Metallica-Ride The Lightning 40 years later
Ride the Lightning is the second studio album by the American heavy metal band Metallica, released on July 27, 1984, by the independent record label Megaforce Records. The album was recorded in three weeks with producer Flemming Rasmussen at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The artwork, based on a concept by the band, depicts an electric chair being struck by lightning flowing from the band logo. The title was taken from a passage in Stephen King's novel The Stand, in which a character uses the phrase to refer to execution by electric chair.

Experimental metal/electronic duo will release their eponymous debut on August 2nd via the newly resurrected Someoddpilot Records. MOIII is a study of opposing forces. Great review and discussion about this album guys! This has always been, and always will be my favourite Metallica album. I love the guitar tone, the production and the songwriting. There was a great point about them changing their sound for this one and being able to write songs better than most Thrash bands at the time, which I totally agree with. Although I think Master is a better written album, this one has that charm for me. My top 3 songs would be Fight Fire with Fire, Creeping Death and Call of Ktulu. But I love every song from it 😊🤘🏻
A landmark album indeed.

@@RockOfAllAges-81 this was historic indeed.
Amazing!!!!!! Insane!!!!! Love it!!!!!!

My analysis of the performance: A shock opening. From a window high in the medieval palace of French kings, the guillotined head of Marie Antoinette, cradled in her own arms like a medieval saint, sings the Ça ira anthem. This was the marching song of the mobs in the streets during the French Revolution which in a pulsing beat days everything will be fine, but the first order of business is to hang the nobility from the lampposts. The Gojira band members were positioned like mad animated gargoyles of Notre Dame cathedral on the outside of the building as the opera singer, dressed as Marie herself (I think, because I couldn’t see her clearly) sails by the palace in what looked like Cleopatra’s ship descending the Nile. I couldn’t make out what she was singing but it was hardy necessary. The message was clear as we watched the ship’s passage through a gauntlet of fiery jets from Hell taking the old order of France across the River Styx to Hades Joe Duplantier and the metal band with the Japanese-name Gojira (Godzilla) rockers played their music as insistently as the heavy metal of the angled blade of the guillotine. The doomed monarchy sails off to oblivion stage right as the manic gargoyles of Gojira scream out the heavy metal version of Ça ira-everything is going to be just fine.
It was pure perfection
❤❤
Glad you enjoyed
Stop talking, where is the video of the show???

I only wanted to see Gojira play, and I wasn't disappointed! They really made it work by encorporating that symphonic Metal sound, it was great. The fact they were playing on balconies on the side of a castle made it even more badass! It's a shame they didn't get to play for longer. Hopefully this will open the door for more Metal bands to play these mainstream events, instead of having the same old crap. Gotta be Metallica's turn next to play the Superbowl! 😁🤘🏻🤘🏻
I agree man
@@hectorThechilldudeonacouch ☺️🤘🏻🤘🏻
Yeah not gonna happen in America most likely, people in my country worry too much about offending some small vocal minority of puritanical assholes. That's why the superbowl has been lame as hell ever since the nip slip.

One of the best Albums in Rock and Metal history. Also Inspired alot of industrial music artists. There is some themes in this album that don’t hold up as much, but alot of them still do as well. The Producing, the poetry of the lyrics, the music videos, it’s all amazing. 10/10 one of the best albums ever made.
