- Volkswagen claims that Passat 2.0 TDI (140 kW / 190 HP) DSG uses 4.1-4.2 l/100 km (68.9 mpg UK, 57.4 mpg US) in extra-urban conditions. With 66 liters fuel tank it should allow to drive ~1600 km (~1000 miles) without refueling. I decided to check it! I prepared ~1600 km trip on Poland's roads: from Warsaw to Baltic sea (Gdynia) to Poland's mountains (Zakopane) and come back to Warsaw. Finally I drove 1605 km (997 miles) and still have 180 km (112 miles) range! My total average fuel consumption was: 3.9 l/100 km (72.4 mpg UK, 60.3 mpg US).

My Dacia Sandero fuel tank is 51,5 L and PETROL / gasoline 1,0 L NO turbo ; 53 kW/ 71 HP 108 Nm torque enigne with 5 speed manual gear box ..I make new eco record to get 5,03 L/100km / 46,7 US mpg / 56,16 UK mpg= with 47,5 liters E98 I drove 944 km / 587 miles. My car was fully equpment ( spar wheel ,hydarulic jack etc. = not empty mass 960kg but realmass 1.160 kg with me and fuel ) .

Absolutely crazy, i bought my 2016 passat alltrack 190 tdi ds6 in november. So far my record 5.7/100km cant wait for warmer weather so i can try to get it even lower
You have to remember what speed you are going at. In this video from what I can see, he didn't go above 90km/t even on the highways. There is a big difference in fuel consumtion going 120km/t - 130km/t vs 80 - 90km/t
Make a note of the differences: AWD vs FWD and BREAK vs SEDAN. The fuel consumption is slightly different. Not by much..but different
I’m not a diesel hater at all, but man. 5.7L/100 km is not efficiënt for a modern petrol car at all, let alone a diesel. My Polo on petrol needs only 4.5L on average. My record is 3.9L/100 km doing only highway driving and hyper miling and that was real world fuel consumption calculated by the Fuelio app!

@@emildyulgerov A sedan is supposed to have better aerodynamic properties than a hatchback and should be better geared for highway driving. The Polo is small but not “incredibly” small, it’s the same size as a Golf 4 used to be. I use the car to drive 90% highway all of the time. My next car will be a sedan, probably a BMW 5 series.

Great work. I am fascinated by fuel economy so this was very interesting. It's also why I won't be giving up my BMW 320D any time soon. 800 miles from it's 61l tank is something no petrol engined or petrol/EV hybrid could come close to.

800 miles x 1.6 = 1280 km.
1280 : 100 x 4.76 = 60.9.
So your fuel consumption to get to 61 litres is roughly 4.76L/100 km.
Now let’s compare that to my VW Polo 1.0 TSI on Petrol. I know it needs about 4.5L/100 km on average. 880 km, or 550 miles of range on a full tank of 40 litres of petrol :)
@@WarningSign1000 Okay, but your Polo is less heavy, the stock tires I guess not as wide as a 320D's stock tires, and maybe the Polo has better aerodynamics. The 1.0TSI is a very good engine, with very good fuel economy in city, and in the 70-90km/h range but if you go on a motorway with 130km/h, a diesel engine will be always eat less than a petrol engine. So for long distances the diesel is the best in my opinion. It's sad that the EU try to kill it..
I've got a Polo 6C with the 1.6TDI, and my best average was 3.7l/100km with 90-100km/h speed.

Właśnie przejechałem trasę 3130 km w E90 318i (2.0 n/a 143 PS, manual) i średnie spalanie wyszło 6.83 l/100 km, przy czym przez znaczną większość trasy jechałem drogami szybkiego ruchu, z różnymi prędkościami. Ciekawe jak Passat by wypadł gdyby jechał 120-130, a czasami 140-170 :)

Tak. Przerażające jest to jak ten naród jest skrzywdzony. Tutaj TRZEBA stać w kolejkach. Po wszystko, zawsze, wszędzie.
O ile bardziej byśmy cenili pracę Policji jakby stali w takich miejscach i pilnowali ruchu, edukowali tych głąbów że robią źle. A tak to o, oni przekazują te swoje wspaniałe geny i nawyki dalej i pod tym względem na drogach się niewiele zmienia.
Przy okazji na 99.9% w takim miejscu trafi się szeryf, tak to od razu okazja do wyrobienia normy mandatowej. Ale niestety widocznie są ważniejsze sprawy niż pilnowanie porządku. :c

Karać mandatami po kolei min 100-200 zł, za tamowanie ruchu i przyczynianie się do tworzenia korków w mieście. Zamiast łoić na fotoradarach, to powinni się takim czymś zająć, połączyli by zajęcie dochodowe z pożytecznym.
Byłem zdziwiony, że szeryf nigdzie nie wyskoczył i nie obronił strojących 'po Bożemu' na prawym pasie.

