Sounds like you have a ‘go getter’ attitude that this lady needs to develop. Sometimes just staying home isn’t economically or ethically responsible. It’s hard to run a one income household these day and I don’t think government programs should be the solution to their problem
The caller's husband obviously has a full time non-military job. That caller isn't telling the truth about her husband doing "military stuff" at night. What she described is not full time military service, but Army Reserve type service which is one weekend a month, and then 2 weeks for yearly or more training. My brother has done this for decades and there is not at home after-hours work. It's all done at the military station.
Thank you for explaining about the military. because I can’t imagine making 36 working full-time as a military person. I know people who make more money working in McDonald’s.
$36k is about $18/hr for a full time job. This is also about how much my son makes working for Chick-fil-A. What's going on here? If they qualify for WIC, sure, get it, but that's very temporary and solves nothing. You either work for more money or work more....or both at this point. I never worked 40 hours a week until......maybe my 40s and then often more than that. Why? I have a family to support and that's more important that calling it a day at 3:30p.

Husband is in the Gaurd/Reserve. It's 1 weekend a month, 2 weeks a year at most. I've been in the Guard and Reserve 15+ years and saying "military stuff" after work is a cop out. The military member does not do "military stuff" outside the 1 weekend a month, or 2 weeks a year Sometimes booking an airline ticket online or travel voucher online at home on a computer which takes at most 30 minutes.
That’s what I just was mentioning! I was active duty military as well so to sit there and hear someone say they’re gone 1 weekend a month and they “do military stuff” after work made zero sense to me.
I used to get second and third jobs. Never gave up. And one point I would like to add is that there is self-esteem in doing it yourself. This is something these people don't get.
This is very low income for a family of 4. Their federal tax obligation would be $0 so if they check their withholding, could have more money monthly. I see it a lot with the lower income people that will claim single and 0 to have maximum amount witheld so they can get a big refund. I had a friend adjust their withholding by explaining how taxes work with standard deduction and how much tax they should be accounted for and basically gave them an extra 400 per month and still got a 3k refund with having a family of 3 kids.
These two are so great together as host. Both been in the trenches of debt, gotvthe give it ro you straight approach like Dave, very fun and smart people 🎉
When they suggested her getting a night job she was real quiet. This family has many options of getting themselves out of their situation but they’d rather be comfortable than do the work
" we buy only what we need" is VERY subjective...you dont "need" any desserts or any snacks...if you have kids you buy snacks and sweets lol thats wasted money just sayin' you want to enjoy life but not waste money its super specific to each family and persons idea of whats necessary and whats not...one person will only drink water another will spend $20 a day on soda for their kids becasue they want it...At the end of the day VERY few people are willing to give up enough of their life luxuries to get out of debt faster...and thats ok thats your choice..
He's in the reserves. 7-3:30 is a great schedule for figuring out an additional job. Leaves your weekends and evenings open to slot in another 12-15 hours a week
You can stay home with your kids--which I think is VERY important--and bring in income by working from home. I ran a home daycare when our son was small because that's what worked best at that time. When he was older and in school, I started the business I am still running today, 27 years later. I took the skills I already had in office support and transcription and made a business out of it. I think if you want it badly enough, you can stay home with the kids and make money. My husband supported me all the way.
If you need government assistance, that’s fine. If you don’t want to work outside of the house, just admit that. Don’t say “I’m not a natural salesperson, so that’s not an option. And “I don’t know how to work in customer service, because I’ve never done that either.”
Stay at home wives could always do in home daycare for a child or 2 to earn extra income and people would love to have their kids at a home setting rather than a "daycare".

