Jason, you’re a lifesaver and your generosity is second to none. You pretty much answered all of my questions in an entire video with the poa problem I’m dealing with. After being frazzled and confused, I’ll never be able to thank you enough for the valuable information you share with us viewers. Hope to meet you at your annual convention one day. Thanks for all you do 🙏🏼
Great content Jason. Northern cool season lawn here. (Jersey - Mostly Tall Fescue, with Kentucky Blue & Rye). I have pretty much eliminated my Poa Annua the past few seasons with regular fall applications of Prodiamine or Dimension. However, Poa Trivialis, (which is a perennial) is another story. There is no true selective herbicide to combat it. And being a perennial, pre emergents are ineffective. It's invasive as hell. Fortunately after the first 4 or 5 mowings of the season and once the weather warms up, it dies off. But until that happens (usually end of April up here) it's God awful ugly. Every spring is worse than the last and I'm afraid it's going to eventually wipe out my desirable turf. Which will only leave the option to do a completely kill off and reseed.
I've gotten better results with Katana in recent years than I did with Revolver. Both are slow kills in winter months though. Thanks for your videos! Very helpful.
Here in Tennessee I apply wood ashes during the winter and crabgrass/goose grass pre emergent . I like violets and clover so I no longer use 24D . The only problem is dallis grass which has be mechanically removed . A six acre lawn would require a small fortune to have perfect Bermuda grass .
Jason, i also tell my customers to bag their clippings for the next say month until it starts to die to collect as much of those seeds as possible. Negate does work pretty well and is pretty inexpensive compared to others.
I believe a rotation with spectile flo and simazine is amaing combination for POA, I believe some people also use galley (isoxaben) as a pre-m for poa. I think Specitle usually returns the best results but if you rotate those 3 throughout the season it seems like it returns great results.
If you spray your new customer with spectacle in spring, it will kill the poa that is already up. I don't get poa on my lawns using spectacle in the fall except maybe around drainpipes or maybe near a tree in shade. I backpack those spots with certainty. Spectacle is awesome in the spring for new customers with poa.
You think you hate it in your warm season grass, you should try dealing with it in a cool season lawn. 😓 My only option other than trying again next year is a $500 bottle of spray that is professional grade only.
I don’t know about poa but I expect we have it. That said, if you think nutsedge is bad in a lawn, try getting it out of vegetable garden beds - especially when you are growing organically. All you can do is pull it repeatedly.
my cool season weed nemesis is rescuegrass. it's all over my neighborhood so I'm always getting seeds blown in from the neighbors. Certainty with Celsius seems to do ok on it
@@hookem7030 sure you can apply anytime, but these two herbicides work best in warm weather. I would just spot treat right now instead of a broadcast application. It may slightly delay greenup in areas where applied but, beats looking at rescuegrass
Natural grasses are designed to take over lawns. They’re not weeds, they are grasses. I get it, lawn people are paid to put and keep only one species or variety of grass. But the actual natural grass looks fine and feeds the diversity of soil biology
I googled it for you Jason. It’s fine to use the H in the word herbicide “In British English, herb and its derivatives, such as herbaceous, herbal, herbicide, and herbivore, are pronounced with h. In American English, herb and herbal are more often pronounced without the h, while the opposite is true of herbaceous, herbicide, and herbivore, which are more often pronounced with the h.”
Thanks for the tips! So you recommend the pre-emergent to do most of the work and touch up with post if needed? I’ll let mine die in May and make sure I get a pre for the fall.
Double check your rate per acre. Max it out for a clean lawn. Also take note of wet, thin and runoff areas. They will need a follow up.Your herbicide is only as good as it's longevity and weed seed pressure.
SE of Dallas, my yard has scattered poa. I used Stagreen pre-emergent and sprayed Image on the yard, first part of February. The poa is flexing it's muscle. Would it be better to mow and let it die out w higher temps and hit it w pre-emergent in the Fall or do i treat it again in a few weeks? Thanks for your videos!
Hey neighbor I live in North Dallas and sprayed my poa with tenacity ( got from Amazon) and it killed it , took 2 applications, 2 weeks apart and your good .
@@Bsting2843 thanks for the info! It may be rescue grass, but I'll check out tenacity. I'm also thinking of taking the loss and hitting it good w preemergent in the fall.

I use Specticle Flo on my Celebration Bermuda yards, and results have been phenomenal.
I know poa annua well. Sprayed it two weeks ago. It's out in the lawn right now waiting for me. 😂
No love lost on poa at my lawn
😂😂😂😂😂
It's mofo in cool season grass to get rid of.
If you are targeting poa and broadleaf/ nutsedge you can also use Certainty . It is expensive too but it works 👍🏽
What about in cool season grass?

