This film was a pleasant surprise! The BL undertones are definitely there (stroking a man's sword with your fan? Please...) But all that aside I actually stayed for the story, which like most Chinese fantasy, was complicated but rewarding.
I plan on making a softer edit for these two tough guys, stay tuned!

So after rewatching it they did kind of compare it to the romantic relationship between his master and the princess. In the beginning Qingming asks his master if he has anyone he would die to protect. And we all know that when he says yes hes referring to the princess. So at the end of the movie when he finally is able to have someone its Boya. Obviously this is just an interpretation and it doesnt have to be viewed in that manner.
This video itself is like an epic short movie, the music made it so magnificent and fantastic, I could watch this continuosly the whole day.

Me and my brother began watching this film for our own fun before everyone decided what film to watch. We didn't get far back then.
Now, had I just watched the film, I though they were really gay and I searched for movie edits/music videos. I quess I wasn't the only one thinking that.

There is another film with Qing Ming but not Bo Ya in the Yin-Yang Master series but it's not a bromance situation *sad face*
China script writers are very rich with story and plot. They can potray it beautifully. Too bad their cencorship tied them up... i am getting bored watching western drama.

This drama was really like no homo bro but I literally managed to finally cast this protection array cause I was that desperate to protect you. But still we're just best bros
You can definitely tell how much Qingming cares whenever he screams, "Boyaaa!!!"

Low key qinming and boya fall into each other. Unfortunately it's Chinese movie so they can't show up the love between this man.
Interestingly, it was more problematic that the story was adapted from a Japanese novel. I think they managed to show the love between them without being explicit. Obviously we still loved it haha

I watched this on Netflix because it was recommended to me I really didn’t think anything of it (too busy being in love with the pretty men maybe 😅) but it finally clicked for me when he finally did the protection spell and I gasped, I’m probably gonna rewatch this over and over again.
Not just for the bromance and pretty men tho I really loved the graphics
