I bought a beestation last week and let me tell you its simple and easy to use! No fuss no muss and i was up and backing up all my desktops in the house within minutes!
@@farhan-app no regrets here, I'm getting used to the beestation Dropbox feature. It's so convenient to drop pictures and files and be able to use them on other desktops and laptops.

I'm not saying we don't work our butts off, but because there are 2 of us, it means we can do more and delicate the jobs in a way most solo operations can't. If one has any interest in a NAS I would highly recommend getting a NAS with removable storage. When this fails and it will fail and have no understanding about how to get it working again which is not easy. It's a waste of money you could have put money into a two bay. Under constant power it will fail in 3 to 5 years so never use it as a backup for important files. It's best use case is to swap files between computers or for short term storage of unimportant files.
RUclips hasn't been updating me of your new videos. I had to search you out to make sure you still existed! Not sure what's going on with Google doing that to you.
The lack o a SSD in the NAS isn't the real reason that the system slows down when too many people are trying to access it. NAS machines have existed for decades prior to the invention of Solid State Drives. The real issue is the speed of the hard drive itself. Probably also the computer hardware inside.

At the moment, it's only gonna be possible via SMB locally. I'm positive Synology are going to double down on BSM/BeeStation and allow things to be more streamlined eventually, as the backup and sync services it uses are build on Cloud sync and Hyper Backup (says so if you break apart the .pst file online). So, today, SMB network only. But down the line, it will definitely be easier. Plus, otherwise you can always use Synology C2 and transfer
I’ve watched your other videos on this product. What I’m still wondering (before I finish this video) is what happens if this unit is destroyed or stolen, is there another backup option, or is this beestation the only place that all your data lives?
I’m still watching the video, but my gut says, “it depends on how you use it.” If you park the one and only copy of your file on it, and it gets lost or stolen, you’re out of luck. But the same is true for any other hard drive or NAS on the market. I suspect the biggest differentiator is its easy-of-use, particularly for non-IT customers.
can users essentially create a sort of offsite backup on someone else’s station using granted space? last I looked this info wasn’t available - I’m literally asking for a friend who will be interested in this aside from my own household
@@johnnada.Yes, but I wouldn’t recommend it. You have to skillfully create a communications pathway from one user to another without compromising both party’s security. I’d recommend picking up one of these NAS units instead.
Synology has finally started to design a more advanced UI for users... This is the biggest improvement I've seen.
That LAN switch definitely needs to be on by default. I like the UI design, I hope Synology take some of the ideas for DSM 8 from BSM

They could have put in a couple of 4tb ssd drives and a 2.5tb. LAN and local file share on by default. The cost might go up. But better for a beginner

When is this coming to the US? Would definitely buy this for Mother's Day if it's available. Lot of old photos I could load here for my parents
If this was 8tb I would have bought it and happily not had the hassle of spending so much time learning how to use a NAS

I f I buy this and use it for a while, how hard/easy is it to transfer data when I later decide to upgrade to a multi-bay Synology NAS?
