if beerus dies when all the Kai's die, why didn't he kill buu to protect himself? Supreme Kai was literally 5 seconds away from death and Beerus was taking a nap! wtf?

Who's to say he didnt? You do realize it takes time to travel from Beerus Planet to the Kaioshin world...For all we know, Whis was on his way, when the Fat Kaioshin got absorbed

that makes sense, although it makes gods of destruction sound like greedy power seeking mischiefs, when they're only doing their job and are as competent as gods of creation, or should be. i don't think any of them will destroy more than they have to, or zeno will get their asses on a silver plate.

I get what you mean, but can you really blame him? I mean it has been like 30 years since he started writting Dragonball and he has done a lot of ofther stuff since then and also gotten older. I don't blame him for not remembering every little detail, though there are certain things he shouldn't forget.

Well, tell me one writter who can remember every detail of every story he has ever written instantely. Of course he shouldn't forget everything, but he didn't really work on Dragonball from the end of the Manga until 2013 when BoG came out which was like 20 years. Do you remember everything you did 20 years ago? I bet no, if you even were alive then.
+Mad Mike makes a good point too. He was kinda forced to write the later parts off Dragonball as he originally wanted to end it after the Freezer Saga, but then went on with the Cell and finally the Buu saga because peope wanted more. And especially in the Buu saga there where times where he really had enough of it and just wanted to end it as soons as possible (that also why he didn't work on GT, he was just done for the moment). I can imagine that he doesn't remember the things he was "forced" to write that well because he doesn't nescecarely link it to good memories. And if we look at it, it's often things from the late DBZ sagas he seems to forget, so that may play a role.
It gets annoying when he starts to confuse things like SSJ2 and 3, that shouldn't happen, there I agree with you. But can you blame him for not remembering every detail after 30 years? The guy is like 60 now and has a real life as well as tons of other projects, have some mercy on him.
And maybe one last thing. If you ever read Toriyama interviews and he talks about Goku, take a good look on how he does it. There are several interviews where he talks about that from different states in his long career and he always descripes Goku nearly the same he did all the way back in the early 80es when he started writting Dragonball. I think that he remebers his main character so well even after like 30 years proves that he isn't all forgetfull, though I admit he sometimes is more than he should be.
But what is Dragon Ball without its loopholes?

Don't get me wrong. Dragon ball has never been very consistent to begin with. It's meant to be more focused on being fun and making interesting fights and I love it just the way it is. But Toriyama isn't without flaws.He's still a huge mangaka.
I just loved when after whis said that, goku is like : "So i just need to kill the Supreme Kai to beat you Lord Beerus...." AHHAHAH

My only question is if Buu is out killing Kais and he's already killed 4 out of the 5 including the most powerful of the 5 why wouldn't Beerus destroy Buu? How could Beerus and Whis not have known that Buu was killing Kais? They seem to sense plenty of other things that has taken place in Super. So I'm sure in DBZ they would have known the other Kais were destroyed. Just doesn't make sense to me.

I don't know, but Whis dosen't seems like the guy who cares to much. I mean he asked Goku if he wanted to be a god of destruction despite Beerus still being there. I think If Buu really would have killed all the Kais and therefore Beerus, Whis would just go on onto the next god of destruction as this basically is his job. It also seems like he is very familiar with Zeno and his attendand. So yeah, Zeno would probably wreck Buus shit and then recreate new Kaishins and a new god of destruction and Whis would continue being his attendand.

I hope they do clarify some of the retcons made to certain origins because I'm getting really annoyed with viewers who keep saying I'm wrong on a similar video I made. Especially with the Beerus sealing Elder Kai in the Z sword part. There's even complaints regarding my mention of Beerus being the 1 who issued the order for Freeza to destroy Planet Vegeta. I know it's sort of a confusing plot point due to mistranslations but I think DBS pretty much clarified things. And if I'm not mistaken in your interview with Chris Sabat he mentioned something along those lines when talking about the translations that were specifically made for the dub.

