What I love about this fight is how each person’s fighting style can be clearly seen. Kirei relies on his black keys to block bullets and for long range attacks, but reverts to bajiquan for close combat, while Kiritsugu relies on his Origin Bullets to kill in the first strike. But when that fails, he uses Time Accel to dodge attacks and quickly reload, keeping his distance with his arsenal of firearms and only closing the distance when he cripples his opponent. OMFG, the best season ever created. All the characters are unpredictable (even though it is known how all this will end up), the soundtrack is ridiculously great, the plot makes sense and the execution is amazing.
The servant battles in the fate stay night series are unapparelled in scale but I love when they give us a great 1 one 1 mage battle. Their powers and abilities are so interesting and vast. Kirei and Kiritsugu were some top notch masters.
Top notch masters for sure, but probably also the furthest you could get from a traditional mage compared to all the masters we've ever seen in any Holy Grail War lol.
In a world where servants have literal nukes and laser canons in the shape of swords, this two minutes fight between two humans with no reality marble or meodp bs is the most entertaining and heart wrenching.
Kirei really is a monster in hand to hand, Kiritsugu tried to stab him 21 times in this scene (unless I counted wrong) and got blocked every single time by a 1 handed 1 eye-ed Kirei
By lost ,if you mean his fist stop right in front of shirou face? If by lost you mean shirou admitted that if that hit would ha e landed he was dead. If by lost you he lost because he had no heart and died right at" plot" moment you may be correct. But even shirou says he got lucky, and should have lost.....
I think Kiritsugu vs Kayneth is pretty amazing as well - it was the first scene in Fate/Zero that really made me think "huh, I think there's something to this series after all". Tbh most servant fights are a bit disappointing, because it's basically just two superheroes fighting out with medieval weaponry, but when Kiritsugu has to defeat Kayneth, it's not just about raw power and who has the bigger, badder Noble Phantasm, but rather about cleverness (like Kiritsugu dropping his heartbeat rate and body temp to avoid Volumen Hydragyrum's probes), a trait central to being a mage. I hope Fate series had more of the master vs master scenes because they're much more interesting and nuanced.
i love fight choreography that takes into account character physique, mentality and personality. Combat situation change drastically based on repertoire of tools or which body parts are still usable. In many anime, even including other fights in Fate/Zero, characters mostly do energy beams, flashy slowmo visuals, screaming some foreign sounding name, accompanied by stock bass boost sfx. I consider this to be Ufotable's magnus opus.
The fact that I haven't seen a silent fight like this one and the start of Naruto vs Sasuke is probably what makes them so memorable. Pure unadulterated combat that isn't TOO overexaggerated can be some of the most epic fights.
This is one of the best fight scenes ever. And then the scene where Kiritsugu literally implode a whole hotel for a target is awesome in its own right at the same time funny as heck. It became a meme that december with the christmas ell melloi soundtrack.
It may not be as flashy as the fight between saber vs rider and berserker but it's really insane how these humans can fight without some legendary sword that can shoot laser beems .
At this point, I didn’t care who was right or wrong. I just knew these two were cold blooded, and they brought the most unique fights as humans, with a hint of mage powers. They became instant favorites. There was no explosion magic, just these hands, and that Glock. Great fights and characteristics for these two.
