I have a jewelry box similar and my uncle brought it back to my mother after the Korean War. My music box stopped working but my husband oiled it and now it plays. I loved it as a child and love it as an adult.
I am glad you got the jewelry box. To clean the felt, use the sticky side of masking tape and an old tooth brush to get into the corners. I am jealous. 😊
OH MY! Now I need to buy those hahahah. I saw one I thought was a pretty dish but it was an ash tray- so I told myself no. AH I should have bought it for that! hahah. :)
Lolz Lelz , Said the same thing too myself the minute I heard Sue make " Chop Sticks ", comment. All men that do not smoke have know this forever or at least since coins ,pockets and ash tray where invented.
OMG, the Narnia map just made so envious of your son. 10-year-old me would have moved mountains for that! 😍 (Heck, 36-year-old me to, to be honest... 😂)
You should totally do a video on Sue, her schoolhouse, her stove, and how she knows about so many diverse types of vintage/antiques. I also want to know how you got involved in and knowledgeable about antiquing.
I absolutely love watching all your vids. I've been thrift/garage/kerb picking since I can remember. I repurpose/build/restore furniture but now because of you I've decided to get into decor and quite possibly start my own Etsy store. I'm learning so much from you. Thank you xx
I have a jewellery box similar to that, it's just the centre part without the side drawers. It's so strange being in the UK and seeing your stuff in an American thrift store.
It’s the hi lite of my day the smiles on both Jocelyn and Sues bright smiles as they look and find wonderful treasures I look forward to yalls expledions each week keep up the good work y’all and make sure the Starbucks keep flowin too.
Jocelyn you and Sue remind me of my sister and I. My sister was 10 years older than me. She and I were always out shopping at antique dealers in Mt Dora, FL. And all over Fl. She was collecting Blue Willow and Blue Ridge dishes in the 80s. We had so much fun together. She past away 2 years ago and I’m glad of every moment I had with her. My Sister was a art major and Sue sounds just like her. When you to addressed those horrid dolls and kitten collector plates I just had to laugh. You guys felt the same way we did. Thank you both for bringing some joy to my day. I love you both.
I’m living vicariously through you ladies. I’ve banned myself from buying anything at thrift stores, the ReStore, discount outlets and yard sales until my whole house and garage are clutter free. I sure miss the thrill of the hunt!
"Aggravation" was one of my go-to board games as a kid----never knew there was a SPLIT LEVEL edition! Good luck with your sales ~ fun to sip my coffee and have a relaxing start to a rainy day over here in Ohio.
I was in homegoods the other day and an old lady approached me asking if I knew where she could find ashtrays. She had been looking everywhere. I told her you won’t find them on store shelves anymore but to try the local goodwill. 😊
Nippon, YES!!! My Dad used to talk about it frequently but haven't looked at it in years. Found a Japanese ginger jar in my local thrift store but wasn't sure how to sell it because I just don't know much about it. I so wish you ladies were shopping with me. There are so many thrift stores in my area and even a Goodwill by the pound store in Nashville. An addict rescuer's heaven/nightmare. 😄😆
I once found a 1970's lite bright complete with the old original pegs, peg boards, box, instructions and it worked, at a goodwill buy the pound. I only paid $.99 for it and flipped it for $75.00 back when I used to sell on ebay. If you guys have a buy the pound around you, I'd suggest hitting it up, you can find some great vintage things there.
My Dad sent me a similar beautiful jewelry box in 1968 when he was in Vietnam. The soldiers were able to order things APO and have it sent home. I still have it :-)
Always fun. Since watching your videos, I'm now going to the goodwill and finding things. Thanks for the tip to look at the back of the shelves. I think many people don't, so that's where some treasures hide.
I have a smaller jewelry box like that from Okinawa. From the latter 60’s early 70’s. I wish I had a special friend like Sue to go thrifting sometimes. Always cherish your friendship. Good haul.
I remember getting the aggregation game once as a Christmas present, I never even tried to learn how to play it, however, I think that it would be awesome to have now, can't hardly wait for the next video, I am absolutely hooked on the Crazy Lamp Lady channel!
