One key difference between the pagan and a Christian, is that the Christian knows s/he can have a personal relationship with God, in a Father-child relationship, whereas the pagan may connect with nature, and even have a functional relationship with it, but not a personal one.
This relationship is made possible by a spirit-fragment from the Father that indwells our minds, and gives us and God access to each other on a 24/7 basis. It's a dedicated line that's always open. It's just that most people never bother to pick up that phone, so to speak. They never answer the call. I have, and it's wonderful! Dad is my best friend!

@@anilkanda611 - The full term is "pre-personal spirit fragment" of the Father. It's an updated term that expands on the concept of the still small voice, or the kingdom of heaven within. It comes from The Urantia Book, (written by celestial beings).
As we learn to communicate with it (like in the Stillness), asking questions and getting suggestions from it, we gradually become more mature, heading in that ever elusive 'becoming perfect' mission. When our thoughts align perfectly with our Thought Adjuster's, we fuse with it, like Enoch, and do what's known as "translating" - becoming spirit born absent the need for death.

People ask me "Why does God hate me?" and I usually tell them not to feel alone, God hates everybody, look at his history and be thankful that you weren't among the multitudes of innocent people he's murdered and tortured in the past.
This usually makes them feel better, then I explain to them that God has some extreme mental problems that would be treated with powerful drugs and incarceration if he was on Earth, the best way to deal with God's hate and anger issues is to keep a low profile, don't do anything that may bring yourself to his attention, but if you feel this will restrict or hamper your lifestyle it's best to gather a few allies, enemies of God such as Satan, Lord Ahriman, Baal, Moloch etc and this will afford you protection from this wrathful God, your life will improve, no more praying and groveling to a monster who may smite you at the smallest provocation.
You can begin to enjoy a life of hedonism, depravity and debauchery without feeling guilty, your new friends will help you by giving guidance and introducing you to like minded people. As the saying goes, "This is the first day of the rest of your life" have fun.

A couple of things to add. One, the concepts of "monotheist" and "polytheist" are modern. For the ancient Israelites who were faithful to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, they were not so much monotheists (believing there was only one God) as they were faithful to or trusting in one God.
The other, the concept that ancient people couldn't have a "personal relationship" with their gods is not accurate. Read the classics like the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Aeneid, the Epic of Gilgamesh, etc. The ancient pagans believed they had very real, personal, and at times familial relationships with the divine. Christianity isn't about relationship because all religions offer a relationship of some kind. What make Christianity unique is the idea the divine has come to live like us and has freed us from the powers that bring about death and decay so that we might live.

The Bible in its entirety tracks YHWH's actions in history and relationships with his people to advance firstly the preparation for the Messiah, and thence the foundation of his Kingdom. It is established in history in God's creating in 'days' of history. By this he underlines both his identity (for our worship) of being the creator who is love, and our cognate identity as his creatures which interlocks with his. Thus making our fellowship with God the real destiny of mankind (in Christ, of course). YHWH's actions are always in relationship with the people he created to know him; not in mythic symbols or abstract 'forms' or impersonal 'movers', but grounded in the real concrete reality that he created.
Pagan myths are de-historicised fantasies that are typically detached from history and dislocated in space. Any deities they propose are typically set within the cosmos, and not separate from and prior to it. So they worship the creature, not the creator.
Our eternal relationship with our creator can only be resolved by him being external to the fractured 'system' of our domain of life. Yet he has always been active and present in it. First in creation, established by the sequence of days of causally rational creation events by his word, then in Yeshua, Messiah. Who revealed the Father to us ("you've seen me, you've seen him").
    Thank you for this video.

