies, so talented , everything was perfect !!
One of my favourite from Van Halen 👍👍👍👍👍.,,, EVH gone but not forgotten, Your sweet music legacy lives forever !! RIP EVH !!