*I Don't know about the English sub but in English dub Episode 53 Gowasu made it clear that only one of us got to be paired with the Destroyer ,So elder kai is the one paired with beerus*

Small problem with that last theory, if Whis assumed that Future Beerus died because the Kaioshin was killed, that must mean Beerus wasn't linked to the Z Sword.
This connection between the Gods had me thinking. Whether jokingly or not, Whis once brought up the idea of making Goku a god of destruction. With the new connection between Gods, how would making someone of god of destruction even work. Would Goku suddenly be linked to the Kaioshin if he were to become a god of destruction. Would one side of the god specturm die if the other died of old age cause clearly Saiyans can die of old age. Also would dying even truly matter since beings like King Kai continue to function and do their duties even while dead. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Its simple why the god's of destruction are stronger than the Supreme Kai's because they need to be able to destroy what ever comes up against them, like someone defending their planet from getting destroyed (like Goku for instance). Theres no apparent strength needed in creating life.

You're right, perhaps Geekdom had forgotten or didn't think it was "grand" enough.
Creating small bits of matter is a bit less impressive than creating a planet. Even Piccolo is able to conjure clothes out of nothing.

The theory works pretty well I think. One thing I've been wondering is that if Whis and the other handlers of the Gods of Destruction see the kais being destroyed wouldn't they try to protect the kais in order to keep balance in the universe and ensure that their charge isn't harmed?

Here's a good theory. Since Zamasu is still only an apprentice, if Gowasu dies will the God of destruction die since Zamasu isn't a full fleged Kai yet? or will the God of destruction stay alive if Zamasu wears his earrings? (I thought of this since the last episode inferred Zamasu killing Gowasu) This may also be the reason Akira chose Universe 10 instead of 6 for Zamasus origin place.
Zamasu is a Kai from universe 10. Gowasu is a Supreme Kai. If Zamasu kills Gowasu then sacrifice himself to body jump in Goku then the God of destruction 10 dies right ?

That's assuming that Gowasu is the only ranking Kaioshin of Universe 10 (Zamasu hasn't achieved the rank yet). If Universe 7 had five Kaioshin up until 5MYA then it's possible that Universe 10 has more than just Gowasu.

Geekdom101 they should make an episode where the Grand Kai is summoned by kaioshin. It would make sense for Dai Kaio to give reports to Kibito or something.
On that note...is Kibito a kaioshin in training like Zamasu? Do we even know what Kibito is?
Kibito is also a Kaioshin. There's only one Dai Kaioshin in each universe, but there can be multiple Kaioshin in the same universe. Something like that.
I thought the Grand Kai just supervises the afterlife and the Kai's. The Kaioshin are supposed to be the actual Gods while the Kai's are more like management; but they don't really talk to each other. Just like how Kami's don't really communicate with the Kai's. It's just that they all know what to do for some reason, which is basically nothing until they need Goku. Best not to think about it too much. :)

Your theory makes perfect sense. Assuming that the Supreme Kais of the various quadrants all were the same in terms of their Universal niche before their deaths to Majin Buu, the survival of even 1 Kaioshin would still technically preserve the balance between Creation and Destruction. "Shin" (along with Old Kai and Kibito) have more than likely just had to pick up the slack in the absence of the other deceased Kais.
I believe that recent episodes of Dragon Ball Super have been eluding to the potential presence of Makaioshins, it just hasn't been explicitly revealed to us, yet.

Geekdom101 I hope you are reading this,because i have a theory.Old supreme kai is a fushion between a witch and supreme kai,but maybe in that time Beerus wasn't a god of destruction when they fused.With the fushion, the kaioshin disapper and the past God of Destruction Died.But the present kaioshin fused too, with the other guy who is a kai.Maybe when kais fuse each other then God of destrution don't die,but if a Kai and a mortal like the witch fuse the god of destruction dies too.But if the Old Kai unfuse him self the witch will be alive and the supreme kai will be dead,because the past God of Destruction is dead too.This is maybe the reason why Beerus is sealed the Old kai into the z-sword.
Geekdom, it's without a doubt that you have the best head-cannon out there. I remember hearing you on a Kanzenshuu Podcast talking with others about what you thought should have happened in Revival of F and you blew minds with your story telling. The level of which your theories actually makes sense is astounding, considering Toriyama has a knack of being lazy/forgetful (with his stories).

