Someone on Reddit said that this album was meant to show how out of place the character Slim Shady is in 2024. That’s a great idea for a concept album. Adding to that, one of Eminem’s friends, fellow Detroit rapper Royce da 5’9”, told people you had to listen to the songs in order. But I don’t think the final product does the idea justice and there’s not really a narrative that requires the album to be played in order. The whole “death of Slim Shady” idea comes up on maybe two songs. Otherwise it’s just a standard Eminem album. It’s a better album than his last three and there were moments I liked, but it’s not as narratively ambitious as we were told. Tobey is the best song on the album.
"Houdini" is easily the cringiest song on the album as 2 minutes and 39 seconds into the song, Eminem references R. Kelly, a dangerous [and extremely disgusting] musician.