WIC is different than food stamps (SNAP). Income can be higher for WIC than with SNAP. WIC programs should have been applied while you were pregnant the first time. WIC pays for milk, cereal, peanut buitters, beans and jiuce. SNAP allows you to get any food item.
What I heard in this call was laziness. I am a military retiree, and we started with no rank and two children. We chose for my wife to not work as well, but I worked two jobs, went to school, and mowed lawns on the weekend. Fast forward 27yrs, I am less than 6yrs away from my second retirement and will be done with the workforce, making 81k at 57. I have been following Dave for over 14yrs and he has never let me down.
Oh yeah, much of the time in the early years, we only had one car (it can be done). We almost always paid cash for vehicles but always lived within our means.
Jade is so articulate and delivers solutions with such a soft blow. Problem is she doesn’t see herself having time to do more than be a mother. Children are exhausting! It’s mentally hard to get motivated and be able to manage kids and a job. In this situation husband the one that needs to find ways to make more money. He needs to manage his military time better so he can feed his family and do side hustles
Literally one hour ago, i went for hair cut and the lady that cut my hair told me that she sells cookies on the side and on the superbowl weekend, she sold 50 dozen cookies. That is crazy. She doesn’t even have any professional equipment, she has regular ass oven in which she can only bake 12 cookies at a time. Imagine charging atleast 20 bucks per dozen, she made one thousand minimum just over the weekend with her side hustle. Coming back the caller lady, raising two little kids is no joke because i also have two kids but even if she stays home there is so much that she can do just as a side hustle like baking cookies, cakes, decorating events, incall make up artist, virtual assistant, and the list goes on. But looks like her mind is made up.
What she is doing is technically illegal. You have to have commercial kitchen, and so on to cook for sale to the public. How do I know? They shut down the local church who was feeding homeless by cooking at home and assembling at the church. But good on your hair person for just getting after it.
Another example of bringing kids into the world when you are not ready and can't afford them. His lower income doesn't appear to be a new or recent thing, yet 2 years and 9 months ago you did the deed to have your first child and as if that wasn't bad enough about a year ago you did the deed again and now child number two. People, people get your affairs in order including your finances before you have children.
My husband is having a hard time finding a clock in job. He is door dashing on the meantime. He does that when I come home from work. He stays home with our baby while I work. I stay home when he door dashes. You can make money. Money is out there. I live in Clemson SC. She can bank it in Greenville with door dashing.
"And then he does military stuff." 🙄 He's a reservist: one weekend a month, plus two weeks a year for annual training. He does not have any "military stuff" every night. My senior year in high school, I was an Army Reservist. School full time, plus a job. Jade is right. Sounds like Sarah and hubby do not want to make the extra income. If Sarah is home all day with the kids, once hubby is home, he can watch the kids and she can go deliver pizza or do UberEats for 4 hours.
At 2 months postpartum I was still breasfeeding our twins every 3 hours around the clock, and getting a disjointed 5 hours of sleep per 24 hours (no more than 1.5-2 hours at a time so idk if that’s the greatest thing for her to be going back to work right now but the husband can DEFINITELY find time to bring in an extra $200/month which is likely about what WIC would provide. I mean, really. It’s not like WIC would give them $2000/month.
The only thing I have to say is do not get married or have children if you are not in a position (financially) to do so. Wait or stay single. Abstain. Simple. It isn't fair to the children. All this hurrying to marry.
@@NoWaySmokey8889Nah I think it’s a realistic mindset. I was raised by two parents who were poor and it was not good. And here in California if you make $30k you’ll probably be homeless because you can’t qualify for any apartment making that little. Everyone missed what his "military career" actually is. He's in either the National Guard or the reserves, which is why he goes away once a month and why he's still working a regular job. The "military stuff" he does after work probably has to do with his job in the reserves but I doubt it's anything that would keep him getting a second job. It works great as an excuse, though
There is nothing wrong with signing up for WIC for the interim. It is not Welfare. Maybe getting help with formula will give them that extra money to start paying off bills. Now, that doesn't mean extra jobs are not in the plan, selling the car and downgrading for awhile. It sounds like the husband is in the reserves. He can get a second job and by law, companies cannot fire a military soldier for taking leave for weekends and training. They have some big decisions to make. Good luck!!
When he gets home from work, he’s doing military stuff but he’s either in the reserves of the National Guard and he’s only doing it once a month. She’s just making excuse after excuse after excuse and that’s the reason why they’re in the position that they’re in in the first place.

I think from what she's insinuating he may be trying to get OCS...officer candidate school. The only way to go from 36k to 90k. Jmo...retired warrant.
He’s probably trying to become an officer
@@GritandGrace33if he had a degree which is necessary for OCS he would be a Specialist. $36k is not E4 pay. My guess is like others have said, he’s Guard or Reserves. Notice she said weekends and sometime longer like a month. As a former Guard member, that sounds like drills and Annual Training.