I've got a theory with Goku and Zeno. When Zeno gave that button to Goku, Goku nonchalontly put it in his pocket without any care. He then procceded to go to the future. What I think might happen is Goku will accidently press the button whilst fighting Black thus summoning Zeno and causing a whole load of trouble concerning the whole time travelling rules etc.
After thinking about it I came to the same conclusion as you did. I wish they would stop with all the inconsistencies though, it's getting annoying and they need to take more care with the DB lore really.
I almost said, "but old Kai is dead currently", but he was sealed before kaioshin came about, and died after kaioshin was created, so beerus wouldn't die cause there's a new kaioshin. I love this lore.
I think this is a perfect theory and it helped me a lot to understand this new concept
That makes me think that the link between the gods of destruction and creation is done mostly to stop the gods of destruction from killing the gods of creation or just destroy everything. That also makes me think that the "link" is something a god is not born with but bestowed with after take over the charge of god of destruction or kaioshin. Samasu, Gowasu, and the old Kaioshin are good examples that the kais actually train new generations of their own in order to one day one of them might inherit the role of kaioshin. That should explain why Kibito, Samasu, and the old kaioshin are of the "kaioshin" species but they are not gods of creation (the old kaioshin used to be one long time ago.)
Your theory makes sense Big D but there's still alot of unanswered questions that are causing more confusion;
1.If the Kaioshins and Gods of Destruction are a set, then how are Beerus and Champa twins ? Does that mean that the Green Kaioshin from Universe 6 and the Grand Supreme Kai who was absorbed by Majin Buu are twins also ?
2. If the Kaioshin and G.O.D. in the FT are both dead why wouldn't zeno simply appoint new replacements ?
3. If the last of the Supreme Kai's were killed, why not promote the Grand Kai to the status of Supreme Kai ?

*My Theory*
-Zamasu kills Gowasu and in turn this causes both Gowasu and the God of Destruction of Universe 10 to die. This is the only reason I can think of as to why they would reveal the connection in this episode. They are going to have to explain black goku and Zamasu's connection and this is the start.
-With both of them dead, Zamasu will now find a way to expel the evil inside of him and split it into a different being similar to what happened to Buu. His hatred for Goku is so strong that this will cause his evil to take the appearance of Goku. Black Goku is now formed. The one potara earring that Goku Black wears has to symbolize something. I'm guessing since Potaras can fuse people it may be able to separate people and this is how Goku Black forms out of Zamasu's evil/hate.
-Zamasu (pure hearted now) will be the Supreme Kai and Goku Black will be the God of Destruction.

I think that maybe in a previous age there were multiple Kais and kind of like the universe balancing itself out, a Kid Buu in each universe was born to kill 4 out of the 5 Kais. So this would be like a primordial beginning of the universe thing. Now that things have settled, there’s an order to each universe with 1 kai and hakaioshin
on a scan which appears on v jump beerus said some like "as long the kaioshin I scealled is still alive then i wouldn't have to worry"

it's been a hell of a long time since i've been this interested in ANYTHING dragonball related weather it be the movies,dragonball super, or the manga. since i picked up dragonbal super i wanna thank you geekdom for giving reviews, theoretical explanations, and analysis dude! i love watching DBS and coming to your videos nearly right after. you rock dude!
Maybe the God of Destruction is just stronger than the Kaioshin because he has to deal with resistance because obviously no one wants to be destroyed.
The Kaioshin however do not need this strength because all they have to do is create planets and life, not fight.
The biggest problem in assuming that 5 Supreme Kais are needed to balance out one God of Destruction, is that thanks to Majin Buu, there has been only one (two if you count Old Kai) Supreme Kai(s) in Universe 7 for millions of years. Which is plenty of time to correct this less than ideal situation, either by reviving Supreme Kais or appointing new ones, and no one has. Zamasu exploited this oversight by only needing to kill the one Supreme Kai in order to nullify Beerus and Whis. Beerus has not expressed an interest in getting more Supreme Kais, and you would think he would, since more of them increases his chances of not being killed. And as self-serving as he tends to be at times, I cannot believe this has not come up yet.
It sounds like a system of checks and balances. The Omni king wanted to make sure that neither the kais nor the gods of destruction overstepped their bounds and took out their counterparts, so he linked their lives. Idk, just a thought.
My little head cannon to that is that it's not all the Kais, just one who has to train for the connection to occur in them. To me that explains why Zamasu is being trained and why universe six had so many. One to hold the link and several others to protect/take up the link incase one died.

