- I’m beyond grateful to have made this beautiful Chiara backdrop for one of my best friends’ 1st baby shower 🎉 Even though I was a bit out of breath at times, being 7 months pregnant myself🤰🏽😂 I still had so much fun making AND using this DIY project 📸🧸🌾💚
The best part is that this design can be customized for ANY event! Baby shower, birthday party, wedding etc…

Gorgeous! Is there another way to stick the wooden sign on without making a whole in the arch?
You could try hanging the sign with fishing wire then use painters tape on the back of the foam board to hold the fishing line in place

Congratulations!! I actually haven’t worked with a neon sign (although I wish😍) I’m unfamiliar with how much it would weigh so I can’t say 😩

Thank you!! So from what I know Home Depot will give you 1 or 2 cuts for free per piece of wood you buy- just double check with them! w
We had a miter saw so we did precision cuts at home ☺️
love what you did! Does the foam board warp from the paint or does it stay smooth?
Oh thank you!! So the foam board was pretty solid, which made this design so easy. We primed it and let fully dry before painting, but all dried smooth 😊 no warping
Hi my Home Depot doesn't have that material. Could I make it with large foam same size as the one you used. Just doesn't have that pink material.
I haven’t tried this with any other foam so unfortunately I can’t say for sure 😕 One of the main reasons why I went with the pink foam board was because of it’s 1 inch thickness, I knew I was gonna be hanging things off of mine so since they were going to be top-heavy they needed to be thick enough to hold weight

The friend I made these for actually purchased those in a local store, but I have the others linked in the description! If you search online try looking up “boho dried palm leaves” hope this helps!

It was a tight fit, but I believe they were 23 inches wide (the panels were 24 inches or 2 feet)

We used a satin finish wall paint! It was provided by my friend, but any wall paint should do, highly recommend the primer!

Okay just got the names from my friend! They are all Valspar - Pistachio Gelato, Tawny Owl & Paper Kraft all in satin finishes 😊

Can this board be reused and painted to another colur
It’s been about a year and have been stored in a temperature controlled room so they’ve held up well! If they were mine I’d have no issue painting over them, but like walls, you don’t want to have too many layers of paint it will thicken over time

We went for 6ft in height and 2ft in width 😊
Just to clarify and prevent confusion, the proper way to specify dimensions of lumber is thickness x width x length, 1” x 2” x 8’ (or 1x2x8) and 1x4x8.

2ft wide and about 6ft tall!
What paint did you use that didn’t melt or damage the foam board ?
We used standard paint like you would for a wall. Didn’t experience any melting or damage, would highly recommend priming first!
This is awesome, how’d you get the edges to be so smooth after cutting ?
Thank you!! You can totally try using a sander, but I would recommend wearing a mask since it is insulation foam!
Did the board fit in a regular car or do you guys have a truck?
I have a truck now 😂 but for this I had a ford fusion! It fit with the back seats down !
What paint colors did you use?
It was cream, tan/taupe, and green, I wish I had the specific names! But my friend chose her paint for this one and no longer has the cans
The craziest part is the foam board she bought for $19 4 months ago when this was posted is now $32 🙄

@@DesignedbySmashley yes ma’am. They have gone up to $32. I should have gotten it when I went in there a month and a half ago. They were $19.98 in Home Depot and $19.28 in Lowes. Now the price is almost doubled. I bought it. Because your video was amazing. I am almost done. I just have to attach the bases and it will be done.

I found one by “R-Tech” that’s $13 for 1” by 4 ft. by 8 ft.
Right now in Lowes there the R-Tech insulation board 0.5in x 4ft x 8ft at $10.99

I wish I had one I could share! I will say we only painted the front and sides of the boards (The back wasn’t visible at all) Aside from that was just the wood planks (you can see at 5.42) + the brackets (you can see at 6:22) hope this helps!
Hello I just finished making these backdrops. AMAZING tutorial. Very easy to follow. I see another piece of wood looks like on the side of the foamboard that isn’t discussed in the video. I made the 3 pc stand and I bought the brackets. But looks like another piece of small wood is added. Will the white bracket actually be in the floor? Thanks so much.

@@bbmorais88 great question! Sorry it wasn’t as clear, but yes the additional wooden piece was only used as a supporting guide, we did not attach it. So in the end the white brackets are what’s flush to the floor, they laid flat so we could put the weights on top of them, I hope this helps!

How did you get your foam not to melt 🥴
It does melt a little when using the hot wire tool, but if you don’t like how the edges turn out you can always use some sandpaper to smooth it out before you apply your paint

Welcomeeee 🤗 so happy to hear it! And as long as you take care of them, they should definitely last for a few reuses. My friend kept them for future events! That’s exactly why I went with nails over screws 😉

I have seen videos where people said they used MDF and some even say plywood. Just wondering pros and cons to each choice.

@@youceemeglamstudio1624 that’s exactly it! We were wanting to keep them as light as possible, but wood can work as well! Just the tools to round the edge of wood would be more expensive then the hot wire foam cutter

Such a great question! We built the frames to be universal, so if we want to make different color foam boards they will still fit 😊 I wasn’t sure how well the foam boards would hold up, but my friend has stored them well (no humidity) and plans to use them for her baby’s first birthday in December 🥲

Well, thanks to Biden that foam now is $30.
But for $10 more you can get the 2” foam that doesn’t need any support, it’s pretty sturdy. You just need to build a foot and place for the weight.
That’s what I did.