Yes i agree.. by far the best Ramsey personality. Also, she seems genuine. It’s hard to hear Rachel Ramsey talking about taking any kind of shit job you can get your hands on to support your family when you know 100% she’s never had to come anywhere close to that in her entire life.
And she’s not afraid to get sick of listening to somebody and telling them they’re being a turd
Jade thank you for not sugar coding it. The caller had no desire to change anything! It was infuriating! 32k is NOT enough money to have 2 kids and live a decent life, changes need to be made!
I love Jade. She knows when to be sympathetic and when to show no mercy.
This was gooood live. Jade gave her the business as she should have

100% this is what working class and middle class women have always done. She chose to have children with a lazy man of top of it so she really needs to get working. The entitlement of her is nauseating. No women listening are going to have sympathy for her as we know she's just entitled.
@monicadhenderson8670
Please what type of stay- at- home jobs did you do?
LOL 😂, 2 working able-bodied people and you suggest that they FREELOADOFFOFWORKINGPEOPLE?

Jade speaking straight facts!!
this was SUCH a good call.. really a super strong push back on someone that doesnt want to do anything besides one low paid 40 hour job a week for two people. even if they drove uber a couple of hours every night.. even TWO hours... to bring in another $50 per day..

My husband worked Monday-Friday 8 to 4:30. I worked weekends, holidays and night shifts when he was home to care for our 2 kids. It was tough, but we were determined not to have to rely on any government programs.
He's in the military 🪖 I think they should get WIC until he can make some more income.
"I have tried nothing and I'm completely out of ideas aside from the government paying for my children"
Channeling Ned Flanders' parents in an old Simpsons episode. "We've tried nothing, doc, and we're all out of ideas." That's exactly the mindset of so many people in our society. Just laziness, lack of drive, lack of grit, lack of getting uncomfortable to change their situation.

I'm glad Jade went straight to the point. Because that woman and her husband did not want to work. her husband and her can tag team do UberEats/Doordash or Lyft/Uber. be uncomfortable now so you can be comfortable later.

Glad to hear some of this. I have family members who was to stay broke because no solution will work.
Thank you Jade, this was awesome!
That’s awesome 😅
If you need government assistance, that’s fine. If you don’t want to work outside of the house, just admit that. Don’t say “I’m not a natural salesperson, so that’s not an option. And “I don’t know how to work in customer service, because I’ve never done that either.”
I would have had a lot more respect for her if she just admitted it. 😊

Then stop having children 😒 🙄
I think I’m the only one that actively waits for that “hang up button push”
Baby sitting 1 extra child could bring $500 or more a month.. 2=1,000$
if shes only baking 12 at a time shes doing it wrong
depends on state?@@semosancus5506
Go Jade!!!

Reservists don't have to do "military stuff" every day after work.
"And then he does military stuff." 🙄
He's a reservist: one weekend a month, plus two weeks a year for annual training.
We love you, Jade!
The only thing I have to say is do not get married or have children if you are not in a position (financially) to do so. Wait or stay single. Abstain. Simple. It isn't fair to the children. All this hurrying to marry.
It is completely irresponsible to have children with that income. Completely irresponsible.
This is a eugenic mindset. Even Dave said you can live well on 30k a year if you don’t have debt and live within your means
@@NoWaySmokey8889Nah I think it’s a realistic mindset. I was raised by two parents who were poor and it was not good. My childhood memories are of poverty and never having enough, even not enough food. It was depressing and felt hopeless. In this day and age, $30k is almost nothing. And here in California if you make $30k you’ll probably be homeless because you can’t qualify for any apartment making that little. Even in a cheap state I don’t think you could say you’re living “well” on 30k. That’s just barely scraping by.
@@ayo_k32nope. If you have no debt and you make choices to live within those means, you can live fine. Will you own a home? No. You’ll rent. I live in a red state in the south. Love the longer clips.
Everyone missed what his "military career" actually is.
He's in either the National Guard or the reserves, which is why he goes away once a month and why he's still working a regular job.
The "military stuff" he does after work probably has to do with his job in the reserves but I doubt it's anything that would keep him getting a second job.

Jade is absolutely right. The answer is straightforward. But she is just unwilling to do it.

Good on ya, Jade! Great advice and great delivery.
Also, income qualifier for "WIC" is $ 50 k for a family of 4. So get the WIC and get your ass a job. Get rid of the car.