@@anilkanda611 While some events in the Bible can be verified, historians do not consider the Bible as a historical reference text. Instead, they look for primary documents and archaeological evidence as better sources of historical events than the Bible.
The early stories are held to have a historical basis that was reconstructed centuries later, and the stories possess at most only a few tiny fragments of genuine historical memory, which by their definition are only those points which are supported by archaeological discoveries.
It’s very easy to find the roots of Christianity in other religions. For example, both the garden of eden and The flood were taken from Gilgamesh, Moses is taken straight from Sargon of Akkad. Even the story of Jesus is borrowed from multiple other gods/religions. These were all before the bible was compiled.
No question that the Bible has been altered and edited over the centuries.
We don’t have the original manuscripts. What we have are copies of copies of copies of … you get the idea. In many cases the copyists didn’t even speak the language they were copying. And don’t forget the little matter of translations of translations of copies of translations ….
Fact is, there is something like 400,000 versions of the bible in existence today (that’s versions, not translations). The major religions can’t even agree on how many books there are in the bible so how can anyone possibly know that their bible is “the real deal”?
“The scholar John Mill, no apparent relation of the philosopher John Stuart Mill, published a Greek New Testament in 1707 that showed 30,000 different available readings from only 100 manuscripts at his disposal. He was accused of trying to destroy Christianity by pointing out the truth. … We now have over 57,000 different manuscripts available and contemporary scholars believe there are between 300,000 and 400,000 different versions of the New Testament. That is more different versions of the New Testament than there are words in it. Since we don’t have any original documents, or copies, or copies of the copies, etc., we have no idea which of these 400,000 variations is the perfect one. Frankly, it boggles the mind that someone could imagine that if 400,000 different versions have come down to us that there could be one ‘perfect’ version.”
We know that at various times the church decided which books belonged in the bible so you’re depending on the “wisdom” of the men who made those decisions - and it’s safe to say that those decisions would be driven by a desire to see that the final product conformed to their personal orthodoxy.
For that matter, individual copyists have made changes to the text in order that their copy agreed with their individual orthodoxy.
It’s easy to point out some of those changes - everyone is familiar with the story of Jesus and the adulteress (“let he who is without sin …”). While it’s a great story with a worthwhile moral it doesn’t appear in any version of the bible before the 12th century. By the same token - in the oldest bibles in our possession, the Gospel according to Mark ended with Mark 16:8. Everything after that (9-20) was added at a later date, probably so that it would agree with Matthew (which was apparently copied, in large part, from Mark).
Jesus has been compared to a broad variety of figures from various mythological traditions within the Mediterranean Basin, including, Horus, Dionysus, Mithras, Sol Invictus, Osiris, Asclepius, Attis, and Adonis.
For instance Osiris was crucified, died and rose up on the third day.
The New Testament was written in Greek, as well. And for the first few centuries CE, there was a great deal of influence from Hellenistic (Greek) philosophy onto Christianity, from the very idea of a “Christ”, or savior, to the Platonic ideas of the soul and afterlife, which was largely foreign to the Jewish tradition.
Jesus was a Christian form of the Greek god Dionysus. He argues that the indisputable parallels between Dionysus and Jesus were one of the key factors that facilitated the adoption of Christianity by the ancient Greeks, who initially practiced polytheistic paganism.