In my area we have glyphosate resistant poa. Only thing we can spray here is cool season grass that will even touch poa is Ethofumesate.
Jason, i also tell my customers to bag their clippings for the next say month until it starts to die to collect as much of those seeds as possible. Negate does work pretty well and is pretty inexpensive compared to others.
I call poa .. lawn herpes. Lol hard to get rid off if you can ever cus the seeds can stay and pop up 10years or 10 days. You never know
Thanks for your videos dealing with southern lawn care
Team loud H herbicide here. Good stuff and entertaining as always.
I might pronounce it both ways just to keep everyone happy
😂
Specticle flo has worked great for me the last couple seasons. Thanks
It works great on about 98% of my yards

Hey Jason 😀. Recommendations on clumping fescue????? Help.
i've had good luck with dismiss nxt on poa

This is a bad year for poa. it must be the mild winter and tons of rain.
It came out in force this spring in Maryland. The worst I've experienced.
Love the videos lots of information thank you
Thank you. I'm hoping to make a lot more this year
Did you use a surfactant and do you use a surfactant when tank mixing with a fertilizer or soil treatment mixture?
What is a good post emergent for POA for tall fescue? I have POA problem in a tall fescue yard? I see POA in yards all over my neighborhood.
Can you give me any advice about the best pre-emergent and post-emergent for a serious goosegrass infestation in common Bermuda?
Jason are you still running about 2 gallons per thousand for liquid fertilizer? Curious if you’ve decreased carrier volume at all. Thanks
Hey Jason I reseeded last year with Blackjack Bermuda seeds and the grass is turning green in some parts is that poana growing or Bermuda
Got any chickweed videos ? its suddenly appeared most likely form some mulch i used and its been a battle !
I have zoysia in Alabama. What can I use for monkey grass or mondo?
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching
Thank you
What products do u use in cool season lawns? As a pre-emergent and post-emergent?
I'm not a cool season expert but I think a lot of people still use prodiamine. Tenacity is popular as a post-emergent
my cool season weed nemesis is rescuegrass. it's all over my neighborhood so I'm always getting seeds blown in from the neighbors. Certainty with Celsius seems to do ok on it
Do you apply if even after the Bermuda is greened up or do you use it in the Fall then early Spring? I've got a rescue grass problem as well.
@@hookem7030 sure you can apply anytime, but these two herbicides work best in warm weather. I would just spot treat right now instead of a broadcast application. It may slightly delay greenup in areas where applied but, beats looking at rescuegrass
How to get ride of dallis grass
I hate POA! Have it in north GA 😢
I knew it was Poa before even watching 😅
with a name like poa annua you are in trouble lol
what you doing in my yard 😂
🤔🤔 what if Poa started with an H, Hoa down! Someone needs to go pick her up!
I am too poã for poa.

Did he say $2100 for that gallon?
Yes
$2100 😂😂
You've not seen the weeds in my grass. Way tougher.
Man, do you have an Instagram or something I could send a pic to? I have something growing in my lawn and I can’t figure out what it is
Thelawncarelife on instagram

@@lawncarelife yes but for all the knuckleheads that want to make an issue about it, this is for them. You guys know who you are. 😜
In my part of the south we call that scourge Po Anna. 😄
Say "herbicide" however you want! Your videos are the best.👍
Thank you
The H is definitely not silent in Alabama ya'll
For me, the worst weed is henbit. In southern Delaware.
Same here in Texas!
Thanks for the tips! So you recommend the pre-emergent to do most of the work and touch up with post if needed? I’ll let mine die in May and make sure I get a pre for the fall.
POA reeks Havoc here in Southern California. Unfortunately most of the products that are needed / used to kill POA are Banned for sale here.
It’s ridiculous here in South GA right now. My St. Augie is coming back to life, but that darn poa is already going full force.
I love videos. Thanks for all that you do!
No problem. Thank you for watching

I've been told it will damage it a little
@@lawncarelife ok well I guess i can hurt it's feelings at least ha
I call this annual Kentucky bluegrass.
When you need a video with lots of Poa. Let me know. I'm in the B'ham area.
Good common sense advice, thank you
Good common sense advice, thank you
Tenacity doesn't work on it either fyi lol
I call it POS. My says the same!😂😂
I got a lot of POA Now. May needs to get here😂
Herbicide comment made my day 😂
Thistle is way worse

I can never find the products you use for sale anywhere in Texas.
You should be able to find most of them online
Amazon sells them all
You’re hilarious man! Shouldn’t be an h if you don’t pronounce it! Love your videos.
Hi Jason, please tell me what advice you can give me regarding with the poa problem in Canada .