IMO Kotomine was "right" in the sense that even in "real life" we only exist because of conflict, war, conquest... and he's also one of the most perfect example of how a true villain should act. Kiritsugu was not wrong about what he said to Saber, but his goal was kinda retarded and fake. My guy over complicate things to hide the fact that he enjoys killing people and fighting
Amazing fight from both of them. The comments do good justice to explain the dynamics of the fight. Kirie landed 1 major attack, meanwhile emiya landed 3 major attacks and 1 minor kick. The last knife throw to the leg made it clear that Kirei was going for his last attack, all in nothing left. Which emiya instantly realizes. Also getting ready to finish the kill. Emiya won, he still a way to move and fight. Kirei did not. Even if their last exchange to end the fight, he wouldn’t have anything left in his arsenal. Emiya would understand and not underestimate him, obviously because Kirei is so powerful. He would have finished him off from range, if his kill shot didn’t work at final moment before ceiling collapsed.
Fate/Kaleid - Shirou: Dad? Fate/Kaleid - Kirei: I regret to tell you this, but I'm not your father.. Found it really funny when Shirou called his Father's worst enemy, "Dad" in Oath under Snow.
You did a great job of editing the fight. Love the way you took out all the unnecessary dialogue bits and some other parts and managed to make the fight more fast paced and intense because of it.
I watched this years ago, trying to understand what they were going on about while trying to comprehend fate/zero. Nowadays, I am in awe of the frenetic pacing this series was to provide while engulfed in the story of chasing the Holy Grail.
@@trackernivrig This is the first of the Fate series I watched when I commented. I already watched Fate Stay Night/Rin Route and the trilogy movie, Heaven's Feel/Sakura route.
@@trackernivrig Did you watch Zero first? For me, Heaven's Feel feels like a sequel from Zero. Saber talked about Kiriritsugu. They also talked about Sakura and Rin as sisters which they ignored in Unlimited Blade Works. Also, Kirei and Gilgamesh remember the last war. Again, UBW did not mention the last war and did not address the Matous and the relationship of Rin and Sakura. There's just some semi-hentai and heavy themes in Heaven's Feel than UBW.
I know the in-episode fight did keep cutting to other shots outside of it, but even with those accounted for the video here is shorter than it should be.
What sets this fight apart from anything else for me is the fact that they, up to this point, have never spoken or interacted with one another and yet when they square off it feels like culmination of a build up. This is extreme rarity in anime where there is always a certain level of backstory between protagonist and antagonist to make it feel "yeah, they had to fight". Their confrontation is basically "I don't understand you, die." - it's simple yet extremely profound at the same time.
Such a great fight still. Each was so wary about the other the entire series, and they still didn't know anything about each other to really prepare. Really show cased how much of a threat they were to each other.
If any of them was tactical geniuses, this fight wouldn't even happen. Kiritsugu would snipe Kirei. Kirei would fake out the death of his assassin servant and finish Kiritsugu the moment they spot him.
@@ancy1205 Yeah but Kirei wants to fight Kiritsugu personally. There is no way Kiritsugu will use a sniper in a close range combat within a room with almost no cover. Their battle is pretty much unavoidable.