And the next day the elder said to the younger: Behold I lay last night with my father, let us make him drink wine also to night, and thou shalt lie with him, that we may save seed of our father. They made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in, and lay with him: and neither then did he perceive when she lay down, nor when she rose up. So the two daughters of Lot were with child by their father. [Genesis 19:31-36]
      9. Looking at a woman with desire is akin to adultery: "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." (Matthew 5:28)
      10. But incestuous rape is cool: And when she had presented him the meat, he took hold of her, and said: Come lie with me, my sister. She answered him: Do not so, my brother, do not force me: for no such thing must be done in Israel. Do not thou this folly. [II Kings 13:8-12] But he would not hearken to her prayers, but being stronger overpowered her and lay with her. [II Kings 13:14]
      11. Pray in private, and if you do so in church, do so quietly: Matt 6:5 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others."
      12. If you offend God he will kill you: "And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him. And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also." (Genesis 38:7-10)
      13. God smites women, children and often animals with equal gusto, he seems to equal evil and wrong doing by association, rather than by being guilty of the personal, individual act: "Behold with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods: And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day." (II Chronicles 21:14-15)
      14. Rev 21: 8 "liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." Eternal damnation for lying? In South Africa murderers and rapists often get released for good behavior, lying is politics.
And speaking of lying, the bible ends with this one. It calls its message 'the good news' and concludes, "I am coming soon." Wrong on the 'soon' bit, and unless we've missed something, no one has come. But I get it, if 2000 years pass, soon after such a length of time must be VERY soon. If 10 000 years pass, soon must be very VERY soon.
      Cannibalism in the Bible
      (detailed version)
      Deuteronomy 28:53-57 (also Lev 26:29)
Because of the suffering that your enemy will inflict on you during the siege, you will eat the fruit of the womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters the Lord your God has given you. Even the most gentle and sensitive man among you will have no compassion on his own brother or the wife he loves or his surviving children, and he will not give to one of them any of the flesh of his children that he is eating. It will be all he has left because of the suffering your enemy will inflict on you during the siege of all your cities. The most gentle and sensitive woman among you - so sensitive and gentle that she would not venture to touch the ground with the sole of her foot - will begrudge the husband she loves and her own son or daughter the afterbirth from her womb and the children she bears. For she intends to eat them secretly during the siege and in the distress that your enemy will inflict on you in your cities.
      2 Kings 6:26-29
As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, "Help me, my lord the king!"
The king replied, "If the Lord does not help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor? From the winepress?" Then he asked her, "What's the ma
      tter?"
She answered, "This woman said to me, 'Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we'll eat my son.' So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, 'Give up your son so we may eat him,' but she had hidden him."
      Jeremiah 19:9 (also Ezek 5:10)
I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another's flesh during the stress of the siege imposed on them by the enemies who seek their lives.
      Lamentations 4:10
With their own hands compassionate women
      have cooked their own children,
      who became their food
      when my people were destroyed.
      John 6:53-56
Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.

@@philipgrobler7253 you can argue objective morality from a consequentialist/natural law standpoint as i did prior to coming to Christ (and in a way is what led me to Christ), there are real determined consequences in response to behaviour (and behaviour flows from belief) especially at the societal scale these consequences become noticable if a societies moral standards are in line with God's law/natural law or not.
but consequences don't really make something moral or not, if we are all just matter in motion come about by chance there's no reason to call something evil or good regardless of consequences.
truth is absolute, right or wrong is absolute and is in line with the truth. imagine reality/truth to be a straight line, while man's perception of what is real or true / right or wrong is a sine wave going over that line, every now and then lining up with truth/reality as well as wavering away from truth. it is our goal to increase that frequency that we come in line with the truth, to be completely in line that would be an infinite frequency.
in other words, the goal is to become one with God, as God's Word is the way, the truth, and the life.
God is, was and always will be, He is the one and only constant, the source of everything, including life, outside of God there is no life to be found, for he is the life, without Him none of us would be. what is moral is in line with Gods will.
everything in this world will come to an end, but God will remain. everything you build up in this world will turn back to dust sooner or later, but God is eternal. Don't build treasure on this earth where moth and rust doth corrupt and where thieves break through and steal, but build treasure in heaven, sow to the spirit, not to the flesh.
don't let an emotional response to a superficial interpretation of the texts (although it is historic) dissuade you from seeking the meaning in the text, on my first read through of the bible, already having come to believe (that there was at least something to it) through listening to streetpreachers, i was disturbed by a lot of things written, superficially, not understanding the meaning, things like Abraham sacrificing Isaac or, as a vegan for 10 years, all the animal sacrifices etc.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Verse two is earth; meaning matter. Along with light; meaning energy.