Nice theories! I honestly never heard of the person you cited for the multiple Kaioshin vs 1 Hakaioshin theory, but I too put forth a similar theory and reasoning on Super Jayain's Episode 55 review. It's nice to see similar thoughts put forth by others. Great job!

I don't like this whole connection thing to be honest. I like the idea of how the universal balance will be disturbed and broken, but having weak Kai's being killed by some random semi strong warrior will make a super ridiculously powerful God of destruction just flat out drop dead. Seems like this wasn't thought out.
I like this, i didn't even consider this when I was theorizing with my friends, the only thing that still does not make sense to me (I know the IRL reason is Toriyama hadn't created the characters yet) is if his life is tied to the Kai's why they did they not contact Whis to wake Beerus for help when Buu was murdering them, (Beerus' life literally depended on it)
Maybe they thinks it's the supreme kai but it is in fact the Grand Supreme Kai because he is still alive inside of Buu. At least if it's that it will be 1 god of creation for 1 god of destruction

But if you go back to the part when Future Trunks is fighting Dabura, Trunks says that he "received instructions from kaio-shin." This could mean Toriyama forgot about this episode, which I find unlikely. The question is how much longer after Dabura died did Black appear? Black may have killed the other kaio-shin immediately after the fight against Dabura. Since Black wears the earring and ring of the kaio-shin, Black may have been the one who instructed Trunks.
I think your right, but I think whoever is next in line to receive the title of supreme Kai get the bond between the God of destruction. So when old Kai was sealed away he was assumed he was missing so it was given to the current supreme Kai. Hence when he was killed beerus was probably killed as well..
I haven't watched the video yet, but I instantly assumed that Whis meant all the Kaioshin died. But this doesn't make sense because if this was true why didn't Beerus help the Kaioshin kill Buu? You'd think he would want to protect the Kaioshin to be safe. I guess it makes sense because if there is nobody to create, but someone destroying eventually there will be nothing left.
Just watched the video and I agree with your so called "head-cannon" although I don't think it is "head-cannon" because it isn't some argument with nothing to back it up. This is a full blown theory that is all but confirmed as it would make perfect sense. Beerus didn't want to die, so he sealed up a Kaioshin to be safe. This way he doesn't have to share his presence with someone as weak as a Kaioshin. We saw in episode 53 that he was very self-conscious of the fact that a God of Destruction had to rely on a Kaioshin as everytime the smallest mention of a Kai's power angered him. At the time I was wondering if it was because he thought that Goku might be growing powerful enough to rival him, but maybe it was because he knew that he needed the Kaioshin.
I feel like I should also say that if East Kaioshin died the balance of nature would still be out of balance as there would still be nobody creating anything as Elder Kaioshin was sealed.
this could mean good things for Gohan. since beerus sealed grand ki in the sword, if he finds out how he was released then he will find out just how much potential Gohan has. Even Vegeta said Gohan still has the most potential of all the saiyans...he just doesn't train. beerus might be interested in training him in the future. Gohan will be back better than ever at that point
So it took me awhile but here's how i look at it. 1. the link is for the supreme grand kai of a universe so for seven currently it is Shin (sorry if anything is misspelled) and it is to keep the gods of destruction in check incase one of them goes rouge or tries keep them from killing the kai's. 2. the Original grand Kai who fought Buu didn't die he was absorbed so as long as Buu is alive That god of destruction is alive or 3. Berrus became the god of destruction when Shin became the new "supreme kai.
I think the Old Kai Theory makes perfect sense. What other reason would Beerus have to seal the old kai? Definitely making this a part of my head canon.
Ok so based on your theory in this video this is my view. Future trunks timeline supreme Kai dies but rember old Kai is still alive because he was not relesed from the z sword to train gohan and even if he was he did not give up his life to goku because if he had then trunks would not be coming back for help from the present goku. This means that Beerus would still be alive in the future timeline if old Kai is still alive either sealed in the z sword or on the Kai planet. If supreme Kai is dead and that ends Beerus then the best hypothesis based on all the facts and knowlage we have Beerus and the other gods of destruction are directly connected to the supreme Kai serving at that time appointed to that universe. This would also make the flashback in the buu saga that shows all the other Kai desperately fighting to protect supreme Kai become relevant in the discussion and explain why the refused to allow him to fight kid buu and if supreme Kai's life was in danger then this also explains why Beerus knew of him as he was most list watching the events in the event he need to step in to protect his own exsistance.