The chinese jewelry box is from the late 1960-early 1970's had an obsession with that type in jr. high and high school, BET there are others that still do. I still have 1 of them in storage. You 2 in a vid, sue in vintage jewelry, finding good stuff. Great start to a morning. That ash tray would make a great spoon rest in the kitchen by the way
Always fun to see what You and Sue find, and you never disappoint. That old fruit box reminds me of the huge stack of them that my brother in-law has in the barn out on his pear orchard. They have been used by the family for three generations, and are still in use, but boy would I like to get my hands on a few of them. I love old wood boxes like that. Glad to you found a few good things, which always beats nothing at all.
Cool find!!! the jewelry box 💍⛩ I had the almost, the exact same one in the 7os when I was a teen, my had red lining and of course a little different painting...My sister who was 10 years older than me got it as gift from a boyfriend who was in the military 1960s.......
I’m collecting those old games from my childhood to play with my grandson. Just picked up vintage Battleship ($1.50) a few weeks ago. As always I enjoy thrifting with you ladies.
Thank you for all you do. I look forward to seeing your videos with Sue every week, I learn so much from both of you. Also, I’m glad you got the jewelry box. It’s a beautiful piece!
Just binging your videos lol. I have a jewelry box similar to that. Different design on it. It belonged to my great grandma. My great uncle set it aside for me when she passed. I love it.
I’ve had an Asian music box just like that since i was 5. I’m 45 now. It belonged to my grandmother before that ( not sure for how long). Mine has long been broken but still a treasure 😃
Your intro is the best on RUclips! Looks like a true TV SHOW! Love your haircut and you are just so beautiful. Love you and I wish my thrift store were like yours. I went into my goodwill after watching your videos and just junk. No hidden treasures and I think I have a eye to find things.
I so wish our thrift stores here in Hickory NC has this much stuff to choose from. They are so small and have junk most of the time. Happy for you to have so much to choose from.
The pink Swan!!!!!!!!!!😱 Omgosh, I can't continue watching, you're possibly ignoring the pink Swan hand towel holder!!! (At least that's how my Grannyma used hers! Everyone who went into her bathroom came out commenting how much they loved her Swan.)🤗🧡
My grandfather was stationed in Japan with the Navy back in the 50s and he bought and brought home a jewelry/music box identical too that box in this video. No joke. The box is still in the family. Ours has red material lining it instead of blue, and ours has a picture painted on the mirror inside and the music still plays. My older brother has the box. I always hated that it wasnt left too me lol
I grew up with my mom having that jewelry box on her dresser. Sailboat sails were inlay abalone ....in my eyes it was magical since there seemed to be movement in the sails.
Tiki collector here. Yay! One dollar! Good find. Look for Orchids of Hawaii on bottom, but they were made in Japan. Those are the ones from the 50-70s era. Tiki Farm is a "now" producer and they are highly sought after, since they do limited runs. Love your vids!
I literally went to a board game cafe/bar in town today for a work thing and they used vintage games on the wall for decor. I was cool place, all mid-century modern decor.
It was nice to see Sue and you shopping this morning. Well not every day is a home run. Too bad for you. But l did like the Spoongebob T-SHIRT because it had a cat on it, but it would be too small. Have you ever gone to the Good Will Bins? It is where you pay by the pound. I am sure the next trip will have wonderful lamps and China worth your resale value shopping! The piece at 15:14 looks like a McCoy pink stripe utensil holder. If it has the thicker edge at the top its a canister missing its lid. Love all the treasures you find. Have a beautiful day :)
Awesome finds! I love old games myself, and I am very picky on the types, got to say I have never tried that game. Love sharing in your fun!
I did too found some good stuff at thrift stores over the years, wedgewood, early Blenko, original artwork, etc. but I like jewelry better. I find far more expensive things, precious metals, stone, designer, watches, collectibles. They are easier to sell, and they take less space.