Genesis 1:1 - Introduction to the chapter, summarizing it by saying that God created everything.
Genesis 1:2 - Exposition of the before verse 3 (meaning before God created everything).
Genesis 1:3-5 - God begins creating by speaking light into existence.
This is an entirely valid and excellent question, asking how we could have a description of the earth before God created the earth! (Please ignore the other commenters who think that reading Scripture is as simple as reading English translations at face-value with no consideration for all the historical context that has been lost over the ages and in translation.)
The answer lies in that the description of the earth being "formless and void," meaning that it didn't actually exist, it was just nothing. It sounds confusing that the earth could have description before it existed, but if you tried to explain what the universe was like before it's creation, you'll run into the same issue, using language as though it existed. As I understand it, ancient Hebrew didn't have a word for universe or all of Creation, so they would've had to describe it as the heavens (the skies/cosmos) and the earth. So, the summary of this verse is that nothing existed before God spoke light into existence in verse 3.
As for the detailed description in verse 2, please keep in mind that the Israelites significantly lacked our common-sense understanding of reality that has developed from science over the years, and that the Israelites would have almost certainly been flat-eathers. In their minds, there would've been two physical planes of existence: the earthly plane on which we live and the heavenly plane where the sun, moon, and stars reside. We understand that the absence of matter is void, like the void of outer space, but they would've thought differently. To them, the absence of earth would likely be the absence land, leaving only the ever-infinite sea. (Because the earth is not sky, it's void would not be air, but it would be water.) And, the absence of heavenly bodies would be air, or rather wind; and the Hebrew word for "wind" is the same world for "spirit."
So, a crude interpretive understanding of how Israelites might've understood verse 2 (quoting the ESV):
"The earth was without form and void,..." - Nothing existed ("void"), and there was no land.
"...and darkness was over the face of the deep...." - There was no sun or moon or star or heavenly thing ("darkness was over") above the earthly plane ("the deep" referring to sea).
"...And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." - There was only the void of land (the waters/sea), the void of sky (air/wind), and the presence of God.
Of course, it doesn't make any sense to us that water or air could have existed either, because we are able to comprehend a reality without water or air. But, such a concept to an ancient Hebrew would be abstract and difficult to understand. A modern equivalent might be trying to explain that before the universe, space and time probably didn't exist; that's very hard for our minds to truly comprehend, because we can't easily imagine reality without time or space. So instead, we tend to talk about reality before the universe was created as though time and space had existed then.
So, if we accept that this is an ancient, limited flat-earth perspective, then we can realize that verse 2 is just saying that nothing existed except God. You could argue that this describes the canvas onto which God paints, and that the canvas existed before God created it, but God didn't actually create/separate the heavens and the earth until verses 6-8. So why write about them in verse 2 as though they already existed? Again, it's hard for us to talk about reality as though space and time once didn't exist, and it was hard for ancient peoples to talk about reality as though the heavens and the earth once didn't exist.
Thank you for the amazing question, and I hope this long, arduous answer helps! Please feel free to follow up with any questions; explaining this clearly isn't exactly easy, and I'd like to make sure I'm communicating properly.

Just because history is mixed with myth doesn’t mean that every single word is truth. Moses was far removed from the time of creation. Lots of knowledge was lost during the flood. If biblical accounts of only Noah and his 3 sons and their wives were the only survivors of the flood I doubt that they carried the whole truth of creation with them. Also Moses was raised in Egypt from a very early age so I believe that he borrowed heavily from near eastern accounts

A myth isn't a "lie". Myths are story/narrative, and frequently metaphorical or symbolic. They're meant to convey an idea or moral (of the story).
In the case of Genesis, for example, it wasn't written to explain where we come from, but what our place in nature is, and our relationship to God. We are supposed to partner with him in developing and looking after the planet.
We can tell it's not meant to be what literally happened because of the symbolism of the names. Adam means Mankind, and has it's root in the Hebrew words for soil and blood. The name Eve, means mother of all.
Fun fact, we do all share a single common female ancestor, but I can't confirm if she was really called Eve...