I would love it if you could perform a similar test for Egea 130HP DCT diesel. We consumed 4.2l/100km in 650 kilometers with an average speed of 82km/h with 3 passenger + full trunk

Zakładam że przy jeździe tylko na autostradzie tylko i wyłącznie za ciężarówką można pewnie zejść do 3.5L = 2000km+
Żeby mieć 3,5 l/100 km w tym samochodzie trzeba byłoby jechać raczej w okolicach 70 km/h. Jazda za ciężarówką wcale nie musi zmniejszać oporu powietrza, a przynajmniej nie ma to miejsca jadąc w normalnej odległości

W moim 150 hp, z wyłączonym na stałe start stop, skrzynią w ustawieniu D , nie jestem w stanie zejść poniżej 4.5 l, co i tak jest dla mnie więcej, niż zadowalające.

With my VW Passat 3C Variant from 2010 with a 1.6 TDI engine (5 speed manual) I was able to push out 1400 km on 1 tank of 70 liters, with an average speed of 100 km/h on cruise control.

My Passat GTS 2017 (2.0 bitdi) does 4.5l on longer trips. It's amazing how little fuel a dual turbo 240hp car use. As I drive it now to and from work (120km) is 5.5l. I'm keeping speed at max 100km/h. If I go legal speed of 120km/h it's about 6.2l. Very good for the performance level

Eco (jest o tym informacja na wyświetlaczu), parametry samochodu są wypisane w opisie filmu. Styl jazdy: wiadomo, że oszczędny i spokojny, ale też go widać na filmie :)

Szkoda, że nie było na końcu pokazane ile faktycznie litrów weszło do baku, bo dopiero wtedy można rzetelnie policzyć to spalanie. Nie mniej jednak nie wątpię w wynik, bo 1600km na mniej niż 60l (zostało jeszcze paliwa na conajmniej 180km) samo się broni.
Uzupełniłem 63,06 litra po teście: uploads.disquscdn.com/images/43225536960939f07fe9fee88eeb3b62fcd12ae9a0d43f10054d975cf2658290.png Według komputera samochód wypalił 62,6, czyli rozminięcie wynosi mniej niż 1%
Ok it makes sense now to me. I have 2012 Jetta TDI full open exhaust delete with 170 warner turbo upgrade and tune. High flow air intake. I drove 1200 km with 53 litres Diesel

@@Szuriamb ale on nie ma adblue jest starsza konstrukcja. Ogólnie konstrukcja samochodu bardzo duże ma znaczenie bo liczą się opory. Rapid raczej w trasy nie jest zaprojektowany. Natomiast polo 1.4 diesel mojej kobiety spala bez oszczędzania 4 l. Mój stary passat 2.0 TDI CR 2009 FWD sedan na trasie 1400km w zimę (500 km autostrad) na zimówkach palił 4.5l (dane z tankowania)

The test is done like in laboratory. You driven the car with constantly worm engine, with a low-speed of 60km/h (avg.), predominantly on rural roads like highway (constant speed, less breaking and acceleration). I saw that you where going 90km/h even on motorway. Average car user drives 130km/h on highway or even faster, uses car for shorter trips, starts with cold engine every time, wich increases consumption. Your test misleads people of thinking, that this car will have low consumption in average car driver use. WRONG! Average consumption of this car is 5-6L/100km on highway if driven predominantly on rural roads with constant speed of speed limits, even greater if you drive it mostly in urban or suburban roads.
Laboratory? Are you joking? I did not drive with cold engine? Tell me what temperature of oil you see at 10:28 or at 01:07. Is it worm engine or not? Did you saw 90 km/h on motorway? Tell me where, because I did not show it. I used only a few fragments of motorway and I was driving at speed around 120 km/h on them. The road which you may think that this is motorway it was multi lane road in a city with 80 km/h speed limit. At that time I had... 80 km/h. I think that you missed the point of this test. The target was to visit many places in Poland. Visit, not just driving between cities. It wasn't typical usage, because what is typical usage? 20 km per day or 200 km per day? Maybe for you is 20 km, but for many others is 400 km per day. How can you imagine such test driving max. 20 km per day to keep cold engine on every start? Please, make such test with maximum 20 km per day, I really want to see that. Average speed: did you see many cities on my trip? Did you see traffic on my movie? What speed should I have in such places? 150 km/h? Show me your average speed when you drive with respecting speed limits between two big cities when you have to drive for ~10-20 km in one city, ~10-20 km in the second city and 100-150 km between them. It will be no more than 70-80 km/h depends on the traffic jams in these cities even with 130-140 km/h on a motorway. Average fuel consumption on a motorway and in the city you can find on my another movie which is linked in the end of this movie. I see that you missed it...
how many liters did you refuel? is not posible to make 180km more because if you make the math you will have only 3,405 liters in the tank... (1605km/100km)*3,9(your fuel consumption)=62,595 liters of spent diesel