Sue’s fist bump. 😂 I love her.
I love watching you two!! You are so fun! I love hearing Sue’s insight and her enthusiasm!!
I would say that jewelry box is from the early 70's. My mom had one that she got in Okinawa! We lived in Okinawa from 1970-1973. 😍
Always fun. Since watching your videos, I'm now going to the goodwill and finding things. Thanks for the tip to look at the back of the shelves. I think many people don't, so that's where some treasures hide.

Aww... loved that brown bunny planter! Yikes (above the fish plate)

I love that Asian inlay box I'd have a hard time selling that despite the music box not working
I grew up with my mom having that jewelry box on her dresser. Sailboat sails were inlay abalone ....in my eyes it was magical since there seemed to be movement in the sails.
A lot of artist use the vintage ashtrays for paintbrush holders! 😊
Love that jewelry box!
My grandfather brought one back from Japan back in the 50s when he was stationed there... it was left to my brother not me 😐
I saw your stove, Sue, in another video and I was going to let you know how much I love love love love loved it!!
I love Sue’s voice. I could listen to her all day.
Supremely thoughtful gift for Ashton. I have missed seeing Sue's stove. Which previous video is it in?
MaryE Jardine I’d like to see it.

I know!! I want to see too! :)
It’s in the video where they do the lamp tutorial! It’s beautiful

Thanks for the tips - we'll keep our eyes open for those manufacturers. :-)
I love funky, vintage ashtrays. I bought a McCoy one today. Love the colors of the one you got.
I need to see Sue's stove.
I love the chemistry between you two! Sue is the voice of reason! I was wondering if you ever go to yard sales, maybe take us along for the ride?
I loved the little French porcelain piece - he is so pretty & fancy.
I literally went to a board game cafe/bar in town today for a work thing and they used vintage games on the wall for decor. I was cool place, all mid-century modern decor.
That was probably an orchard crate. They are extremely sturdy. I used 2 upside down to hold a 20 gal. aquarium, for years.
I have that exact same jewelry box I got it when I was a little girl in the '80s from my dad's friend who went to China!
I have blue fish plates that we bought at Pier One 20 years ago or so.

I adore Sue's strong Mid Atlantic accent, that's were I grew up (Lower Bucks Country, PA) and it makes me long for home as I'm stuck in the deep south.
Her tone is exquisite too! Does she sing or do radio/TV/voiceover work?
Love your videos, you've all taught me so much!
Keep 'em a comin' and I'll keep on a watchin' (my BAD impression of the southern dialect) 😂
I truly love both of you as fellow human beings and you're both treasures 😊 I just found your videos this week an I really enjoy them as another "junk" lover. So thank you 😊💚
The piece at 15:14 looks like a McCoy pink stripe utensil holder. If it has the thicker edge at the top its a canister missing its lid. Love all the treasures you find. Have a beautiful day :)
That jewelry box looks a lot like one my dad brought home from Japan.
@@nikkig4606 it was Mid century.
Awesome finds! I love old games myself, and I am very picky on the types, got to say I have never tried that game. I have been searching for a old Pennsylvania game Dutch Blitz , it is a hard one to find. Awesome you found a beautiful jewelery box! When I saw the ashtray , such a cool design btw, my first thought was of chopsticks and that ginger dip in the center with sushi rolls! ☺
Porcelain pieces reminded me for old sticks. Use to play that game with my kids. It will sell even though box kinda aged ss. Just understand value. Enjoy & be safe.
Tell Sue I love her 'Steampunk' inspired necklace! Very cool!
Found the baby to the mother of pearl purse you got the other day. This one was about a 5x6 inch with the same handle as the one you bought...so fun
Ucagco is that boy on the vase piece I think. I looked at a pair very similar a couple weeks ago. 😊
I love vintage Japan pieces too! So fun to watch you!
Vintage Japan Hand Painted Lacquer Music Box, My dad brought one home for my Mom when he came home from the Korean Conflict in the early 1950s. And I have it now.
I really like the ashtray!! The box with the inlay at the end of the goodwill originally held decks of cards i think.
You both make a great team. Would love to see Sue's stove.
Betty Alaniz. Yes! I need the video on Sue’s stove!
@@ozzwood There isn't one yet Sue talked about it, i also am waiting to see that Stove.
Replacement "musical" mechanisms are cheap and easy to change. And you can pick the tune you want!
Love the Rush in the background. Some primo thrifting music!
You and Sue are so fun to watch.!!!!!
Sue KNOWS her STUFF! Sue was ON POINT with EVERYTHING ESPECIALLY THE BARBIES! #GoSue
You know that Uncle Si Chia Pet, Well infact it's his birthday today so Happy Birthday uncle Si, lol.
I had a couple of those black enameled music boxes when I was a teenager in the '60s...well, I still have them in the basement packed away somewhere. lol Mine were just simple boxes that had ballerinas that twirled to the music, but no drawers. I really like that fancy one with so many different compartments! I think maybe you can switch out the music boxes with another one that works. Seems like I may have done that with one of mine years ago. Check to see if the music box has screws attaching it. If so, look for an old music box at GW or a yard sale that is cheap but the music box still works, or I think you can buy the replacement ones at hobby stores or online. (That is only if it has screws attaching the box instead of rivets. Hate those rivets, lol). Loved the video! You guys have a lot of fun whether you find anything or not, don't you?! Love sharing in your fun!
Yup. It's official. Crazy Mug Lady 😂 Sweet Melissa (granddaughter) called it LOL
I went to a big church rummage/missions sale and there were , LITERALLY 25 boxes of mugs to be had! ! I thought of Jocelyn!
I did too found some good stuff at thrift stores over the years, wedgewood, early Blenko, original artwork, etc. but I like jewelry better. I find far more expensive things, precious metals, stone, designer, watches, collectibles. They are easier to sell, and they take less space.

I would have seriously bought that shade and took the brown fringe off and put those old school tassels from the 1920s era. Keep it for myself. The other day I was watching Back to the future and all the lamps Doc Brown had , I instantly thought of Jocelyn! 😂
I have a similar laquered jewelry box from the 70's though it is much smaller. My mother got it for me on sale (the ballerina up and left).
Always love my SUE video's ! Look forward to them every week , # 1 fan , and YES I am from Texas .
@15:30 You missed the two Raffiaware Rattan Weave Melmac Cups.
Good eye.
