Porsche represents InnoDrive with Active Lane Keeping as a driver assistance feature - not as a hands free autonomous driving feature. To quote from the Active Lane Keeping topic in my Cayenne's owners manual: "Keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times in order to always by ready to steer." (Apparently "be" got translated to "by" in that statement.)
Thank you for sharing this! Just purchased a used Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo and it has ACC. Having added to MyPorsche I see the option to add ALK/PID, with 90 days free trial and monthly costs there after. I'll probably still sign up and give it a shot, but your video prepares me for worse case scenario. With any luck, here in Ohio will provide better results. My expectations are low, and your video gives me a good baseline too. Again, appreciate the time/video!
I wonder how much the right angle of sun glare on the lenses may affect the cameras' ability to lane keep, or dirt and bug splatter, etc. Still, not confidence inspiring though if it didn't warn you that it was having problems.
Good question, but none of those factors you mentioned should have made the lane keep system so ineffective and inconsistent. Throughout the drive you could see numerous instances where the car was basically going in a straight line and it would intermittently just lose sight of the right lane or the left lane and then inexplicably gain it back. Definitely not confidence inspiring!
That is quite possible. The only time my Cayenne's InnoDrive/ALK wasn't able to "see" lane lines on a multi-lane highway was when I was driving directly into a low hanging sun on a clear warm day last summer. I could barely see the lane lines due to the glare and suspected that my Cayenne couldn't see them for the same reason. I had driven this section of road many times while using InnoDrive - both day and night - with no problems at all.

Glad you found it helpful - I hope your experience with ALK/PID is better than what I experienced here!