Dużo szukałem po internecie i znalazłem pewną informację że 2.0.tdi 150 czy 190km miały dsg 6 biegowe czy to przed czy po lifcie natomiast 2.0 tdi bibturbo 240km miał juz dsg 7 biegowe mokre sprzęgła ze względu na wysoki moment obrotowy więc uważam że to autko to cud jak tak mało pali 3,7 litra na sto km nawet gdyby miał 4 motion myślę że spaliłby Maks 4 - 4,5 litra na sto km
Wszystkie B8 z DSG i silnikiem spalinowym (nie hybrydy), od samego początku miały 7-biegową skrzynię

@@krzysztofpakua9867 Ok, sprawdziłem teraz i wychodzi na to że w początkowym etapie passat był oferowany ze skrzynią DSG 6-biegową albo 7-biegową, nie potrafię powiedzieć w którym momencie ta pierwsza przestała być oferowana dla TDI, ale w cenniku z 2017 roku już jej nie ma, ale jest dla niektórych modeli TSI.

We don't talk about driving on autobahn. Whole trip took place in 98% on secondary roads where the speed limit is set to 90 km/h or lower. Are you sure I should drive faster on such roads?

Which he provided. 90kmh is the sweet spot for that engine, and he drove it on a straight road with as little stopping as possible. In you daily life though - you'll Never get this fuel economy. Unless all you do is commute on a highway at 90kmh.
There is this german guy who drove 2000 Kilometers with his Pasat without re filling the gas tank.
You didn't watch carefully. There was many cities, jams traffic hills and mountains. How it's possible plan ideal journey at that range ? Non sense. How many times he stops also overnight and starting trip with cold engine. I can confirm only when I drive my old b6 2.0 140 hp TDI cr on distance 1400 km winter conditions on winter tires from east Poland to Sweden close to Norway border I got 4.6 average with 70% driving secondary roads witch it means also passing cities. Everything depending of your driving style and prediction of current situation on the road. Of course driving 200km/h will be much better but then it will consume 9.5.

Ależ jak najbardziej masz informacje jaka to jest wersja silnikowa :) Masz w opisie. Druga rzecz: zawsze masz pełną moc dostępną, szczególnie po użyciu kickdown. To że większy zakres głębokości wciskania pedału gazu przekłada się na stosunkowo małe dawkowanie to oczywista sprawa, ale to w zasadzie (jeśli chodzi o silnik) do tego się ogranicza. Twój wynik - zacny - ale pamiętaj że najpewniej jechałeś cały czas w ół :) Zakładam że te na morze to nie jechaliście z nad innego morza :) Mój test jest bez cakowitej różnicy w wysokości nad poziomem morza (wróciłem w to samo miejsce).

Widać, że jazda ultra dziad pro, ale zapewne było to konieczne na potrzeby wyciśnięcia max zasięgu :) Zgadzam się, że zabrakło końcowego porównania, ale z doświadczenia wiem, że na trasie przy jednostajnych prędkościach, komputer nie myli się o więcej jak o 0.1-0.2.
@@MatiKosa moj vag skoda rapid oszukiwal na maxa. Przy tankowaniu musiałem dodać 20-25% paliwa. Po wizycie w serwisie wskazania juz sa ok, ale i spalanie realne również wzrosło. Trasa z dzisiaj Szczecin Brodnica vmax 105kmh tempomat, przy wyprzedzaniu więcej, srednia z trasy 68kmh, spalanie z kompa i realne 4.8l. wg mnie powinno byc ok 0.5l mniej jak na tak maly silnik i lekkie auto.

I think that IT IS a big deal for petrol engine. I did similar test with Octavia RS iV (plug-in hybrid car) and I achieved 4,6 and still (around 70 km) part of it was made using electricity, and another thing: PHEV can drive in many situation with combustion engine off. 18% higher fuel consumption is not similar.
About avg. speed: check what kind of speed you will have on country roads with cities :) You cannot have significantly more than 60 km/h
@@1001cars Yeah, I know all of that. I get around 3L/100km with my '06 Prius but with 70km/h. That should be around 65 km/h in real.
What do you think, what will you get with some toyota vvti (non-hybrid) or with honda's vtec engines at avg speed of 60-70 km/h? It'll be around 4L/100km, MAYBE 4.5, but just maybe.

Jeśli chce się być już takim skrupulatnym to trzeba by było policzyć faktyczne przejechane kilometry z GPS, a nie z licznika. Licznik zawyża prędkość, a co za tym idzie i naliczanie przejechanych kilometrów co ostatecznie zaniża prawdziwe spalanie do zrobionego prawdziwego dystansu
