    I'm in the anti 'floaty bit' group...it's not just the clean up, it's having them potentially sticking to me in places I don't want them. But I love me some nice bath salts and I different salts, scents and light colorants. And I package them in in the heat sealed window pouches. For family...I do fancy glass jars with scoops that can be refilled. I use a regular iron to seal my bags and I label them BEFORE I fill them as it is easier.

    Hi I tried your bath salt with the black or deep purple himalayan salt added to it. I've found it didn't smell very nice while running the tub. It smelt like rotting eggs. I didn't know it was that at 1st as I put in several different things but now I know its definitely that as I've looked it up. Black himalayan salt has a high sulfur content which gives of a pungent egg smell. Just thought you would like to know.

    Great video, Ellen! Have you tried coloring your bath salts? I have used both color mica powder made for soap and food-grade dye (IE: for cakes, etc.), and I've found that after about 3 months on the shelf, they will start to fade and/or discolor. It's just a natural chemical reaction from the salts. Just curious if you've experienced that before or have any suggestions on how to prolong the shelf life / color.

      The poly 80 is an emulsifyer and helps everything blend together in the bath water, as well as rinse out nicely too.
      Bramble Berry has a fragrance and essential oil calculator, each one can be different so it's best to look them up.

    If you were selling the tube one, would you add a shrink wrap plastic to the top to seal it?

    Will polysorbate 20 do the same as the 80? Guess I need to research it!

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  Год назад

      There is a difference, you could use the poly 20 but it's not going to emulsify as much as the 80.

    Have you ever used essential oils in bath salts? I bought two different kind of essential oils but I've read that they need to be used with a carrier oil. I've not had much luck on figuring out the ratio, or how much I can use in bath salts or batch bombs.

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  5 месяцев назад +1

      You don't need a carrier oil for the salts, because it becomes diluted in the bath water.

      @@EllenRuthSoap thank you so much Ms Ellen! Do you know where I can find the ratio of EO to salts? This video was sooo incredibly helpful and I've save your recipe to use for my first time making bath salts. I love taking baths and after making cold process soap for so long, I'd love to branch out. 🩷

      I don't think this would hold a shape? But I haven't tried it, so I'm not sure..
