dude you should put the tires off the 99 ex on this it would look wayyyyy better and buy new tires for the 99 go with a chrome look on the 99 if you get new tires for it

Try to make that a full race quad. Free flow exhaust, new holeshots, sticker kit, new handlebars, lift the handle bars for better handling.( just an idea and examples!) love it man! Enjoy it!

Nerf bars are probably DG like you said. Super old school. New nets are pretty cheap if you wanted to spruce it up a bit.
Looks like this one might be a great candidate for the 440 top end kit and a port/polish.
Keep resurrecting these old quads. It's hard to stop buying once you start. Love to see a little TLC put into them. Good job man.👍👍😁

put the black rims on that one. and go completely through that bike to make sure for minor defects. some stuff you wouldn’t notice or see until you tore it apart. you can never be too particular ab a bike

Check the fuse, It could be bad that was the issue with mine it didn't start with the button and i checked the fuse and it was bad, it has a spare one just put the spare one on and it should fix it.

Yeah that’s what I did from wiesco. But I needed to put a bigger oil cooler to keep it cool.
I’d say 426 440s are unreliable at high speeds
That's what I had. It was the funnest quad over had but not the fastest. I have 450r now but miss the 440.
You should buy a ltz 400 and compare the 400ex and the Ltz
them prices are going to the roof in france of ltz400...
road legal 4000€ atleast. and non road legal are anywhere between 2000-3000€...

@@_T_R_E_V_O_R_ yeah... banshee are selling between 4000-6000€ now. 2020 is crazy.. in january ltz 400 were still 1500-2000€ not road legal and for 2000€ u had them with extended a arms and stuff and clean. now its 2000 for a shit looking one... and if you lucky i only find then for 2500€..
and last year road legal ltz400 were 3000€ all days and less... but i guess every one wants a ltz or banshee... cause they are the only one who sky rocketed, also bashan and shineray (china quads) usualy around 600-1000e road legal (i think anything road legal has almost doubled price cause its getting rare by the day... since there are no more new ones.. only hytrack or polaris etc stuff) anyway i bought 2 china quads 200cc with papers and licence plate for 650€and 350€ , i sold on the 650€ quad the DWT rims for 200€ and some minor stuff i fixed. overal including the price of the road legal paper that u put on your name that is pretty expensive. 60€ 2006 and the other was 120€... cause it was a 2011 model so less then 10 years.
SOLD BOTH FOR 1000€ within 7 days... and they werent mint.. it are china quads and yeah looked good but sucked overal.. never ever i tought i would sell it for 1000€..
its crazy quad market right now.... people who got there quad like in 2015 ish can sell it for double the price they paid back in the day... hell ltz sell almost as expensive as new...
I'm a 400ex fan I currently have one with a 426 big bore with ported and polished head
Been geared with a big gun exhaust i love it it and I give 450s hell from the go
For wheelies I would recommend not feathering the throttle till your at the balance point you'll know your when when you stomach drops and let it go back and hit the grab bar so that if you have a fear of hitting it you'll find out nothing to worry about
It’s has a Chinese pistol I have a 300ex when I rebuilt the engine it had the same piston

The eBay cylinder and pistons will be fine, not what I would put in my personal quad, but my friend did it and he has run his 400ex hard for the last 3 years and it’s held up fine.

New to this channel and I'm curious what you do with all the quads and bikes you fix. Do you just try and buy cheap so you can do a little work to sell at a higher price or do you keep them all or what? Looks like your garage is a bit full of quads and even a snow mobile so I had to ask. And if you do sell...where are your bikes listed to see what all you have and prices? Love the channel and it's so satisfying the before and after of all your projects.
I say since u flip them alot. Pay the extra for custom seat cover with 2vintage logo or something free advertising.
As for loss of power 426 and 440 borekits require a headstud upgrade. If was done or just high hours the studs pull out. So u can probly fix old setup

Hey dude if you love the Honda Trx400ex, you should try getting its dirt bike brother, the Honda XR400r, it has the same exact motor. We have 2004 Xr400r and its a beast that's unkillable.
Its low on oil the oil has to be on the upper mark

In my Area that would sell for $700.... i was skeptical about all the stuff you buy and how expensive it is but then when i looked back at your old videos i realized prices are very different there than here in PA. You can get a 300ex or 400ex for $700 all day here.

There red and black wiring in front and the wire going to the spark plug wire, looks like the wiring I added on my xr250 for my trail tech vapor
The biggest thing with the 400 is the frame. Make sure it’s not rusted out.

I just picked up a 2001 rm125 yesterday for $400 just spent 80 bucks on a stator and 10 on a killswitch and 16 on brake pads it has new tires extra rims extra plastics boyesen 3 reeds and a pro circuit pipe im getting a collection of bikes and quads lol
It has a air box lid mod but still has the stock filter?No need to run 2 filters. You need to look for a trx700xx. Those are awesome bikes

Most likely the crank is bad, if the factory cylinder and piston were fine but it suffered a power loss then the crank is bad. Just went through this with mine. Had great compression but also about 3mm of up and down crank bearing play

These quads are known to have a little tik it’s a common thing it won’t hurt a thing i race these quads mine is fully built with a hot cam stage III if u want to know more get a hold of me

650s are junk. Just like the early yfz450s unless it has the oil modification to the case, 700s are awesome ,!!! but I hate fuel injection, ran out of gas in the trail sooooo. Many times, its a nightmare

Excellent job diagnosing a faulty solenoid! I want to say you're a glutton for punishment but it's too early to cement that possibility. I did think about the few red flags I did notice. The one that stood out the most was when he said he had a bunch of other people coming for it, personally, I would just make a cash offer on the spot not online. Who knows, you could get lucky this time. Maybe just did a minor repairs incorrectly.
Yeah im hoping for the best! But even if it is done incorrectly I can still learn from it. So really it's a win win haha