Seeing the bullet change its trajectory send chills down Kiritsugu's spine because Kirei just performed a feat comparable to that of a Dead Apostle.
The second one is when Kiritsugu was launching dagger attack at 3 times greater than the speed of a normal human. Seeing Kirei effortlessly block those very fast attack once again terrified Kiritsugu.
Meanwhile, Kirei was not even surprise to see Kiritsugu move at double speed
Kirei is powerful but him showing power on the level of a DA was only because of the large number of command seals he had that bullet would have killed him if he did not reinforce himself using command seals sense his own circuits can't reinforce him to that level
This one comment sent me on a two-hour intelligence gathering binge, and I've learned quite a lot about the differing facets of the Fate universe/franchise/timelines, etc.
On the one hand: thank you for accidentally introducing me to this.
On the other hand: damn you, it's 4 AM now🤣
Kirei was surprised twice as well, once when kiritsugu survived being crush and the second when the origin bullet hit home.
@@wesleyjackson4511 If Kirei used his own circuit to reinforce himself his circuit would be busted by the origin bullet right?
@@marisakirisame8543 yeah. If they met before Kirei's father's death. Kiritsugu would won at start of the fight.

OMFG, the best season ever created. All the characters are unpredictable (even though it is known how all this will end up), the soundtrack is ridiculously great, the plot makes sense and the execution is amazing.
Lol no it isn't unless you saw this one specifically
I mean if you watched Zero first then Fate/Stay Night …
The servant battles in the fate stay night series are unapparelled in scale but I love when they give us a great 1 one 1 mage battle. Their powers and abilities are so interesting and vast. Kirei and Kiritsugu were some top notch masters.
Top notch combatant. But incredibly retard as masters.
@@ancy1205 oof
Top notch masters for sure, but probably also the furthest you could get from a traditional mage compared to all the masters we've ever seen in any Holy Grail War lol.
I wanted to rewatch the whole thing because of this scene, but I knew that it's appreciated on YT, it's been so long I have even forgot the plot a bit
In a world where servants have literal nukes and laser canons in the shape of swords, this two minutes fight between two humans with no reality marble or meodp bs is the most entertaining and heart wrenching.
And after 10 years this fight is better than many actual anime fights… just UfoGod
One of the most perfect fight scene I've ever watched in my life.
Kirei really is a monster in hand to hand, Kiritsugu tried to stab him 21 times in this scene (unless I counted wrong) and got blocked every single time by a 1 handed 1 eye-ed Kirei
And yet he lost a brawl against shirou
@@milten76 この時の綺礼が異常に強いだけ
By lost ,if you mean his fist stop right in front of shirou face? If by lost you mean shirou admitted that if that hit would ha e landed he was dead. If by lost you he lost because he had no heart and died right at" plot" moment you may be correct. But even shirou says he got lucky, and should have lost.....

the only Master vs Master fight scene I like
I think Kiritsugu vs Kayneth is pretty amazing as well - it was the first scene in Fate/Zero that really made me think "huh, I think there's something to this series after all".

Kiritsugu: so you have chosen death
Had Kirei eaten a bowl of Mapo Tofu before this fight Kiritsugu would be dead for sure
i love fight choreography that takes into account character physique, mentality and personality.
1:31 in this scene without a context u will thought that Kotomine is the main protagonist
I watched this fight on a lot of "best anime fights / top anime fights" and I always thought Kirei was the protagonist
This is how you fight. Explain in your mind, your opponent already knows how things work
近接格闘の魅力が分かる最高の戦闘シーン
What glock? He's using a Thompson Contender and a Calico M950 which is mysteriously full auto despite being a semi-auto pistol.
綺礼に消えない不完全燃焼(意味深込)を刻みつけた戦い
Fate/Kaleid - Shirou: Dad?
Fate/Kaleid - Kirei: I regret to tell you this, but I'm not your father..

Kirei regrets.
速いだけじゃなくて攻撃の重さが伝わってくる感じすごい
These two, these men. They are the peak of characters.
Eh idk, Kirei maybe but in terms of who is better written, Kiritsugu is not at the top
probably the only one who thinks this but I think kariya is a very great character as well
I love that you could see the panic on Emiya’s face when he realizes that Kotomine can keep up with him in accelerated time.
I believe there will never be a better Master battle than this one in the whole of Fate
Makes sense, since these two are individually the most lethal masters we've ever gotten in any HGW.
This feels more like a Darker than Black fight than a Fate fight and I freaking love it
The build up to this fight was monumental!!and it delivered.
You did a great job of editing the fight. Love the way you took out all the unnecessary dialogue bits and some other parts and managed to make the fight more fast paced and intense because of it.
Shame we don’t get as much of that time accel effect though lol
Do you mean monologue? Cause they literally didn't exchange a single word throughout the entire fight for it to be called a dialogue.

UNPOPULAR OPINION - this is and always will be my favourite fight from Fate/Zero
Yea, unpopular. Is not like there are hundreds of comments saying the same thing.
@@sunmal1599 ik
Everyone know this fight is iconic in the whole fate franchise. Pretty popular and loved.
I know the in-episode fight did keep cutting to other shots outside of it, but even with those accounted for the video here is shorter than it should be.
kirei: what is your pow-
kiritsugu: gun

To everyone from the future...Fate/Zero was an anime that was years ahead of its time.
One of the most unique fights in anime. No casual yelling nor conversation between the fighters. Just a battle of wits between two tactical geniuses.
@@ancy1205 To be truthful, I don't really remember . But at that time, Saber was fighting Berserker right ? There is also Gilgamesh who has been ordered/requested by Kirei to prevent anyone intervering their fight. Also the grail was almost complete, idk maybe that's why Kiritsugu went into the enemy territory so that he could take the grail.
