Agreed! I remember it well (my junior year in high school)! October 15, 1988! Catholics vs Convicts gave it an added identity it didn't even need as was evidenced during the pre-game side show! The two preceding blowouts in '85 and '87 coupled with Notre Dame accusations made this a rivalry! The Irish played at a level in this game indictive of a team with a chip on its shoulder! Everything about it all wrapped up into one made it the most exciting regular season game in college football history

Miami wants to bitch and complain about that so called fumble in the 4th quarter at the Notre Dame Goal Line that cost them a 1st and goal and most likely the game( Yes indeed it was a very bad call). However the Hurricanes had a total of 7 turnovers in this game( 4 fumbles and 3 interceptions). Most of them occurred inside Notre Dame territory. I don't care how talented or good you are; you will lose 99.9/100% of the time when you commit that many mistakes in a game; especially on the road no matter who you are up against. If Miami doesn't commit a single turnover in this game, they win this one rather easily.