This is the thing that, i through when i first heard about this... So i don't get why, it was so difficult to make this idea of "All the Kaioshin have to die to kill Beerus"...
I think toriyama forgot about the fact that there are supposed to be 5 kaioshin because in universe 10 there is only 1 kaioshin and his apprentice, gowasu and zamasu.
A theory I have is that the highest kai is beerus pair (dai kaioshin) and the other supreme kais are more or less assistants over their respective parts of the universe and that's why he didn't kill buu even though he wanted to also why he didn't jump to save east supreme kai
why didnt supreme kai call beerus to destroy majin buu when buu was destroying all of the kais since if they all died beerus also would, or even call on him during the buu saga.
THIS sounds like another throw back to dragon ball/ the early Z era. Remember Piccolo and Kami were once two separated beings linked this may be the case here as we don't know how a Hakaioshin is born
But whis asked goku to become next god of destruction, so lets say if goku is the god of destruction, how will his soul etc be linked with the other kais? Would there have to be a ritual or something, too much plot holes
It's a well thought out theory bro. It makes sense of Toriyamas typical writing which is full of so many plot holes you could mistake it for Swiss cheese.
i think what beerus was trying to do was ensure that at least one kai would stay alive. so that even if all the other kai died, beerus would still have a hidden kai to keep him alive through that link.
One thing to note. While you're right that we've never seen a God of Creation actually create something, we have seen that King Kai recreated his planet after Cell blew it up. It's not relevant to anything but I thought I'd mention it before people started to harp on it.
Remember when BOG was coming out an Beerus was this unstoppable badass that looked tough and unbeatable.
I also think it's possible that the God of Destruction is linked to one of the surpreme kais without it being known which one. and since all the other kais are dead it means that the surpreme kai that we know is the one without question linked to him

Unless I missed something...Dai Kaioshin aka the leader of the supreme kais, was never actually killed. He was absorbed by Kid Buu, and people that are absorbed obviously don't die, they just stay alive inside Majin Buu. So I think the actual theory here is that Supreme Kai aka Kaioshin is NOT linked to Beerus and his life is expendable, but rather Beerus is linked to Dai Kaioshin. This would explain a lot of events while Beerus was asleep such as him not stopping Buu etc. I bet Whis thought Majin Buu was unbeatable so Dai Kaioshin's life was safe, and or he saw that Buu was sealed up in his ball and would never be released. Just a thought after hearing the video. Keep up the great work Big D!!
Personally I've just been working with the interpretation that the God of Destruction is only bound to the highest ranking Kai, and that Beerus and Shin rose to power at the same time. Would explain how the both of them are both alive after Majin Buu.
I thought the Old Kai thing would work too but then I thought, since Future East Kaioshin died and that killed Future Beerus (supposedly Beerus), and since Old Kai is trapped in the Z Sword since Gohan and Goku are dead, I'm assuming the sealing of Old Kai wouldn't have an affect on keeping Beerus alive. Unless the Z Sword was destroyed and Old Kai was too, but that's unlikely.
My two questions are if the lives of the Supreme Kais and Gods of Destruction are linked than why are the Kais so afraid that Beers kill them if they both know he will die and would it really matter sense we all saw how King Kai and Elder Kai just got up and went about their business after dying.

That Z-Sword stuff make 110% sense. Going on what you said at the end of the video about Universe 10...Do you think Gowasu and Zamasu are reflected as the Old Kai and remaining Kaioshin of Universe 7? Also, do you think they will reveal the God of Destruction for Universe 10? Hopefully we'll find answers in the upcoming Universe Survival Arc.
