Lots to learn here. Thanks for sharing.
Have two brands of LVF in my home. Both are high quality. But, I LOVE my Core-tec floor that has bevels. It actually looks like farmhouse planking. Best thing I ever did was getting rid of wall-to-wall carpets. SO easy.
I love the Coretec flooring as well. Very nice product and the specs are good as well. I agree it is so much easier to clean than carpet! Glad to see you are happy with your floors. 😄
We are looking to buy LVP flooring and have shopped around. I was recently at Floor & Decor looking at NuCore 22 mil wear layer and 8mm thickness-$4.29 sq ft. They also carry Optimax which is above NuCore they say. Looking at 7 mm with "Techtanium" wear layer at $4.19 sq ft. Do you have any info on Optimax vs NuCore brand? Thanks, love your videos.
Hi Carol,
NuCore is a very good brand and 22 mil is excellent! I also like the 8mm thickness. I would prefer the NuCore in this case. I do not carry the brand but I am familiar with it and it is an excellent product. I have also seen a couple of NuCore floors installed and they are very solid.
Thank you for your kindness.
Mike
I'm a flooring dealer I sell southwind flooring an love it.. I kinda disagree with him I put 4.5 mil an 1 mil pad a spc stone core in out show room an my own house.. what you want to look for is a real warranty. An can your supplier you buy from get hole of floor rep if there is a problem ever with your floor
Mannington is one of the best.
I'm about to get a TAS floor...not sure how that ranks up. 20 mil wear layer, 4.5thickness with spc core
Thanks for reaching out friend. 20 mil wear layer is great! 4.5 thick is ok... I would put an additional .6 mm moisture barrier underneath this product if you decide to purchase it. This will give your floor just a little bit more stability and help with sound. You are allowed to go up to 2 mm thick with total underlay.
What are your thoughts about the aquaguard performance? Comparable to the Mohawk and pergo ?
Thank you for your comment SAAS' Mom. I believe aquaguard is a water proof laminate. I think they sell that brand at Floor & Decor. I like the LVP products better because and SPC (lvp) product has a solid polymer core. There is no way that this product will swell. The water proof laminate however is still made up of HDF (high density fiber board) which will swell over time even if it is sealed. The only advantage of the aquaguard product is its thickness in my opinion. Most LVP products range from 4mm - 8mm where as the aquaguard products are mostly 12mm. The thickness helps in the area of less floor prep. I would just go over the warranties with the salesperson with a fine tooth comb and get everything in writing on your receipt before purchasing that floor if you like it. Thanks again for reaching out and good luck with your new floor!
Would you happen to know how The Mission Collection is. We are going for the Traildust design under Cortona Plus. Its an SPC
Im not familiar with that collection. I would just make sure that its at least 6 mm total thickness and 20 mil wearlayer for hardness. SPC is good.
We purchased some NuCore flooring (from Floor & Decor, which you might consider the Harbor Freight of flooring). It is the high-end, solid core product. It is 6mm, so not as thick as the products you mentioned in your video, but it is an extremely hard product. Scratching it is virtually impossible. Digging in with a cut piece of 12 awg wire, a key, a nail, only leaves a light mark that you can actually wipe away with a damp cloth. Installing some on our stairs, I ruined a Diablo 50-tooth blade doing the long rip cuts. To me, it's a pretty hardy product.
What is your opinion of the NuCore line?
Also, the instructions for the floor say to NOT put their product under any fixed object, like kitchen cabinets. What do you suppose the long term durability of the NuCore product would be with a refrigerator or stove on it? They make no specific mention of appliances, just the general term, "fixed" objects.
Hi friend. Thank you for your response. NuCore is actually an excellent product! I highly recommend NuCore! The only reason I didnt mention this product is because I do not carry the line. You will be in good shape with your floor. The reason you cannot install the NuCore or any floating floor for that matter underneath cabinets is because it will still expand and contract. If the cabinets are shot in on top not allowing your floating floor to move then your will get buckling because it has no where to go. If you were to install tile that is adhered to the floor and does not expand and contract that is a floor that you can install cabinets on top of permanently with out problems. You are a pleasure and I appreciate your questions and your tuning in. Thanks again
Hi Mike, l live in the UK 🇬🇧. What UK brands are good? I’m looking to get LVF, Vinyl, laminate flooring for my living room and passage. There is soo much choice it’s overwhelming. Would really appreciate your advice.
Hi Mango
Thank you for reaching out.
Im not familiar with the UK brands but I would make sure that the specs include a 20 mil wear layer and at least 6mm thick or above. As long as your choice meets these 2 requirements you will be fine.
We have in the UK stores such as B&Q, Wickes, Homebase, Howdens that supply wooden flooring.
Thank you for replying back, will follow your advice. Keep up the good work with your RUclips channel Mike you have a fan from the UK 🇬🇧 🥳
Ive used corelexe in my home pia install. Held up well. I have a home slab on grade florida that needs flooring waterproof. I plan to seal concrete slab with kilz or similar. What floor do u recommend for this climate and waterproof?
Thank you for reaching out. I would use an SPC product that is at least 6.5 mm thick with a 20 mil wear layer. I think Coretec would be a good choice. Coretec comes with a cork backing attached to it. In your case I would add a .6 mm underlayment that protects your floor strictly for moisture. I know you are sealing the slab but you can never be too careful. I hope this information is helpful to you in your search for a new floor. I think the specifications I listed are more important than the brand name.
What is the name of this store that you are showing these products
Carpet Empire Plus
👍
which brand for lvp would be number 1 on your list for long term
Hi Tamara, My first choice would be the Paradigm Conquest series. These boards come 9”x72” and they are nice and thick. They are a 20 mil product and have a beautiful selection to choose from. Core tech and Provenza are also good brands to choose from. 😊👍
@@miketomlinsonflooring3725 can you recommend a color for contemporary home, light not dark from paradigm lvp? I am torn between estate and spice color. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you
@@sshah1311 Thank you for reaching out. I love the Estate to answer your question. Its my absolute favorite! Paradigm Conquest Series Estate the 72" lengths look absolutely stunning when installed. I have pictures of this one recently on my instagram site if you would like to check them out. Thanks again
@@miketomlinsonflooring3725 thank you for your reply. Just saw the picture on your insta. Estate looks 👍
Where did you film your video?
Lowes or Home Depot?
Carpet Empire Plus. We are a carpet store in southern California. Couple different locations.
what about prodigy shaw mxl lvp?
Thanks for your question. Shaw Mel is a great product too!
Weren’t you supposed to talk about SPC Vinyl flooring?
Yes, In this video I was covering the best brands of Luxury Vinyl Plank
Do not by this stuff. Had few planks from one of your recommended vendors that seeped something. Vendor offered no help. Getting replacement planks installed is nightmare.
I'm sorry to hear that.
