The construction company is so large they also formed a financial arm where they can subsidize, or prepay the financial company you have to get your loan through, to lower your interest rate. So the construction company has realized they must give up some of their profit in order to find a buyer these days, but they still don't want to just lower their sales price enough to equal your savings, as that will piss off the neighbors who bougt recently and would then realize they had to pay a higher sales price and be angry. Plus it is harder to have it advertized later to future buyers that they are raising their prices back up later, if they were to lower them now.
