Overlaying CAGED and Pentatonic

- The CAGED system for guitar provides a powerful start to understanding the fretboard, but adding the pentatonic scale to the CAGED system boosts the value of both of these systems and connects the dots better than either of these systems alone.

The best part of your lessons is that you not only show us great concepts that we can use.. but you’re the only one who consistently tells us the why.. when.. and how,.! Thanks Chris.,!👍🏼
Yes, I have always found the key to "memorizing" the shapes and how they correspond to the pentatonics is which finger is used at the lowest tone root position. Get that right and your fingers fall into place almost automatically. Very well explained in the video.
Nice!
Chris, I've been looking for a new teacher to take my musicianship to the next level. I saw a youtube from Marty Music, who mentioned your name, and after watching a few of your videos, I can see why Marty is the musician he is today. I am a full time professor (not of music), and a long time musician. You have an excellent style of teaching that suits me as a student, and I think I finally found my new teacher. Looking forward to joining your patreon page. Thanks so much!
Looking forward to working with you, Paul! Welcome aboard!
perfection literal perfection thank you my good sir
You are SO welcome.
So good Chris! So good!
Thanks, Tim!! Next stop: Circle of fifths!!!
GOLD. Thank you, Chris!
Such a great way to map out the fretboard and see vivid color, the interconnectivity of all the simple, repeating note patterns. Now, extra credit, do the same thing, but focusing on the treble strings.
More tools in the toolbox, thanks for sharing 👍😎👍
Thanks for all your support, Bubba! Keep on tuggin'
As always, the best content on the internet
Thanks, Ed. And thank you for all your support.
Quality teacher ! Thanks
Of course!
That is a wealth of info!!! Brilliant!! Thank you sir!!
Thank you again, Chris.
Many Mahalos!!! Love this exercise and lesson!
Mahalo!
Nice one Chris - looking and sounding good!
That's a nice 💡 moment for some that's been struggling to learn self taught. Thank you. I love it when something I already thought is explained in a way I can understand and makes me realise I do know more than I thought I did.
Thanks, great comment. The more context you can add, the stronger your understanding of something can grow
Understanding exactly this was a massive moment for me. Next was realizing that the choice of the ‘missing’ notes in pentatonic are what differentiates the various modes. You are meant to charge more for this stuff 😀
Ha! Part of what I want to do is raise the average level of understanding in the tribe (all guitarists) in a positive way, for free. We all deserve that.
Thanks for being here.
Great lesson. Thanks for slowing it down.
What a fantastic video have a wonderful Easter long weekend ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Of course! You have a great weekend too!
LOVE that strat
Ha! Me too! It’s a “K-Line” Springfield. Best “strat” I’ve ever had, hands down
@@curiousguitarist play it the way only you can.
❤
You rock, sir
Hey Chris! My request for next vid is an electric guitar interpretation of Monk’s Straight No Chaser.
Sounds good! You've seen this one though, right? ruclips.net/video/3R8-WBc8Lbg/видео.html
@@curiousguitarist Yeah man that is super tight!
❤️💪🏼🔥
Caged is more simple than you showed.. play a chord, then play the next chord shape in CAGED so if it's a C you start with, play a Barre A rooted on the highest up the neck fret you previously touched, it's a C. Then play a G Barre on the highest fret you just touched that time, it's a C again. And so on and so forth. Works like that for any CAGED chord.
Indeed, great context. Thanks for the comment.
Best caged video I've ever seen! I've decided with minimal hair left on my cranium, I'm getting a Kojack! Rock on!🎸🎵🎶🤙🍹👊
Ha! That’s how I did it to!!
And you've got the My Girl riff under your fingers, so you can play that anywhere any key.
Yup, exactly!
🤔
do mi so. do re mi so la do?
